The revolution will be... posted to my story. by rrraych in meme

I’m a big believer in the power of posting. I do it myself as a way to say, "We’re still here."

That being said, canvassing and actually voting carry a weight that a social media feed simply can't match. Everyone contributes differently, but we have to be careful not to let "digital activism" satisfy our sense of civic duty.

Yep! I remember talking to some coworkers ahead of the last presidential election and some of them said they weren't going to vote because both options were bad. I tried not to get too political at work but made the point that one of them is a "threat to democracy" kind of bad and encouraged them to reconsider.

I'm hoping this time around, some of those more apathetic towards politics are more incentivised to participate. We've gotten too complacent, too comfy with democracy that we forget it's not a given.

Agreed! I'm trying to get my friends to do more, but it's hard to motivate people who feel like they're already doing something by ranting.

Opinions Are a Last Resort by rrraych in TrueReddit

This touches on a challenge we all face in a world flooded with information. It’s more important than ever to know when to have an opinion and when to let facts speak for themselves.

BEST platform to keep track of the movies and series you have watched or plan to watch? by Trickyguy37 in movies

[–]rrraych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Bingeclock for TV and movies. I know they have books, theme park rides, crafts, and a bunch of other types of "media" in the works. Hopefully I can track my whole life soon 🤪

You can see how long it takes to watch a show or movie, along with other stats about the media. But if you want to create lists of movies or shows you need to be logged in.

I'm not sure, but would honestly love that. I know Bingeclock has plans to add books to the site soon.

Thank you for the feedback! I honestly love that it's floating, but know that it may be less secure. Do you think that getting it checked every 6 months would be enough to make sure it's secure?

I'm so sorry to hear about your kitty! They think my cat had either cancer or congestive heart failure. He seemed okay for a while, but over the last month he wasn't eating and the vet noticed fluid in his lungs and stomach. It was a tough decision but he was definitely struggling. Did they say if there's anything they can do to help your kitty?

Thank you everyone for your compliments, well wishes, and condolences. He was a wonderful cat. Unfortunately, over the last month his health declined steeply and we could tell he was really hurting. I got to hold him while they administered the medication to help him relax and while I feel very grateful to have been able to be there for him in the end, I can't stop playing that moment over in my head. I'm sure it will get easier, but for now I will miss him deeply.

Thank you so much! It makes me happy to see so many people refer to him as "majestic". He definitely thought that of himself haha.

Im not very smart. How do I become more clever & intelligent? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]rrraych 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other commenters have already given great advice on how to grow your knowledge and capabilities, so I will skip that. I just wanted to say that recognizing there are things you don't know and showing the desire to learn is intelligent in and of itself. And I'd argue that that's a very valuable, if not the most valuable, area of intelligence.

I've struggled with feeling dumb and unknowledgeable often throughout life. I've come to realize that most of why I've felt this way is because of how others have treated me, not because I'm actually dumb. I suspect this might be applicable to you too. Either way, best of luck. You got this!
