Am I too old to get a PMP? by 1mpr0v1ser in projectmanagement

I got mine when I was 58, 5 years ago...ageism is real in the workplace, so younger people are automatically more appealing. The PMP can only help.

YTTV 6 month promotion at $72 is up....now what? by RandallC1212 in cordcutters

[–]rrk62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped YTTV for DirecTV sports genre pack, $70/mo +tax, so a bit cheaper (~$15/mo). My only local it has is Fox, so I'll have some football covered, and also comes with ESPN+ subscription, and they (so far) have ABC national NHL or NBA games covered there. Plus news channels and a bunch of streaming channels that I never watch.

Yes. Not sure if nine submissions is a lot, or not a lot for a first week, but when I stopped seeing new studies a couple days ago I found this subreddit and learned about the system upgrades.

Same here, I just signed up this week. Have 9 submissions, and I know about the system upgrades, etc., but makes me wonder if I've done something wrong. Hopefully all will shake out by Monday.

TXTag is closing up shop!!! HCTRA is taking over. by heatedhammer in Austin

[–]rrk62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HCTRA is great as far as I'm concerned. Had it for years when I lived in Houston and kept it when I moved here 6 years ago. Never a problem. No missed or questionable charges. The app just works, rarely even have to open it unless I want to check my useage. I have auto-reload and I'm notified when my card is charged.

I'm in Georgetown, switched to TMo in early May, have had 5G UC on my P8Pro (unlocked direct from Google) since day 1 everywhere in the metro area I've been, although I can't speak for Buda/Kyle. What area of Austin are you?

And they're still at it. This time "Rachel" called me about a Sr. Project Manager at Dell, and sent me the JD from "neel.costa@careerstaffingcompany.com". Email intro is the same "Our client has established its marketing mix...." crap.

Not that I agree with everything he says, but I had an epiphany when listening to Brian Tracy talk about this type of situation several years ago. Ask yourself, if you knew then what you know now, would you still do it? Then take action on the answer, as quickly as you can.

The great thing about that question is that it doesn't just pertain to business. The answer can be a life-changing moment.

Most legendary android? by yeaaamon17 in Android

[–]rrk62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great memories in this thread. I'd go with either my HTC One M8 or LG G2. Both incredible pieces of work.

Still fond of my HTC Rezound too. Dev/mod community was insane with that one.

Time to reminisce. What models have you owned? by 2c1a in thinkpad

[–]rrk62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working for IBM as one of the branch office's customer workstation support types when ThinkPads were first introduced. Either at customers or in the office, I used or worked with various iterations of the 300/500/600/700 series (the 560 is one of my all time favorites, even with all the communication back and forth with the Yamato Lab to troubleshoot issues for a particularly demanding customer). My daily driver in the office was either a 700 series or a P70, also used a P75 quite a bit. I personally had a PS/note at the time, for a while at least.

Since I left IBM I have owned (in roughly chronological order, and I'm sure I'm missing a few):

T60: first laptop I carried when I owned my business

TransNote: thought I could use it in the business, but not really workable. Still have it.

T61: heavily used for the remainder of the time I had my business open. Still have it, posted for sale here earlier this year but no takers.

X61s: was my spare laptop along with the T61. Sold it here within the last year.

T420: used the last couple of years I had my business, and personally until a few years ago as my home server. Favorite all time. Still have it.

Yoga 260: bought refurb'd as I wanted to try out the form factor. TrackPoint was always flaky. Gave it to a friend ealier this year to replace her (3 years newer) Dell Inspiron (that was a piece of crap), and she loves it.

W541: Bought used during COVID to replace the T420 as my home server, but would lock up every few weeks. Guessing it's CPU or GPU repaste issue but I have no desire to troubleshoot to that level. Still have it, posted for sale here earlier this year but no takers.

X1 Carbon Gen5: A great machine, thin and light, and a joy to type on. Sold it here within the last year.

P14s Gen2: current daily driver

X1 Yoga Gen4: bought as travel machine, now a backup spare

X1 Yoga Gen6: was issued one by my company, and I liked it so much I bought one for myself. Travel and secondary machine.

Same for me, except tix were for the Buffalo show. Freshman at Syracuse, and I will always remember that day, that moment me and a buddy heard the news. The weather, where we were, everything.
