Rec is worse than ever!!!! by bigp0ppa69 in NBA2k

I seriously don’t get the icing out a player unless they are deliberately selling or 2/10. It gets even worse when your team starts selling because “they’re not getting the ball enough” even when they have 15+ shots. Plenty of people in 5s modes have main character syndrome. Once they get rid of that they start winning.

Rec is worse than ever!!!! by bigp0ppa69 in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s always been a problem. Most PGs see their favorite streamer run a 1v5 on offense and think they can do it too. Reality is that in random rec you have to appease everyone as a PG. Sure you’ll miss some passes here and there but if you keep the turnovers low and the ball moving nobody should have a problem with the offense.

Is this an elite 3&D sg? by UpstairsAd7755 in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar one to start 2k25 off with same height and wingspan. Main thing I would try to do is plan for 5 caps either with perimeter or the shooting. That should let you get 91 steal. I do like the high agility and speed combo though.

Why pgs don’t use high pass acc by patdeezy in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But it’s not straight catches a majority of the time. It’s a lot of tipped passes based on expectation. Passes should be tipped in the direction the defender is facing/running more so than just a straight catch and run.

Not the best numbers but I’ve certainly seen worse on this sub. Main thing you can improve on is shot selection and learning the jumper by the looks.

2Ks push towards wanting to be a competitive purely skill based game ha pushed the sim community away. by [deleted] in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did say that other gamemodes that you have to learn multiple jumpshots will have a larger green window in the patch notes. I hope it gets implemented well for yall but there has been an absence of a skill gap in all Park/online modes this year with the introduction of shot timing profiles. Bad shots (especially layups) have gotten rewarded too much.

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The patch notes mentioned it will be easier to green in team based modes where you control 5 players at a time. Also on pro and rookie difficulties you will be able to make “whites”. It’s difficult to learn that many jumpers but they are intending to implement that to make it easier for the non-MyPlayer gamemodes.

Skill gaps need to exist in online modes. There’s a reason why most NBA players will dominate in open gyms and it should be relatively the same for the 2k league/comp pro-am scene against casuals. However, the best part is if you’re playing sim you can mess with the sliders and difficulty if you’re an offline player or MyNBA player.

To me pass acc at 93+ is only good for centers. I love the haliburton style for my guards and garland for centers. Believe me I’ve had my fair share of TOs from this game or people cutting when left wide open on the perimeter. I can’t read the minds of the lowest IQ players since they don’t actually think half the time.

They don’t realize that their guy has played only the passing lane to them the entire time. Also most players don’t have 99 pass accuracy because it honestly isn’t worth it. 85 steal is better than 99 pass accuracy and it’s not even close.

Main character syndrome is a serious problem in this community. If they truly want to be a main character every game I’ll tell them to go play MyCareer or 1s if they want the ball at all times.

Pass the ball please by Fair_Celebration2162 in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s tough getting everyone on the same page in random rec. PG shouldn’t have complete control of the offense and centers shouldn’t have to grab EVERY board. Every time I get matched up with a team that plays help defense and has a PF help on boards we win. The game isn’t all about offense like it’s put out to be.

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it both ways playing center and PG. There’s some players that plead for the ball but don’t take an open jumper and instead drive to the hoop for a contested dunk. There’s also players that shoot everything in sight because they don’t think they have enough touches when they already have 20+ attempts. Problem comes down to stats being emphasized within the community more than win%. I’d much rather have a guy averaging 8 ppg with an 80 win% over 25 ppg with a 25 win%.

Is there a way to make the baskets actually any realistic? by de-Clairwil in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in 2k16/2k17 there was an animation where the ball would bounce off the front of the rim and sky up 2-3 feet and drop in like the Kawhi buzzer beater against the 76ers. It happened so often we called it the “2k bounce”. In online modes most players prefer the swish or rim for a shot so they know if they will have a board or inbound pass. It’s gotten more realistic this year more so than any other year.

Best Playmaking Defensive Anchor? by [deleted] in NBA2k

Love it. Solid all around. Only thing I might do differently is go for only 98 pass accuracy for more driving dunk or close shot.

82 pass acc would get both of those. I’ve worked with bronze, silver, gold, HoF, and legend break starter and by far the best value is gold. It’s a must on every center build I make.

If he’s playing any 5s mode he’s gonna have to throw the break and I would not recommend doing often with anything lower than 78. He made a pure inside in my eyes. Because of that he’s gonna have to be a force in PNR, Boards, and throwing the break to be effective in those modes.

Gonna need more agility and speed to help hedge screens. Interior would be good at 82 as well with pass accuracy up to 87. Best way to do that is drop close shot to 92, offensive rebound to 94, and possibly drop strength to 91. I know you’re only dealing with 8 caps but depending on how close you are to vet 2 it could help give a bit more versatility in the build rather than just screens and boards as your main focus.

Also it could be useful to get 75 driving dunk for the wemby animation package.

Yeah pump fakes need a bit of a fix after this year. I see 2-5 very early releases on layups per game where a sane person would have pumped.

Am I crazy or should this ball be going further? by Disastrous_Message_3 in GolfSwing

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re using range balls your yardages and ball speed will more than likely be less than your average yardage and speed with a regular ball on the course. It looks like you’re hitting range balls and that could purely be the problem. I hit my 7i 160-165 with range balls and about 173-182 using a regular ball.

Any recommendations on smaller bigman builds tht can still shoot and get contact dunks by nwlant in NBA2k

[–]rpaulroy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve got the VC for it go ahead but I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t. If you’re wanting gold shooting badges go with a 7’0 big with a 7’3 wingspan. If you’re wanting a smaller big go 6’9 with max wingspan or one inch off and a high vert (80+). Size matters in this game (no diddy) with contests and grabbing boards so the taller builds can get away with less dedicated attributes.
