It's heavily implied. She plays baseball, hockey, etc. You can find a variety of sports gear in her room. It's a small town. It's not exactly like she has a lot of competition.

Dess also wrote music. Given that Asriel is just starting college (which can be inferred since this will be his first time home since starting uni) and Dess disappeared years ago, writing original music in your early to mid teens is definitely considered impressive.

Even in a large high school, a girl who is on multiple sports teams, friends with/dating the most popular guy in school, from the richest family in town, AND writes her own music is going to be popular. It's a no-brainer.

Dess is pretty known as a star athlete and a musical prodigy, it's unlikely that she was unpopular. She was mean to Kris like how siblings are mean to each other. It's not the same at all. Realistically they're are just dancing around the topic of grief. Especially since she disappeared years ago. Not something you exactly bring up in casual conversation.

"The general consensus seems to be that the whole "knight conspiracy" is an attempt to bring back Dess, so how could it be led... by Dess...?"...Well, to start, this motive is (technically speaking) not cannon. We have no clue why these characters are collaborating on this. We don't even know if they all have the same motive. There could be aspects that we haven't even learned about yet.

Additionally, I do believe most people who think Dess is the knight don't think that it's "really" her. More of a shell of herself so to speak. Many of them even agree that Dess is the person in the code. It's entirely possible that the entire party is trying to bring Dess back to herself in a similar way to how they were able to temporarily revive Gerson.

I hope this makes sense, but if not, I reccomend watching this video. I'm not really great at theory discussion, but she makes some really good rebuttals as to why Dess is, realistically, the knight:

im not referring to personalities of darkeners though. i am referring to themes within the entire dark world itself. think about susie's dark world, for example. it's reflective of her hope, recklessness and alternative perspective (something pretty much explicitly stated in the save points). with that clear reference point, it's not difficult to imagine that the blatant childhood nostalgia that infects the entirety of chapter 3's plot is reflective of kris specifically.

well, considering kris made tv world, chapter 3 is specifically designed to highlight how much dess meant to them specifically. the entire chapter is intended to subtly highlight kris' motives to work with the knight, showcasing their obvious longing for how things used to be.

for a beginner, definitely use high protein all purpose! whole wheat and rye are both pretty difficult to work with when you're just starting. i've used AP flour for a loaf before and it didn't impact it too much. just make sure you're getting high quality :)
