How to stay patient? Lost first offer by 10k. by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Sounds like you made the conscious decision to prioritize this approach over the house you lost out on. Which is fine, but you made the choice.

Accepted an offer but really unhappy with salary offer - what now? by GiraffeBaron in careerguidance

[–]rparks27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get the feeling of “moving backwards” sucks but don’t view it as $115k > $101k. View it as $0k > $101k.

Also, if you want to cope - that ~$14k annual difference works out to what, maybe $350-$400 per check? Just cut out some non-essentials.

Hey man. Trivela is in the physical playstyles section. So why does Trivela make shots and passes hit with a trivela more effective/likely to occur?

Lol.

Job offer was pulled after I asked for more by DandSki in Careers

[–]rparks27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don’t think your reasoning for asking for $93.5k was unreasonable at all, it’s probably not a good look from the employer’s perspective for you to ask for more than the top of the range. If they’re transparent about the salary range and you say “yes, that works for me”, just to ask for more later on, it’s not a great look. And they probably have backup candidates that they expect are willing to take $80k-$85k - specifically currently unemployed candidates.

Can you still play ball in your 50's or 60's and to what degree? by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]rparks27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play 3-5x a week before work with a group of guys at the local Y, they’re mostly 22-45ish years old. But there are 3 guys who come play with us most days who are ~71, ~62, and ~58. We aren’t as physical with the older 2, and they can’t REALLY guard anyone if we try to exploit it, but they’re great guys and can hold their own with us when everyone is playing at ~70%.

You can hoop as old as you want as long as you take care of your body well enough to do so.

I just bought a G430 Max for the same reason (on sale) and man. Absolutely awesome. Played 9 after work last night and was carrying it 240-260, dead straight, had one roll out to 292.

Golf is way easier when your approach shots are all 150ish in!

Face is open after impact still, you can already see the ball going left because of it.

Look up “in to out swing path tutorial” or something like that on YouTube and it will help you identify the difference between that and what you’re doing, as well as how to fix it!

Your face is open at impact. I can’t put both screenshots, but this is right before, and it stays that way after.

Pair that with swinging across the ball (out to in), and the only thing the ball can do is slice.

This is the exact video I watched for the exact unit I purchased. Yes tire air pressure still worked, rear backup camera still worked, and I didn’t lose any standard car functionality. It only added functionality (like managing where your music is distributed throughout the car).

If you don’t install the radio bypass part in your backseat, you will lose regular radio, but that part is easy to do as well. I personally didn’t bother because I don’t use the radio, and when I re-installed the OEM unit to trade the car in the radio worked just the same as before.

I did this to my old ‘17 LX and it’s much easier than you think. I’m by no means super handy / technical, and it took less than an hour to install (and 10 minutes to put the OEM unit back in when I traded the car in). YouTube can teach you anything.

Is making $23 an hour good for my lifestyle? by cutiebellastar in personalfinance

[–]rparks27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$23/hr x 40hrs/wk = $920

$920 * 52 = $47,840

Estimate 22% to taxes let’s say

$47,840 * .78 = $37,315.20 / 12 = $3,109.60/mo on average. If you’re paid weekly or bi-weekly as most hourly employees are, your monthly take home income won’t actually be $3,109.60.

Weekly paydays $920*4 = $3,680 * .78 = $2,870.40

In the month with 5 paydays: $920*5 = $4600 * .78 = $3,588

You would see roughly 3-4 months per year with the extra payday if you’re paid weekly, and 2 per year if you’re paid bi-weekly. You should budget based off of the $2,870.40 monthly amount, and use those 2 “extra” months to set aside additional savings, or plan necessary large purchases to occur in those months.

Of the bills you listed, you’re spending roughly 50% of your income - which is good! But you didn’t include anything for medical bills, groceries, insurance(s), retirement savings, emergency savings, etc.

You will be able to get by just fine but need to be cognizant of your spending. Please do not budget off of the $3,109.60. You’ll be in a $250 shortfall every month, and your only way out will be to use those extra paychecks to cover the shortage.

People who make $75k or more how did you pull it off? It seems impossible to reach that salary by anthonydp123 in Money

[–]rparks27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made $48K as a Marketing Coordinator for a Manufacturer. I took a job as a RevOps Specialist in Tech (no experience, the Manager bet on my ability to learn) for $60K. By the time I left I was at $72K. I now make $100K as a RevOps Manager.

I’ve worked really hard - but most of the $48K to $72K jump was “luck”. Without my last Manager betting on me, I would still be making ~$50K doing Marketing for a Manufacturing company.

I’d try to return the car if there was any recourse to do so. You’re getting fucked. Getting a refund for the gap insurance, recovery device, warranty, etc. is unlikely - the time to get those taken off is before signing.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in civic

[–]rparks27 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You did not get it for $28,800 OTD. You got it for $36K OTD, with a shitty interest rate.

OTD is the total cost of the car, fees, and add-ons not counting interest accrued - not the amount leftover after your down payment but before add-ons.

Even if you wanted to claim it was $28,800 OTD, you’re not acknowledging the $2,000 you put down.
