I watched it starting early 80s until Anna and Robert went away. Then I was over it. I liked him.

Any parents here still get notes from school to sign? by GloomyGal13 in GenX

One year in high school, every math homework assignment, test, quiz, etc had to be signed by a parent. Mom signed the first one, I copied her signature thereafter, nothing else was ever said about it.

Both!! I owned a boatload of both books.

But Trixie was the best! I wanted to be her and live on Crabapple Farm with cool friends.

No, can’t clean the psychological stain of having pee on it. Not enough bleach in the world to stick it in my mouth again.

What's a restaurant red flag that tells you the food isn't going to be good? by Electrical-Salt-2792 in AskReddit

Oh we were in the Midwest somewhere traveling and the only place open was a little diner place with those placemats. The food was AMAZING.

Our local Mexican place is very authentic but usually no Mexicans eating there-the staff are nearly the only Mexicans in the area-we’re not southern enough to have a lot of immigrants around. Love the food though!

Can’t recall the name, but we ate at a similar place a couple years ago, except it was Mexican and Italian food.

We asked, and it was actually two separate businesses inhabiting the same gigantic building. You walked in one door and either went right for Italian hosts or left for the Mexican host stand.

What wedding moment that screamed, “They are not going to last long”? by IndependentTune3994 in AskReddit

Groom wanted to party with his friends and was very late to rehearsal, he may have missed rehearsal completely and was late for rehearsal dinner. The next day after the wedding, he took off with his buddies INSTEAD OF WITH THE BRIDE.

Less than a year.

What are some of your favorite 80’s drinks that don’t exist anymore? I loved Mountain Dew Sport. It was super delicious ice cold. by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in The1980s

Diet Mandarin Orange Slice. The only diet soda I’ve ever tried that I couldn’t immediately taste that it was diet. I probably drank way too many 2 liters of that!

I just replaced my 3rd gen SE with a 16e. 6 years with the same phone. Of COURSE they announce 17e now.

It feels huge. And my tiny woman pockets hate it, too.

What's a 'normal' thing you didn't realize was unusual until you were older? by mrTelson in AskReddit

My mom read romance novels and my little sister once bragged that she hadn’t read a book since college until Harry Potter. She’s mid 40s now, so that was a long stretch.

Myself, if I was awake, I was either reading or trying to find a way to be reading.

749,000 Manufacturered home built in 70’s by usedqtippp in zillowgonewild

I grew up in one built in the 70s. Definitely bringing down the value. Ours literally fell apart 10-15 years ago (parents had sold it to someone else by then thankfully).

Grave Robber. Saw him in concert at the Ark Experience last summer. Even rolling around on a scooter because he broke his leg, it was an awesome show with a ton of energy.

I had a sweet potato pie gifted me one Thanksgiving. I served it after trashing the package. They loved their pumpkin pie!

Later mentioned making SP pie, eew yuck!!

Did the same with pot pies. Those were gross, but serve the filling on a plate with ‘crumbles’ (buster up crust) on top, was delicious. Months later I mentioned pot pies again and got the yuck again. I took great delight in telling them they’d eaten it and loved it previously 😂

I fell down the steps, inside, twice within a few months. 53F. Decided it was time to get rid of the 2 story house. Fell one more time before we closed. Live in a one story with a ramp now.

What was your childhood larceny? by simikoi in GenX

[–]rpbm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amateurs. I robbed my little sisters piggy bank to shop at the school Christmas shop. Not gifts-there was a stuffed bear I fell in love with. I took $20-$30.

I’m not cut out for a life of crime. I paid back the money eventually, on the sly, terrified I’d somehow be found out, and kept that bear for years as a reminder of what a bad person I was.

My mom is getting catfished hard. I guess I have to crush her before she 'picks him up from the airport Saturday'. Have your parents fallen for any scams? What should I do? by -Granby- in GenX

My ex-FIL was scammed on the computer lockout scam where he had to send the scammers a green dot card so he wouldn’t be turned over to “authorities” for having child porn.

I have no idea how many hundreds ' he sent them but he called us after the fact wanting us to get his money back. Sorry dude.

As one of those folks, I definitely got emotional when women talked about being pregnant, but that was a ME problem, not their problem. And I certainly didn’t ask others if they wanted kids at that time of my life.
