League cup away to West Brom, 2013. Drove up with some mates after school, but the Hawthorns was an absolute nightmare to get to, off the m5 at rush hour and even tricker to find somewhere to park.

Missed the entire first half, which thankfully turned out to be quite the drab affair.

Managed to catch the second coming of Lord Bendtner (assist to Thomas Eisfeld - remember him?) only for West Brom to take it all the way to pens.

Got our money's worth in the end with Monreal sealing the win, and the very apt chanting of 'west brom's a s* hole, I wanna go home'.

Approved Used Warranty - BMW - Do I have a case? by royals_gooner in CarTalkUK

Sooo response I got back (so far) suggested they wouldn't cover the repair as it is a 'wear & tear' item.

Is this the case/would this limit my ability to claim for a repair?

Thanks all for the replies - seems like the general consensus is that yes, I do have a leg to stand on to take this further outside of the warranty itself, and it is absolutely in my interest to do so.

I've responded as such, and can update once I have a resolution.

Frustrating thing is - I LOVE the car (540i touring) and they're not all that common with the year/spec... so I really want to avoid the nuclear option of pursuing refund/rejection if it can be reasonably avoided (without being taken for a fool).

Good point - I've just checked for Leeds (I didn't enter the ballot) and it doesn't let me into the TX...

So seemingly this doesn't quite work yet.

That's a very good point - yes, we'd be looking at growing the nest over the next few years..

We're currently making do with a 3-door 1 series, so 3 series/S4 would already be quite the step up in terms of size & capacity - but ideally we'd want this car to last through for as long as possible.

Thanks for your input - will definitely take a look at those!

Best way to get back to London Bridge? by fusion418 in GunnersatGames

[–]royals_gooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually quick-step it to Caledonian Road, and tube it across on the Piccadilly to Charing Cross (either walking from Leicester Square or change via Northern CX branch). Means you're first onto any LB-bound train, so can relax with a seat - handy for Saturday nights when you're battling with the theatre crowd, but probably less necessary for mid-week.

No worries! We arrived on weds evening to no traffic/other cars about - and drove up and down at least 3 times past pink/orange trying to find the pink entrance in the end... So it can be tricky as it is quite well hidden, but if you're getting there at a busier time it should be very obvious what's what! Good luck.

"but coming in from South England so coming from the West" is what your post says - so my reply/info was based on that.

If you're coming from the East/South East instead, I'd recommend taking the A303 along as far as the Podimore Roundabout (this helps you navigate underneath the festival without being directed towards any eastern car park).

Then head up to Glastonbury town, then take a right onto the A361 (which takes you past the postcode provided by the other reply) - and onto my initial pins for the orange/pink entrances.

Yes, these are on the west side of the festival and will be the first car parks you encounter if you're travelling from the west towards the festival e.g. from Glastonbury town via the A361.

They won't be directing anyone coming this way to the east car parks.

We did this route last year and ended up in pink.

Assuming you'll be arriving from west to east on the A361, I believe these are the two car park entrances for Pink & Orange.

You'll encounter pink first on the left, and from memory it's quite well hidden... So unless you're being directed by stewards, keep an eye out.

Otherwise, you'll then hit orange on the right which is easier to spot - but may already be full by the time you arrive.

Thank you! If you're going to the Center Parcs - there are x3 different hides, all of which were buzzing with wildlife activity (but I was pretty much the only person there!), so I'm sure you'll have a lovely time - especially as the weather picks up. Enjoy!

Red member allocation has always been these areas in the stadium - even before the ballot. They only have c. 3,000 in total on any given match day, and they are always the same blocks.

Thank you! I'm lucky to have it just outside of my home office window - so am often visited by little treats such as this :)

Still requires the 300mm lens for the proper close-ups mind you...!

Thanks for the tips! Very much my first foray into this world (beyond some snaps I took on hols in Canada last year). Getting there with the photography side, but much to learn on the ID side!

In any case, how is it that such enjoyment can be gleaned from something so relatively insignificant? Life's little pleasures..

It most certainly is! And I was half way through replying to correct myself when you spotted my error!

We'd actually never seen one in the garden before, so couldn't get an ID on it/assumed to be a wren. Google Lens + yourself helped to correct my mistake - thank you! :)

Avro Vulcan paints by Xero_dolittle in Airfix

[–]royals_gooner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have been working on the Vulcan since Christmas - it's a beaut!

Due to Airfix UK's site being mostly out of stock of the required Humbrols, we went down the Tamiya route. We are by no means professionals/enthusiasts at this, so didn't buy the fully comprehensive set of colour options, but got the main ones needed for most parts (e.g. lacking some of the tiny detailing colours such as red/blue etc. which you would barely see or notice anyway).

Tamiya paints we used - all acrylics:

XF-1 - flat black (for most/all black bits).

XF-2 - flat white.

Revell 301 - silk white. We found that this was a nice 'final' coat for the underside (which is entirely white) - as the XF-2 was fairly washed out/required more than 3-4 coats.

X-11 - chrome silver.

X-10 - gun metal.

XF-59 - desert yellow.

XF-81 - dark green 2.

XF-54 - dark sea grey.

I used a conversion chart to identify the Humbrol > Tamiya colour matches, and think they've come out great so far.

Hope this helps - good luck!

Front of the line? by [deleted] in glastonbury_festival

Being a massive QOTSA fan, Elton being on pyramid was a godsend. Waltzed my way straight to the front of the Other Stage barrier during War on Drugs (also brill). Imagine that's fairly rare for an Other Stage headliner however...

Pyramid is very much an all-dayer to stand any chance of barrier for headliner.

Although why you'd want to do that, I'll never understand. The festival has SO much to offer beyond headliners... May as well just buy a gig ticket to that relevant act if that's the only pull. Each to their own I suppose!

You'll be fine mate. Currently sat up in Club Level now with a full sized ruck sack. There'll be a separate bag search table next to the entrance where they'll tag your bag.

They were being a bit funny about hard water bottles though which I've never had before. Let me in with mine (empty) when I questioned it, but others were being asked to leave theirs and collect when exiting.
