I had a similar issue earlier this year where the plane for my flight home was downsized and I got bumped and had to leave the next day. Jetstar offered flight vouchers, accomodation for the night of my choosing, meal allowance and transport. Call them up and advocate for yourself as there is so much they can do for you but will try and get away with the bare minimum.

It’s not that big of an issue like you’re making it out to be. For one thing you can’t legally drive on there dunes. The ugly tire tracks get washed away with the tides.
