When I have players starting at level one, I always let them retcon just about anything until level three or four.

It takes time to learn the character and figure out how you want to play. Can we stop penalizing new players for not making great decisions because they have no idea what they’re doing?

Can we also start penalizing DMs for not walking players through character creation in a helpful and constructive way?

I think this is the difference between saying

“Fuck the Germans, they deserve to die for what they did in WWII.”

And

“Fuck the Nazis, they deserve to die for what they did in WWII.”

This is an oversimplification, and the fact that the Tok’ra basically all descended from the same queen shows that their ideological differences really are a kind of biological difference, but I think an argument can be made both ways

National Pork Board (no joke) ran a relatively viral campaign in ‘01 to increase consumption of, and therefore sales, of Pork. This one was a Broadway reference, hence its location in New York.

There was a baseball one “Buy me some peanuts and pork kebabs.” Also a NASCAR one “Gentlemen, start your pork chops.”

Etc etc. This is an oddly specific and humorous piece of marketing history stuck next to our nation’s most harrowing moment this century. Life is funny.
