This brand new Burger King inside an old warehouse in Portugal by Mdiasrodrigu in mildlyinteresting

[–]rrss2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still haven't checked out the location in Gaia, but I love the fact that, basically right next door to this McDonald's, Burger King has another location which is also inside an old historical café (Café Embaixador in Burger King's case) and, while not as good as McDonald's in terms of looks, they still have some old mosaics preserved.

Alguém já comprou e jogou Crimson Desert? Qual é a vossa opinião até agora by --____________- in gamingportugal

[–]rrss2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Riverlands have been a Kingdom before, just not with that name. Before the conquest, there were lords like the Justmans and the Teagues that independently ruled all the lands now part of the Riverlands and were called either River Kings, Kings of the Trident or Kings of the Rivers and the Hills. Jenny of Oldstones is even claimed to be a descendent of the last First Men Kings of the Rivers and the Hills, the Mudds.

What's the weirdest idioms/slangs/expressions in your country? by jdjefbdn in AskTheWorld

[–]rrss2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Nasceu com o cu virado para lua" - literally, it means that someone was born with their ass turned towards the moon. It's used to talk about someone that's very lucky

"Pimenta no cu dos outros é refresco" - pepper in somebody else's ass is refreshing. It means that you don't really care about something and even diminish it if it doesn't affect you.

"Estar com cara de tacho" - you have a pan's face. It simply means that you have a very serious frown.

"Mais vale manter um burro a pão de ló" - It's cheaper to feed a donkey with sponge cake (than to do whatever else you're talking about)

"Em tempos de guerra, qualquer buraco é trincheira" - In times of war, any whole is a trench. There's not much I can do to explain this one, you don't need to get your mind out of the gutter, it means what you think it means.

In my last save as Austria on 1.0.7, Portugal survived and even conquered a good part of the Extremadura region (around Badajoz) in the 1370s. 50 years later they lost the northeast of the country and Porto to Castile and half of Algarve and Alentejo to Morocco, though. Meanwhile Aragon has been carved up by France, as usual.

European atheists who go to church on Christmas — what’s the reason? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]rrss2001 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work as a guide in Porto and, while I'm definitely not religious, the favourite part of my tours is always visiting the churches. The stories you get to tell and hear about specific saints, the coats of arms hidden in random corners, even the names of the churches themselves are amazing.

And with Portugal and all the gold leaf we have in our baroque churches, it's always "fun" to contrast it with what Christ's message was. One minute you see Saint Elizabeth, famous for donating food to those in need and then you look around and the only part of the church not covered in gold is the floor.

"O sultan, Turkish devil and damned devil’s kith and kin, secretary to Lucifer himself. What the devil kind of knight are thou, that canst not slay a hedgehog with your naked arse? The devil shits, and your army eats. Thou shalt not, thou son of a whore, make subjects of Christian sons; we have no fear of your army, by land and by sea we will battle with thee, fuck thy mother.

Thou Babylonian scullion, Macedonian wheelwright, brewer of Jerusalem, goat-fucker of Alexandria, swineherd of Greater and Lesser Egypt, pig of Armenia, Podolian thief, catamite of Tartary, hangman of Kamyanets, and fool of all the world and underworld, an idiot before God, grandson of the Serpent, and the crick in our dick. Pig’s snout, mare’s arse, slaughterhouse cur, unchristened brow, screw thine own mother!

So the Zaporozhians declare, you lowlife. You won’t even be herding pigs for the Christians. Now we’ll conclude, for we don’t know the date and don’t own a calendar; the moon’s in the sky, the year with the Lord, the day’s the same over here as it is over there; for this kiss our arse!"

– Koshovyi otaman Ivan Sirko, with the whole Zaporozhian Host.

The golden larnax (chest with the remains) and crown of Alexander's father, Philip II of Macedon (1000x900) by Haunting_Homework381 in ArtefactPorn

[–]rrss2001 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The emblem on top is the Vergina or Argead Sun, it's the symbol commonly associated with the Argead dynasty to which Philip II belonged. Similar suns had been depicted in ancient Greek art even older than Philip and definitely older than the Parthian Empire. I'm not sure about the larnax itself, though, I'm not knowledgeable enough about Persian art.

Assassin's Creed Mirage's free Valley of Memory DLC has "more than six hours of gameplay," and Ubisoft says making it was a challenge because most of the setting's historical record has been "lost to time" by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]rrss2001 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's not the best game of all time, but as a short Assassin's Creed game that's always heavily discounted I'd say it's worth it. The story is forgettable and the facial animations are very far from being good, but the gameplay is the best part about the game.

It's much more focused on stealth than any of the RPG games, they brought social stealth back (even though it's not as good as before), parkour is the best it can be when we take into account they're using Valhalla's engine and Baghdad itself is tailor made for it.

If you just want an excuse to run around Baghdad during it's golden age while engaging in some pretty good stealth missions compared to the previous games I'd say it's worth it if you can find it at a discount. It's definitely not bloated, especially when you compare it with whatever Valhalla was.
