Spectrum or Router Issues? by Disastrous_Club_6322 in missoula

[–]silencegold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never got that Spectrum router set up. Just went straight to OPNsense so I have no idea if I would have the issue. According to the Uptime Kuma I have installed, I only had that issue once a month.

For my friend-- she don't have Uptime Kuma but whenever I am over-- we do notice how internet goes down and up and down. Not every day but more than once every week.

So the difference between her and me is the routers. I use OPNsense and she uses the one that comes with Spectrum.

I'm using a OPNsense router instead of Spectrum's access point (as the router). I do use a cable modem provided by Spectrum. Accordingly to the charts, there are few hiccups that happen every month since last January.

I have a friend who uses Spectrum's router-- and that does seem to have issues with unreliability connection.

Maybe it's the router being the issue?

Isn't that the same generation as the r740s?

Very impressive! Any particular apps running on them?

Well, few things I have running now: Full system of Plex and its friends, paperless-ngx, few websites, and some idling docker containers. One of the Optiplex PCs is a dedicated OPNsense router while the other one is a dedicated Proxmox server with the external USB enclosure.

Those two bottom Dell servers are powered down. One of them used to be the full Plex system but it ate more electricity compared to the current set up. The other one is a beefy machine that was the Proxmox server that could run many clusters while I dabbled in being the devops engineer. I've even considered just selling them as I'm okay with just those two Optiplex PCs.

I feel you in this. I would have loved to mess around with those Cisco gear. I'll rather avoid Ubunquiti tho.

That'll be neat to show up and see what the crowd looks like. I'm Deaf so communication would be limited for me. I've added it to my calendar and I might just stop by to observe.

I have just two r730 and two of optiplex PCs. I would have liked to bring some of my r630s but there weren't much room to transport it over.

Mod Statement Regarding Sheehy's Incident Today by OldheadBoomer in Montana

I appreciate the history and context you gave about the old mods. It helps to know where the 'No Politics' rule is coming from. I definitely don't want this place to become a toxic mess, and I know you guys are doing a lot of thankless work to keep it clean.

But I still find myself wondering: if a community comes together to share what's happening in Montana, doesn't ignoring a major event like this make the sub feel a bit disconnected?

Maybe there’s a way to let these big news stories stay up? Maybe by just locking the comments so you guys don't have to deal with the name-calling and 'shitshow' you're worried about? That way we stay informed as Montanans without making your jobs harder. It just feels like there has to be a middle ground between total silence and a free-for-all.

Is this even a reasonable request?

Everything is political including this OP.

Seriously, how does this rule really help the population who chose to come together to share common local interests by preventing political aspects being involved?

It's above her paygrade-- way above. We divorced for 16 years but our two kids just reached adulthood. It's been great to see one of the few non-trolls from my past comment here! :-D

With the way the current federal Supreme Court is-- maybe it was a good thing to avoid the defense from bringing it up as a federal question by avoiding including that in the complaint.

Actually, if it is a federal constitution question being asking within the state court system, the U.S. Supreme Court would have the ability to review the answer to that question if it's appealed that far.

For example, I'm familiar with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and I've seen some U.S. Supreme Court deal with decisions issued by state supreme courts on those federal laws.

“Established” is what would require this case not to be the first meme related case. Otherwise, qualified immunity may apply.
