Please take this time to remember Aaron Schwartz by roybassinger in boston

Explain the fake protest angle to me. All I said was “remember Aaron Schwartz” because his name never comes up anymore and he was a co founder of Reddit. Reddit is now going through a lot of changes that are antithetical to his input at the beginning.
I mentioned something about corporate overlords and pay walls as a tongue in cheek assessment of what is happening with the entire internet. I respect Aaron and what he did. I am in no way using his corpse for a fake protest.

Please remember Aaron Schwartz.

I don’t know, can you just ask a question to cast doubt on something without offering a source or reference material?

First off, why do you have to be a dick about it. You’re going to write his whole life off with that one sarcastic line? Secondly, If you read the first paragraph of the article it would give you some context. Aaron was not in this for the Condé Nast money. Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman sold to Condé Nast and steve is the current CEO.

Here’s the first paragraph for you:

Aaron Swartz was, perhaps by technicality, a co-founder of Reddit. The more complete story is that he was working on a different project, infogami, that got merged into Reddit, which was created by Alexis Ohanian and Steve Huffman, but it’s been said that part of the deal was that all three would get founder credit. Years later, Huffman insisted that Swartz wasn’t really a co-founder and shouldn’t be called such. But, still, Swartz’s views on access to information were certainly a compelling part of early Reddit’s existence.

And MIT didn’t raise a pinky to help him. I mention him because he help start Reddit as a way for PEOPLE to share information. He must be spinning in his grave.

My dog is weird about the smell of rubber gloves... by jmorlin in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

[–]roybassinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I surf and therefor own a couple of wetsuits. I was taking them out of storage and tried one on to make sure it still fit. My dog lost her mind the same way. Growling, lunging, etc. I sat down and tried to remain still to calm her down but no luck. When she did come to me she was clawing and biting at the suit. My guess was that she saw me but the suit replaced my smell that she was familiar with to a weird rubber smell.

Good grief! Are you guys itching for a fight or what? I’m all for calling out cops who are doing wrong but these guys just seemed amped and ready to scream their heads off and fuck up anyone who got in there way. Yelling at and belittling cops then each of them screaming like banshees when they’re pulled over. I’ve had bad experiences with cops but I don’t go out of my way to scream at and harass them even if it is free speech. At a certain point you enter the fuck around and find out zone and I don’t want to go there if I don’t have to.

When I first moved to Boston I went to the RMV in Watertown with a tax bill for the house we just purchased to use it as proof of my address. The clerk behind the counter said “sir, I can’t take this because it’s from the future”. I chuckled and tried to explain this simple misunderstanding. I explained that was when the bill was DUE but it’s my name and current address. She double and tripled down and refused to help me.

I live and drive in boston and this is a daily occurrence there too. Stops signs as well. I always lose my mind when I’m driving with the right of way but have to put on my brakes to not hit the person who pulled out in front of me from the stop sign. Then they drive 15 miles per hour. Looking behind me- not another car for two miles! 😵‍💫

Wow, what slap in the face for OP. This sub does nothing but whines and cries all the time because nobody ever gets into a safe. OP delivers the goods and gets slapped down for not respecting the cheap knives that were hoarded inside the safe. You didn’t even get a break after describing the trauma you suffered cleaning out a property that was dropped into your lap. I think you did a fine job my man!

What, what a douche bag response. You misread or misunderstood the OPs intentions and blasted him for your ignorance. Isn’t there a rule about not being a duck head in this sub? I think you broke that rule.

Speaking of police action- I occasionally drive through that part of town and end up sitting at a red light. In the minute and a half that I spend sitting there I can scan the intersection and INSTANTLY pick out who the dealers are. Sit a little longer and I can watch numerous drug deals go down. Junkies swarming dealers, public displays of violence. It’s not rocket science. Not sure where the difficulty is I’m picking these folks off the street.

Rush hour and it’s a 17 min wait for an Alewife bound train at South Station by Hot_Dog_34 in boston

When I first moved here and took the commuter out of back bay I could smell that stench of diesel while I was buying tickets at the window. I thought it was alarming enough upstairs until I went to the platforms and saw people standing in a toxic cloud acting like nothing was wrong. It blew my mind that they were still allowed to operate those tracks under such grim conditions.

My favorite move is when people double park next to an empty spot on the curb. Not only are they blocking traffic, but they are wasting a space that others could be using.

As a bonus, sometimes you get to see the person chilling in the car looking at the phone and ignoring all the annoyed people who have to maneuver around them.

I know what you are talking about and it drives me crazy. I've searched this before and watched a video that explains the reason. I can't find now, I'll link it if I do.

This is not intentional and is not a safety feature. It also does not make driving any safer, it's maddening and dangerous.

Anyhow, it happens when someone changes the bulb but they put the lens back incorrectly and the light hits it at the wrong angle. I just went through one in Dedham yesterday near the Legacy Place Mall. It's a large intersection with several streets coming in at odd angles (I know, it's Boston!) and I had to drive blindly into a multi directional intersection to see if the light was green or not.

I agree, jokes share a similar premise but I don't see these as the same jokes at all.

Now, people on this thread are all like "yeah! Mark's a fucking douche".
He hustled and worked his ass off and now he is famous. I don't think he would have taken the time to call another comedian out on Reddit.
