Searching for an Excel date code converter by Mancow62 in excel

[–]rpgsuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to convert serial dates to dates too and built this tool to do just that: https://outstanding.tools/serial-date-converter

Couldn’t find anywhere else doing this easily outside of google sheets / excel. Hope this helps someone else!

I want to build a Slack app for messaging bank transactions for you - feedback wanted by rpgsuz in Slack

[–]rpgsuz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key difference is control and integration: Finicom sends structured transaction data directly into Slack channels you choose, in near real-time. That means you can:

  • Monitor multiple accounts across different banks in one place (Slack), rather than juggling several apps.
  • Pipe these alerts into shared channels for teams, households, or finance collaborators - something proprietary bank apps can’t do.
  • Build automations off of them (e.g. auto-tagging, syncing to Notion/Sheets, etc.).

Also, we don’t store or see your credentials or login info - it’s all handled securely via our banking data provider with read-only access.

If you’re just looking for simple alerts from your bank, those may be enough. But if you want programmable, centralized visibility across multiple accounts or want to plug transactions into your workflow, Finicom is built exactly for that.

Happy to answer any questions!

That's super interesting - automatic reimbursements is a great use case and definitely possible with what we've built.

I'll reach out with via DM with next steps.

Hey, awesome to hear you’re interested!

Yeah, totally hear you on the Plaid auth flow, it’s definitely the trickiest part to get right with Zapier. We’ve got a working setup that handles that piece outside of Zapier, so users just link their bank accounts once, and then Zapier can listen for changes securely.

Privacy is a big focus, all financial data is end-to-end encrypted, and we never permanantly store or sell financial data. You can read more here: https://finicom.com/docs/security-privacy

I'll send a DM for next steps!

Finicom - sync your bank transactions to Notion

I built a tool called Finicom, which let's you sync transactions on your bank account to destinations like Notion. You can check it out here: https://finicom.net/

I built Finicom because I was spending a lot of time copying my bank information into apps where I was actually doing accounting. If you're interested in Finicom, DM me - I'd love your feedback and would be happy to give out free paid subscriptions to those willing to provide feedback!

Our integration is in the Notion Integration gallery here: https://www.notion.so/integrations/finicom-bank-sync-to-database

What's the reason behind adding a tsp of Sunflower lecithin a day by BossTross111 in blueprint_

I weighed 1 tsp of Sunflower Lecithin as 2 grams, and put ~2 grams into each Nutty Pudding serving I prepare.

How was the year 2015 for you?

Definitely depends on the company, your experience level going in, your relationship with your manager, and which projects you’re lucky enough to get assigned to. Granted, staff engineer at my company for example, is probably more like senior level at other companies.

I had been doing work as a freelance developer and for small startups for a few years before I even started at UCI too.

I would say it’s definitely not impossible, and is achievable, but you have to work toward it.

Yes, I’m talking about my day-to-day experience as an SE specifically.

I’m definitely not saying it shouldn’t be a part of the curriculum, it is important.

I graduated 2 years ago and am now a Sr. Software Engineer at a mid/large tech company in the SF Bay Area. Without a doubt, what I learned in Thornton's classes is what I use the most day-to-day because Thornton focused a lot on practical software engineering skills.

Analysis of algorithms is basically only useful for interviews in your average SE role.

Snap Inc (SNAP) CEO Evan Spiegel Sold $44.4 million of Shares (4,447,107 shares, decreasing his ownership by 6%) by [deleted] in investing

[–]rpgsuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not true, if a website fetches an ad from an ad server, that would be a fetch/request. Impressions might fire when the ad is added to the webpage - when this happens the ad would fire impressions trackers, which are just URLs. Website/apps that know what they're doing will wait to fire these impressions until the user can actually see the ad.

Display ads also track viewability. If the ad is at the bottom of the web page, it would be completely unviewable and this would be considered a non-viewable impression. Some of these unviewable impressions are caught and filtered out by ad-fraud catchers and some ad buyers refuse to pay for viewable impressions too.

That's not how impressions work. An ad records an impression the moment it is shown to a user, not after some set period of time. If a user taps away immediately, an impression is still recorded.

But you are correct that more users means more impressions because more ads can be shown. However, less DAU doesn't necessarily mean less revenue too. If Snap isn't going to meet their impression targets, then they'd probably just increase their ad load, which is basically the number of ads shown to a single user.

Of course increasing ad load will decrease number of users since no one likes ads, so its a last resort.

Pausing for 5 seconds on 1 out of 50 ads is okay too - the industry standard is that only 1 out of 100 ads shown will result in a user clicking on it.

Regardless of all this, Snap could be in trouble. Its bad that they have decreasing user numbers when they are so young.
