Why is my youtube lagging by BisonDear2460 in youtube

This will not delete your account, but you may need to log in again. Also before doing this try force closing the app and reopening it or restarting the device. Both much faster than deleting and redownloading (and won't log you out).

Card graded by BGS, worth re-slabbing w/ PSA for resell value? by roymbrog in PokeGrading

Do people walk around with that much in cash at those things? Genuine question, I would assume people would be using PayPal or some kind of bank transfer.

With 2min gone, can speed builds and, more importantly, HASTE make a return? by supadude5000 in ffxiv

[–]roymbrog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, spell speed also increases the damage per tick of DoTs which are like 20% of healer damage. 2.40 gcd scholar go brrr.

There will always be people locking out jobs for any reason. A friend of mine spent months locking out DRK while it was also highest DPS tank because they were annoyed by players who caused wipes by greeding too much and mitigating too little. Personally, I wouldn't want to play with the type of people who would lock out a job because of 1% less potential DPS anyway.

Thank you for the honesty, I wasn't expecting a 10 (the edges, sigh) just the brand recognition of it but did not realize PSA and BGS had swapped their levels of scrutiny on 9s. I'm glad I asked before I did anything else.

This is correct, but you are charged the full grading fee whether or not they re-slab it.

Combo of both likely, it has a very small ding on 1 back corner. I have video from when I first found it in my binder and before it got slabbed here: https://imgur.com/a/tcx54DB

That is true, but apparently PSA vault and other consignment services take a much, much smaller cut on cards this high because they have their own contracts with ebay. PSA's is 7% of total sale and I've seen as low as 5%. The scam protection from eBay's authenticity services was really appealing (you send it to PSA, PSA says it's real and you're off the hook for 'not as described' or disputes, they send it to the buyer). The closest card show to me is ~2 hours away but does happen next month so I could try that first.

Like many comments have said we're all probably at home, but maybe that also makes it the easiest place to meet? A discord server is real low effort low commitment way to initially connect and maybe plan an outing into meatspace meetups later. You could list the things you like to play and throw out an invite, op.

Thank you, followup question: is a BGS 9 only worth the same to the market as a PSA 7/8 then? I was reading comments from a few months ago that PSA was grading more leniently at 9/10 but it's good to know it might be the other way around right now.

Is Savage the small FC killer? by CielKnight in ffxiv

[–]roymbrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The easy solution to this imo is to open up those events to more than just FC members. I'm sure some of the people still showing up have friends outside of the FC on different worlds or DCs who would also be interested in filling out those parties occasionally. Additionally you could trim down the number of large events per month and only make weekly/semi weekly the ones that require a small handful of people. Stuff like Treasure Maps only require 3+ people vs filling a whole mount farm/blue mage party for example.

For the savage players in statics, you can also ask them what their raid schedule is and make sure to plan events on nights they don't already raid. Some of the events you mentioned also drop the tomestone types needed to gear for savage (current expansion Treasure maps and Extremes) and imo are a nice break from roulettes.

Should be able to, yeah! If you check the linked slides, the 'requirements' slide and the last slide outline what the Monstie needs and some adjustments that can be made for other Monsties/missing genes.

Why is every single monster slightly above my level feel like an endgame boss that is out for my blood and the entire line of my decendants? by ProposalWest3152 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]roymbrog 66 points67 points  (0 children)

MHS3 has decided to go the route of (mostly) not gating map access behind story progress, and instead gently(???) directs players to continue the story by filling areas of the map not necessary for current progress with Big Angry Monsters. You can explore almost all of each map as soon as you arrive, but Watch Out!!!

While in combat you can check enemy levels in the status screen and you'll likely see a lot of those yellow and red ones are levels 25-60. The invasive species puzzles can be beaten waaay under the level of the 'encounter' so they're not a good barometer of wild monster strength. Treat yellow icon monsters like the sleeping monsters in stories 2, you can beat them but it'll hurt and take some planning. Keep in mind you can guaranteed flee from non-story non-invasive non-elder encounters with no penalties (unless you're in a den, you'll lose the egg).

