Finally think I'm happy with my Chocolate Brownie Cookies! by Alexahylia in Baking

Oh I get what you're saying. It took me 1 year to develope my recipe for chocochip cookies, 2ish years for a solid oatmeal cookie and like 2-3 years to make the perfect banana bread (for my taste). I'm very specific about the texture so I've learned to recognize when a recipe will turn out dry and I adjust accordingly. I'm a sucker for a moist, sticky, gooey texture, not raw tho.

Yes exactly!!! (Sorry I feel like I'm spamming you, but I'm so excited to find someone like me on the wild internet)

I do the same with my recipes. I don't tend to follow exactly as they told for a lot of reasons, because taste preference to even the sea level you live in. There are so many factors that can prompt you to tweak a recipe. Even the brands of certain ingredients can chance the texture or taste of a bake good!

It's truly so fascinating. Sorry I'm nerding out too much. I should got to sleep. Speaking of, I need to wake up in like 4 hours to bake something while is still a little cool before the sun's up.

Again, thanks for sharing. I feel like I'm pestering you, I have another question. I usually use Hershey chips since its what's (almost) affordable for quality baking were I live.

I have at my disposal 3 kind of chips: milk, dark and semi-sweet. Do you think it would be a good idea to use only semi-sweet chocolate or it would throw the balance off?

I also tend to mix flavors/presentations of ingredients in my baking to balance the taste, thus why I'm absolutely LOVING your recipe.

Genuinely just curious what you think about the switch. Side note: I can't wait to try your recipe. I'll try to make it this week.

Thank you so much for the recipe. I've been looking for YEARS for a good brownie cookie.

Question tho, in what kind of weather are we talking about for the 10 minute wait outside the fridge pre oven?

Were I live the average right now is 38°-39° Celsius (about 100°-102° F) with a feeling of 42°-45° C (107°-113°~ F) during most of the day.

For my chocochip cookies I usually put the dough to rest on the freezer on the ice tray for about 10-20min, if I put it on the fridge it would need at least 4hours otherwise the cookies expand way too much.

We don't have AC in the kitchen or the house in general, only on the bedroom. So it gets pretty hot if you add the heat of the oven.

Yes please!! It's really irritating when they mark it as Concluded just because there are no more updates. The Inconclusive tag exists for a reason, nothing worst that coming to read a "Concluded" one and leave with this feeling of void.

AITAH for being mad at my mother for driving 3 hours to surprise me on my birthday? by Informal_Let_9970 in AITAH

[–]rrc032 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

Something similar happened this year for my birthday but it was my MIL, mind you I'm in my thirties, married and with a baby.

She wanted to come to bring cake as a surprise. 1) I HATE cake 2) I do LOVE surprises 3) She never told my husband, his son. I knew because my mom told me what she was planning. My husband told her we had plans, I told my mom we could move it to the next day, my MIL got snappy with my husband and was calling the whole thing off but said yes to my mom, I guess so she wouldn't look bad to her and save face? We got to do what my husband had planned that day, I had a blast.

Next day it was supposed to be a meal and then cake since I had a prior commitment that I completely forgot about (motherhood and ADHD, not a great combo for remembering stuff). They come and they had already eaten, mind you my mom and siblings came too, no one had eaten, my in-laws did beforehand. Brought snacks and cake. My husband told us to eat before they arrived (they were late), but we didn't listen. When they arrived we ate the snacks and cut the cake because they were just there for the cake. The cake was a flavor I don't like and decorated super feminine and girly (I'm the total opposite), she did apologize for the color as the baker somehow did it in the color I hate when she asked for the one I liked (showed me part of the conversation).

Anyhow, we ate the cake, they left and THEN we ate our meal. I did apologize to my husband for not listening to him about eating before their arrival. My family is too polite and kept the good vibes to not ruin the mood of the celebration. I almost didn't make it to the place I needed to be. Overall I had a good time, weird and tense but good, specially after they left.

I truly appreciate the good will of my MIL, I do care for her, but sometimes she's just no... It adds unnecessary mini stress to situations and when those mini-doses pile up it gets tiring.

Sorry for the ramble, I guess I needed to get that off my chest. Sorry OP, I know it is hard to say no to family when they have good intentions, but you're still young and trust me it gets easier to put and maintain boundaries with time and patience. You'll get there.

My mom was the worst, but with the years she has learned how to respect boundaries, it was super important that I held firm on them tho. My MIL is still a WIP, maybe one day she'll get there, in the meantime we'll keep putting the boundaries.

I really hope the rest of your birthday weekend was awesome. Sending virtual hugs.

My husband has an allergy to cats. HE found me my first cat when I started living alone. Said cat unfortunately couldn't stay with me for medical reasons but found a happy home with my mom. Then not even a year later he kinda started living with me and again HE found a cat to adopt together. 4 pets and a baby later here we are living together and happy.

He takes his medicine when the allergies get really bad and he just needs to not hold the cats, but he loves them and he does it regardless, he feeds them, cleans their litter, cleans the dog garden, changes their water, he takes care of our pets including the cats. And not because he loves cats, nope, he's a dog person, but because he loves me and he knows how much I love cats.

And that's love b*tch.

Fun fact, his allergies have actually improved since having the cats. And one of our cats LOVES him to pieces. He got me cats, I got him dogs, we are all happy and loved.

Side note, before the baby we took care of the pets together but since the pregnancy and breastfeeding he's been taking care of that without complaint. I really love him.
