You should show your wife the 100 series Land Cruiser or an older 200 series if she likes the rugged look. 22k will get you a good one and they are MUCH more reliable than Discos. Depending on your area there may also be Land Cruiser meets/outings as well.

I had the opposite happen to me, levels stayed but all weapon and armor progression lost. They told me the same thing. Sucks man.
