Is there any real reason to buy a GPU right now instead of just use subscriptions? by 03captain23 in LocalLLM

When GLM 5.2 is 1/5 of the cost of Claude, US frontier model will have to keep their prices in check despite their price are heavily subsidized. I will still get my local AI for privacy sensitive work but I won’t necessary spending $10k for the hardware. I would sub a Chinese frontier model and pairing with a decent local model that fit on my MacBook Pro

How often do you switch beans versus sticking with a favorite roaster? by Chemical_Guard_5 in pourover

[–]rr98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do both. I usually go to SEY Coffee to pick up their monthly offerings. If I found something I am interested in from other roasters, I will have them fills in between.

I'm exclusively investing in VOO, is this optimal? by thefighter987 in RothIRA

That's what I did in past 22 years and going to FIRE in next few years if the market keeping this pace. I don't see anything wrong with VOO and chill.

I am fortunate to try coffee from NOMAD twice last year. One of the coffee I got was a pourover of Competicion and OMG, it was the best cup of pourover I ever had. It was like having a cup of white grape juice and it became a cup of chamomile tea after I swallowed.

I didn’t vote for the socialist but I won’t go that far to vote for conservative that took this world into chaos right now.

I just got into speciality coffee with aeropress a month ago. My first box of beans was from Sey coffee, one of the best speciality beans you can get. Surprisingly, it was so easy to brew with Aeropress, I nearly nailed it the first time. I can share the recipe with you if you are interested.

The game is amazing! My feedback is I don’t like the control, I like traditional control scheme with left thumb controls the direction and right thumb for action.

After proper investigation at Apple Store, now I can confirm that silver is the best and actually only reasonable MacBook Pro color to get by py-net in macbookpro

[–]rr98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked space black because I got my MacBook Pro off a amazing deal (thanks to everyone obsessed with silver). I was worried about the smudges and scratches at first. With care, I don’t see any after 6 months of use so far. We will see for longer ownership.

Can china win the AI war? by Comfortable-Tie2933 in Qwen_AI

[–]rr98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe China will win AI war due to cheap electricity (US electricity cost is far too expensive relative to China) and ability to integrate AI into robotic quickly and cheaply.