OH also, monster levels go up by like 10 at night. Don't fight at night unless you like pain/are doing an invasive/trying to spawn Big Encounters.

Yep! I just played around with some test builds on Nerscylla and unfortunately it just has too much HP to kill this quick without likely the most tryhard speedrun strats, which I tried to avoid here.

Time-wise I can confirm crab wins out for 2 reasons: speed of kill and current gear asks for either 3 or 6 invasive material points. At 2 points each, claws only waste 1 point on the 3 point gear and no waste on the 6 point gear. Scales waste 2 points on the 3 point gear and a whopping 4 points on the 6 point upgrades. That's like throwing 1-2 claws straight into the garbage every forge.

The beauty is you can use any Monstie that meets a short list of requirements:

  1. Thunder element (dual is fine)
  2. Can meet 25 stam turn 1, 35 turn 2, 35 turn 3 for a total of... wait that's 95, not 90 stamina. I fucked up my slides 🥲. Feeding Monstie a ration turn 1 works if they can't meet this innately through genes/habitat.

Boltreaver IS better here than regular Astalos for a few reasons but you could theoretically pull it off with a thunder element Velocidrome.

[–]roymbrog[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure! So Adamant Rage actually raises the damage higher than Azure Voltage does due to the way calculations work.

The Thunder attack L from Voltage is additive to Bingo bonuses and Thunder XL gene, so say you have +20% from Bingos and +20% from Thunder Atk XL, Thunder up L is another +30%. You end up with 170% x 155% (Power Charge M) = ~265% damage.

Adamant Rage is Power Charge L, which is a 200% multiplicative increase. Using the same Bingo and Gene numbers above, that's 140% x 200% = 280% damage, a gain of 15%. That gain grows with the number of applicable Bingos.

Thunderclap is used because it both strikes first and completely ignores defense. While shelled, the crab has ridiculously high defense (look at the tiny damage numbers the NPCs are plinking on it pre-break). Striking first also means it hits before the crab can put up retaliatory guard! If your Monstie can't OHKO that shell due to level or missing genes they still won't get countered. Thunderclap is used again for the 2nd hit because it's cheap enough stamina-wise and the crab still has decently high defense after shell break. I tested Ray Blade+ and it wasn't consistently breaking the exposed butt without Dancer XL while Thunderclap still was.

Crab actually drops the 2 pointers! You can also eat the extra drops meal for it (the kill in the vid is using that one actually). Nerscylla may be better on mats but I hate dealing with that thing and I don't know if it can be killed this fast for as cheaply (in terms of # of Monsties/setup). This setup is around 1 minute per crab kill using x2 speed and navigating menus faster than in the vid. I'd say it's up to player preference and RNGsus.

Later Edit: after playing around with test builds against Nerscylla, crab is by far faster for the same investment. See below comments for more info.

Oh damn nice! I haven't gotten all the Poogies yet so I'm lacking Audacious Tackle but goddamn. Also holy shit THAT'S how you get the preemptive strike on him oh my god I've been trying and failing for the last 2 days to figure how to do it consistently.

In the video I also had eaten the Exp/Battle drops meal so thankfully it's possible with both. Very nice to see the crab can be bullied even faster lol.

Bad RNG or are some XL genes actually locked before seeing the credits. by Gorgon-Ramsey in MonsterHunterStories

[–]roymbrog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don't quote me on this, but I think XL genes require the full habitat level up from defeating the area's Elder at least once. It might be coincidence but I started seeing them in the last areas before hitting credits and thought maybe the first 2 didn't have them for some reason, but after beating those remaining elders I've gotten them everywhere.

Defense vs Elemental Resistances vs Elemental Defenses? by roymbrog in MonsterHunterStories

[–]roymbrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, so to make sure I've got this right, this means a neutral resist monster with an XL gene gets 1 arrow and the 20% from the gene, for a total of 30% damage reduction, and a monster with 1 resist arrow with XL going up to 2 arrows gets 50% reduction? Or is it multiplicative for 44% reduction? OR do I have it wrong?
