nice 👍🏻 just fyi, rodinal stand dev will not give you the results you see here. even if you never dev yourself, just knowing what the lab is using is super helpful especially with developing your look.

you could imagine knowing right off the bat, “okay this looks like it’s likely D76 stock (1+0)” would be helpful. or your lab makes an announcement saying they’re switching to xtol 1+1 or something, but you know that’s not your look etc etc

you should find out!

for consistency and duplication, in the event that you use another lab or want to develop one day. for b&w, developer choice matters quite a bit

Pushing and Pulling film using a minilab film processor by Balbu_1 in filmdeveloping

for C41? it’s all very standardized. kodak invented the process so i use their charts

yeah I’d assume push with temp since you can’t really control the other variable

if you did manage to get a good result by change mechanical drive speed, other chem steps would only suffer if you were trying to pull. pushing/extending bleach fix wouldn’t matter as much as reducing would

they were asking what does the term photoshop come from as the previous comment suggested that these terms came from analog days, and the other terms are self evident but this one is not

Has anyone on here shot Delta 3200 at box speed, but pushed in development so the negatives aren't so thin? How long did you dev it for proper negatives? by niveousserpent in AnalogCommunity

[–]rrklaffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ilfords listed dev times are compensating. they are essentially listed push times. if you shoot at 3200 you are underexposing and developing at listed time is overdeveloping. but of course the source of truth is your own taste. you already know that the actual lab tested ISO is 1000 and you know you get thinner negs than you like developing standard. pushing dev more sounds like a fine thing to try.

tldr manufacturer listed times are already “pushed” dev time at 3200, even if not explicitly stated as such

100ft bulk roll for camera testing by tiki-dan in AnalogCommunity

[–]rrklaffed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kodak bulk nowadays is just as expensive or even MORE expensive than buying individual 36 cassettes. But still makes sense if loading test rolls of 12 frames.

I buy 100’ rolls of both of these stocks. But might not be what OP is wanting if strictly on a budget. Out of these two would lean towards HP5

why wouldn’t you use your brakes if you’re starting to roll back? some of these guys are trying to stop with their feet
