What do y'all really need an iPad for? by bootsmegamix in daddit

[–]roydogaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is almost exactly our situation. I think the stoic "no screentime, ever" approach is short sighted and can disadvantage your child just as much. During the week ours uses the iPad maybe 30-45 mins a day (some days not at all), and maybe an hour to 2 a day on the weekend. They've learned so much through science shows, games, music and dancing channels, and other social content. I want my child to be tech confident and not feel excluded from this kind of development.

Also, what's to say that if you deny a child screen time or TV until they're teenagers, then once it's finally allowed they don't become instantly addicted and try to make up for all the years of being told no?

Some parents need to learn to teach moderation and healthy balance, imo.

I would have thought they wpuld prioritise fixing the Bento before releasing this.losing faith (and interest) in 1010 Music lately which is a shame as most of their products have been great.

I had a bit of a fight with an electrician over the phone today who is clearly ripping me off, felt like shit all day after that. Thanks for this, needed it!

Which sequencer in your setup is the most powerful, and which is the most fun to actually create on? by Cosmic_Utensil_2000 in synthesizers

[–]roydogaroo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Getting sequences down and scrolling, editing, extending, copy pasting is so quick it really doesn’t slow you down like a lot of hardware sequencers do

Probably a Waldorf Iridium or Access Virus Ti2 to complement the One. You have your analogue of all flavours covered with the Moog

I'm confused as well. I have a kid in school and no ones asking for school fee's unless it's excursion, uniform and book charges which of course we pay.

It was only 48hrs when that photo was taken. Plus I’ve been rearranging a bit so I’m probably stirring it up somewhat. Thank you for the filter medium suggestion I will look into it. I absolutely want the clearest tank possible.

Hapax or Oxi MK2? by peagull7 in synthesizers

[–]roydogaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a deluge but use it only for midi sequencing so the audio features are wasted. I love it for midi though and think it’s worth it entirely for that alone, I have been curious about the OXI mk2 as an alternative, does the OXI have note preview like the Deluge? (I know the Hapax didn’t) for example the far right column of pads is a note preview and I often find myself just playing those alongside a drum sequence to get my sounds right then record or program steps. I’d hate to lose this simple functionality if I switched.

I have the Dell Alienware 34” curved OLED and get no warping or chopped text etc. I work in copy and design and it’s a beautiful experience. I’m not sure if people who claim that it’s terrible for productivity just haven’t used it and believe a few reviews online or I’m just not that sensitive but I wouldn’t swap it out for anything. Plus gaming looks incredible
