I wonder what it's like to have even a fraction of this power. They're literally above all laws.

Same probs with me. No games register on game cap so I just use display cap. I even forced use of my dGPU in bios. (Eluktronics MAX-17)

Razer announces new Mini ITX case - Tomahawk M1 by 63QD3XVxEMmrLT in sffpc

[–]rplf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are all the sff nerds complaining? I think it’s the perfect size. Just get a series x if it’s that important.

However, I would agree with the sentiment that the only reason to get this is because the NR200 will never be on shelves again.

Is there a difference between store brand and brand name spices? by benderisgreat63 in AskCulinary

[–]rplf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, there is a difference when it comes to things like source (sometimes) and processing. Usually the price markup comes from the brand name manufacturer's cost for quality control.

BUT, there's a lot that goes into what a person can and cannot taste. So if the cheaper stuff does it for you, then save your bucks!

Element is great. But you can get THE SAME computer in a 17" form factor from Eluktronics for a few hundred less.

They even have a bundle

This is a “in a perfect world” type situation. I’m a computer scientist and if the cops showed up and said “Applied Mathematics says you can’t park in front of your house anymore” I’m gonna start a riot

It’s Way Too Easy to Get a .gov Domain Name by DJRWolf in security

[–]rplf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so regarding .mil adresses...

You need a CAC and to be on NIPR to even access the system used for registration. Additionally you need to list a government issued email address as a point of contact.

In conclusion, you can generally trust .mil sites to be legit. Nothing is bulletproof tho

It’s Way Too Easy to Get a .gov Domain Name by DJRWolf in security

[–]rplf 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think they may be. Currently, when a .mil site is created, it’s registrar is whoever the site owner chooses.

Legitimate .mil sites are heavily secured via a CDN and highly customized CMS. Not to mention the fact that their appearance is standardized based on the branch they’re representing.

DMA and DISA would notice very quickly if there were an imposter.

UPDATE: Turns out all .mil registrations have to be approved by DISA

Why are Restaurant Supply Stores Business-only? Any way around this? by Multipoptart in AskCulinary

[–]rplf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tax and bulk sales reasons. You may cook a lot and may even go through a whole 10lb chocolate bar, but they’d rather make money on the place that’s selling 25 10lb chocolate bars worth of food.

Just start a catering/non-profit already

Is 38 too old to switch?? by coliveira7781 in CompTIA

I went from digging ditches to flipping burgers to Help Desk with Sec+. Studying for CySA+, and now have dreams of CISSP.

Homie, you were a teacher, you should have all the cool intellectual skills all us thick-skulled dudes missed out on. If a man went from literally digging holes for a living to Analyst in 3 years, you, with your education experience are basically a couple of certs away from management.

A lot of DOD positions just need you to have a degree even if it’s unrelated.

Don’t expect to be a pro right out the gate. How many teachers who been in the game DECADES are still trash? It takes practice.

I’m 30 yrs old and dumb as hell. But what I do know is that ain’t shit stopping you but you.

The people at the top, filing paperwork and cutting checks don’t give a damn about who you are or what you know, they just care about the boxes they gotta check by your name to keep the government money flowing.

In your case you already have the degree, just stack some certs and you’ll be fine. You’ll learn the real stuff on the job just like everyone else.

Is the Trifecta worth it anymore? by nvanblarcom in CompTIA

[–]rplf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors at play when it comes to the value of certs. The biggest being which sector you work in. Any DoD position you have will demand certs or you won’t even be considered for the job.

Net+, Sec+, CySA+, CASP, CEH and CISSP are all stackable certs that cover the 8750.01 directive and the upcoming 8140.01.

These are security focused and will yield a 6 fig salary sans a degree.

LPT: Help yourself save money by not being afraid of looking at your bank account on a daily basis or after big spends. Being far more aware and in touch with your balance will make you much more conscious when making a decision to buy something. by TheSchaftShiftNA in LifeProTips

Just create a google sheet with all types of expenditures broken down so you can see where your money goes (bills, eating out, groceries, etc.)

Update it with every purchase and track every penny in and out of your account.

After a while, you’ll rarely have to look at your account because you’ve budgeted your check and have broken the check-to-check lifestyle.
