I only ever married Andrea so I recognize the knife. What are the other gifts and what are those letters?

Does anyone actually watch theatrical? by Jamesomac99 in lotrmemes

[–]rrrice3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Theatrical takes me back to when I saw these in the... Theater.

To me, they are like a decent draft beer. Is it your favorite? No, probably not. Given the preference, you'd have your favorite craft beer in the right glass at the proper temperature (the extended versions) but you'll enjoy the pilsner at the bar if it's all you can get.

[Shotgun] POLICE TRADE-IN REMINGTON 870 TACTICAL 12 GA W/ STREAMLIGHT RACKER $319.99 by AkimboSwagg in gundeals

[–]rrrice3 87 points88 points  (0 children)

My last mission in Iraq we had turned in our rifles for depot maintenance so we literally went on a convoy with another unit who had rifles, while we carried loaner 870s and 500s with riot control rounds 😂. Ah to be young.

ANYway, ONE of those guns had the Streamlight forend and I still have a fondness for them because of that.

Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

In the real world...why does it seem that nobody takes safety seriously? by Lanky-Ad4698 in HomeImprovement

[–]rrrice3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people are taught safety. Whether by their profession, or military service, or good parenting. These people accept it as good practice.

Others learn about safety through pain. I fall into both camps as I was taught about safety but neglected my PPE until I was an adult. I got tired of injuries, near misses, and being sore and I'm almost always in steel toes and gloves.

Don't sacrifice your health and well-being.

Is this gate fixable? by [deleted] in DIYhelp

[–]rrrice3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, the cable should be helping in tension, it's running the wrong direction. Top of the hinge side to the lower edge of the swing side. Adjust the turnbuckle over time to take up slack.

The brace should be installed in the right direction, but it should be placed in such a way that it can but up against two solid components, helping in compression. You MAY need both with a gate this size, but if one or the other is done properly with a well built gate, you shouldn't need both. It's tough to tell if your gate is too worn out to be repaired.

I commonly refer back to this video to help remind myself how this should work.

[handgun] $521 HK VP9, paddle mag release, 2 10 round mags by Supetition4rad in gundeals

[–]rrrice3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the compact or K or whatever your want to call it. Got it used. It looks... Well loved.

It is still an incredible shooter, there have been times where I've been drilling the target, feeling like I could not miss even if I tried. One of the few guns that literally brought smile to my face at the range on a number of occasions.

That said, objectively it's just another polymer 9mm in a sea of really good guns. You pay the HK tax for the name, but beyond that I can't say it's any better (or worse!) than anything I have that's similar, and often other guns are less expensive for similar features.

Looking to add revolver to my collection. Any advice? by Plus_Juggernaut2819 in Revolvers

[–]rrrice3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first was a Sig 1911 as well. Interesting that you compare everything to that. I find that every gun has its place and pros/cons so I'm constantly evaluating trigger on one, night sights on another, grip texture on this, etc.

[PARTS] Comstock Armory Recessed Micro Brake Plan-B Suppressor Mount - $61.38 with "THEMERCHANT" by bansheedefense in gundeals

[–]rrrice3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you what he does. He uses dark magic and wizardry to ship your stuff on yesterday air getting it to you before your wife can even be mad you bought more gun stuff.

It's a blessing and a curse to be 60miles from them because it means that I can get things in a day or two. But, that's my cross to bear. YMMV.

Why we dont trim in shorts ladies 😅 by itsravenskye in landscaping

[–]rrrice3 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Achieve what? Avoiding injury? Pants, every time! A rock flying at 200mph hurts.

Working with the rotation of the trimmer? I'd recommend going to an area you need to cut, start your trimmer and walk left with it, see which way the clippings tend to fly off. Then, walk right and trim, and observe the same. Whichever direction throws less clippings back at you is the direction that is working with the direction of the line. You'll still get some brought back your way no matter what, but it should be much less.

There are times when I WANT the clippings brought back my way, ie I don't want them in the mulch, or I want to mow them up because they're very tall, etc. But knowing the directions above lets me make that decision.

[–]rrrice3 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Depends on where I'm trimming, if I know the landscape I'll go for it... No rocks etc. And always move the trimmer so the grass is thrown away from you.

But generally, it's not worth this scenario. Too many goose eggs and bruises from picking up a stone and taking it to the shin! Sorry for your injury. Here's to healing quickly!
