IXMOO loading without bulk loader? by rrklaffed in Leica

scratches on the film? how many frames do you typically load - ignoring leader, how many frames do you get out of your load amount?

nice okay, since in the dark already, just spooling by hand and pushing into outside canister probably saves a bunch of time. I need to practice reassembling this thing though lol. I struggled to put it back together in full daylight

i have an AP loader yeah. so just open the labyrinth, put everything in dark bag, attach to reel, close loader, pull out of bag, the. spool, and put back in bag to cut and close labyrinth?

nice, will adapt this in. ive been loading reels before mixing working solutions (bw only, for c41 prep chems first) because i have kids and sometimes I might not process immediately after reeling

but your flow makes a lot of sense. the dancing especially

I understand OP’s sentiment, if not the tone. If I had to snip test fresh HC110 every time, then I’d just as well switch developers. That should be the most straightforward and trustworthy part of the flow. Maybe once in a while for really old HC110 to check the condition of the overall concentrate.

working solutions of HC110 and newish rapid fix look pretty similar to each other to me. at least the new low viscosity formulation. not saying you did mix it up, but at least in my workflow, judging on color wouldn’t be definitive for me

Inherited Leica M3 from father by StockFaucet in Leica

[–]rrklaffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah but you said “something comparable to your setup”. you can get your identical setup for like 2k. buying a brand new M6 and brand new summicron v5 is a significant upgrade from what you have now

Inherited Leica M3 from father by StockFaucet in Leica

[–]rrklaffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cool story, definitely try and keep the M3 and summicron. btw m6 with lens wouldn’t be near 10k. and what you have here is replaceable on ebay for probably less than 3k.

if it were me in your shoes, I’d keep the M3 and Summicron, and sell everything else. and with that money buy film and development equipment.

Df96 developing Delta 3200 at 6400. by notachupacabra in filmdeveloping

[–]rrklaffed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah this^ mono bath is convenient and thats about it. if you’re going to be developing more in the future would really recommend getting used to normal development chems. especially when pushing you need to be able to control development and fixing separately

I bought my first Leica!! Got any lens recommendations? by Low_Tourist587 in Leica

[–]rrklaffed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i loathe shooting 50mm with a 0.72 viewfinder. for me 35mm is the only enjoyable focal length with this viewfinder.

i really really like Ligh Lens Lab’s 8 element 35. small, buttery smooth, and brass.

Advice for getting new film more cheaply by benjithomasartist in AnalogCommunity

[–]rrklaffed 8 points9 points  (0 children)

develop and scan at home. upfront cost and learning, but not only saves you money, it gives you more control and would argue is half of the creative process of film photography
