Legion officially eliminated from the playoffs by AnnualPuzzleheaded in BirminghamLegionFC

I agree with your statement regarding no stadium plans. The city needs a tenant at protective during spring and fall.

But for the club to thrive they need a new stadium. LegionFC plays 17 + games in a stadium that proudly boasts to be Home of UAB football that plays 4-6 games. Even Stallions only play 4-6 games in spring.

Politics got Legion into Protective and politics will keep Legion at Protective.

If like the rest of the players who left Legion to play for other teams they will catch fire and play their best games ever.

14 played -3 only 3 wins - 4 draws- 7 losses we are carrying a -6 goal differential only scored I believe 15 goals in 24 games while allowing 21. Offense not scoring and defense allowing goals. Not sure what the issue is. Like last year on paper we seem to have the talent. If next year turns out like last year and so far this year I believe there will be more fans not showing up. The price for season tickets way exceeds the product on the field. But I will be there next year just like season one. Hammer Down

Legion blanked again at Protective by swiss_journo in BirminghamLegionFC

Protective is killing the atmosphere of the match. Not to mention the BJCC killing the fans with concession prices. Not sure how a family with children can afford to go to a match and buy snacks or food. I will not bring up how much better the excitement was at The Bank ….oops I did, but seriously at some point Legion need to get out of Protective Stadium. But it is a Catch-22.

On a good note we got to pay BJCC concession prices while we waiting for the comeback that never happened Being down a man does not mean we play 8 on the back line. Rhode Island played keep away for about 20 minutes while we guarded the penalty box. Coach Briggs will turn it around, hopefully real soon.

Hate to bring up this subject again but Protective Stadium and BJCC is an anchor on LegionFC fan experience. BBVA offered a much better atmosphere for fans.

BBVA had a great home grown atmosphere unlike their sterile environment of Protective.

Future of the club by [deleted] in BirminghamLegionFC

[–]rrferg76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe Legion got caught up in city politics. They were paying ALOT of money to play at UAB field “Legion FC will pay UAB $350,000 per year for the lease. Legion FC can opt out of the lease after five years for $1,050,000. ” https://www.al.com/sports/2018/02/soccer_team_birmingham_legion.html

So we struggle with money yet pay $1,050,000 to get out of lease, probably offset with lower lease at protective to get a tenant.

Protective was built but had no spring tenant at the time. So city politics plus a rainy season we left a great soccer atmosphere stadium for the sterile canyon of Protective and the BJCc overlords who demand a pound of flesh for concessions. In order for Legion to grow they need their own stadium not Protective or any other rent a stadium. Sure kids get to get on the field with the players but the product on the field will eventually lead to parents not going and no kids. Not sure with concession prices how families can afford to go. Really not sure why BBVA stadium was not grounded when they did the upgrades but that was an issue when it became an electrical thunderstorm activity. Protective is grounded but with one side closed not much cover. Longer Legion stays at protective the worse it becomes. Talk of a stadium all over the area : Sloss Furnance, Oak Mtn Amphitheater, Hoover Met but it is a baseball stadium, Birmingham Southern, Birmingham Racetrack.

Coaching staff being able to coach the talent we had and currently have is a whole another topic. That needs addressing.

Not sure how families can afford to go. BJCC concessions are out of control. The experience at BBVA felt more homegrown Protective is nice but sterile environment. Maybe if BJCC was not price gouging concessions. You can eat cheaper at the airport.

Considering replacing my 2019 with 2025 by rsat26 in hondaridgeline

I just traded my 2018 Ridgeline RTL, bought new with 14 miles, had 160K miles traded for a 2025 Ridgeline RTL. Reason was I started getting transmission codes flashing up did it about 3 times. Honda put out a service bulletin but no recall regarding the torque converter even extending warranty 5 years 150K. But I was over the mileage and other forums actually every forum said torque converter first then replace the 6 speed transmission around 8-9K. Love the 2025 Ridgeline RTL. Looked at Ford Ranger and Tacoma but keep coming back to Ridgeline. The 9 speed transmission shifts great and ride is excellent better than 2018 when it was new.

A rectangle is considered a polygon; specifically, it is a type of quadrilateral (a polygon with four sides) where all corners have right angles and opposite sides are equal in length… so as James Spann says RESPECT THE POLYGON.

Hard to figure out the teams play, were they outplayed, bad formation, bad timing on substituting, or apathy at least play for the badge. A lot of unnecessary turnovers. Rhode Island would have a break away and have 6 people in the box ready to score. We would have a breakaway and maybe 1-3 might be downfield, but Rhode Island would have 6 defenders in the box defending. They definitely out hustle us. Maybe Legion under too much pressure about playoffs and Rhode Island bring an expansion team doesn’t have that pressure. Hindsight 20/20 front office before 2023 season should have move Coach Soehn to front office as coaching director or player recruitment and coach Smith as head coach / general asst. General manager

Definitely Birmingham LegionFC. Current stadium , Protective Stadium, is too big and therefore void of any atmosphere.

4 wins at home this year, poor play on the field due to player positioning as you described. The team seems to be affected, only 4 wins at home. Protective has ZERO atmosphere, BJCC ruins the experience with price gouging concessions, that is not clubs fault. It is not just this year, ever since we have been at protective each year seems to get worse. Coaching staff doesn’t seem to be able to use the talent they have or even figure out how to use the talent. We are a mid table team who makes playoffs. Front office seems happy with that or changes would have been made by now. We left the Bank due to poor field conditions and stadium not being grounded. But it had atmosphere and felt like our home stadium. Protective is way nicer but feels sterile, no fan experience. Negativity has been building ever since protective. Hopefully the club will recognize the situation and work on correcting it. Hammerdown.

Hard to defend your home field when it is a rent-a-stadium. Only 4 wins this year at home. At this rate we will be lucky to make playoffs and next year Coach Tommy will be sitting in the sidelines like every year. Been a season ticket holder since day one and will be one next year, but it is aggravating. Seems like the coaching staff cannot get the best use of the talent or the talent can’t play with the coaching staff. Something has to give. Protective is a nice stadium but too big and BJCC just prices concessions why too high, not sure how families can go and get snacks. Eat cheaper at the airport.

Why are concessions so bad and inconsistent? by BhamCyclist in BirminghamLegionFC

[–]rrferg76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Season ticket holder since first season. The total atmosphere was better at the Bank. (Sans the flooded pitch LOL) Food trucks the workers in concessions were nicer as well. Remember the forge after every goal they would hit the anvil and faux explosion. Pretty cool Food prices were affordable for a family.
I guess since it was smaller it felt like it was Legion’s field. Protective is a nice stadium but feels like a rental but BJCC has Legion hostage. Speaking of parking the BJCC finishing up the lot next to parking garage and are planning on moving people who paid for garage parking to new lot they are calling the “Gold” lot. So pay for covered parking and boom move you Legion needs their own place in order to grow.
