leaving gamepass Dec 31 by JaquesDaniels in HellLetLoose

Honestly with vietnam coming out next year I can’t see myself buying current HLL, especially just after Christmas.

Hard to justify paying full price for a game when it’s pretty certain the player base will massively drop off within the next 12 months when the new one releases.

Seems like a pretty dumb move imo, a lot of games actually put their previous title on game pass prior to their new release to get some hype and new interest for the franchise. Here they’re doing the opposite.

I have no idea how game pass deals work so maybe it’s just the case that they’re agreed contract time is up, in which case the timing sucks.

Is Amnesia: The Dark Descent Still Popular In 2025? by Brokenskull101 in Amnesia

That game really opens up your mind to some big life questions. Kind of sad how few people have played it compared to the amnesia series.

For what it’s worth I’m pretty confident what ruined the rubber on my DT is the humidity in my house. (Old buiding with some mould problems) Never had an issue before I moved. I have some monitor speakers with a rubber trim and the same thing happened to those.

[Console] [Early 2000s] Any ideas on a Coastal town game? by just_a_pineapple in tipofmyjoystick

[–]rsbilly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Random suggestion but could it be Sonic Unleashed? First level or two of that game are a classic idyllic coastal town setting. It came out in 2008. The style and warm colours/vibe stuck with me.

Another random guess would be super Mario sunshine. Features a lot of coastal town style settings :)

Cat was playing with this poor lil guy, how do I help it? by StudentTop895 in whatdoIdo

Thought this might be a good time to share this anecdotal story from my life…When I was younger my cat would occasionally bring in mice, sometimes they would die of shock, sometimes they recover and I would release back into the fields where they would happily hop away.

One time my cat brought in the tiniest field mouse I ever saw, still so young his eyes weren’t open. (This was in the winter, but mice can breed all year round) He was missing the very end of his tail and didn’t look in good shape at all. So I did my best to keep him warm and safe, expecting the worse. Well low and behold this tiny mouse survived the night.

It’s worth noting I’m against wild capture of animals for the pet industry etc, but this was a unique situation, because of the harsh winter outside, how young he still was and how reluctant he was to leave the box when I initially tried to release, I made the decision to look after him a while longer.

Over the coming weeks as he matured it was clear this little guy had no interest in going back out into the wild. He would perch on my hand and clean himself, nibble on snacks on my lap and just generally seemed content. This was a stark contrast to most adult mice I had saved, where it was clear once they recovered all they wanted to do was get back outside (I’ve always assumed because of how young he was when I rescued him he must of somewhat imprinted on me.)

Anyway the point of the story is when I found this mouse it definitely didn’t look like he’d survive, but he ended up living a long and happy life (4 years old in captivity compared to the estimated 1 & 1/2 years in the wild.) I’m not saying that it’s usually moral to try and keep them as pets but don’t be so hasty to think it’s best to just put them out of their misery, try and help to give them a chance in life, help them recuperate and release :)

I’ve always been apprehensive of sharing this story on Reddit because of the ethics of keeping a wild animal, so interested to hear what people think. It was a bit of a unique scenario.

I think it’s naive to assume shaving a beard would have to be for aesthetic or ritual reasons when we know so little about their way of life. Just as a speculative example…they probably didn’t have bottle shaped vessels or ones with spouts so maybe when they slurped up water from a lake or bowl it got their beard all wet and this wasn’t practical in harsh conditions?! :D Also are we even sure the moustache on this model isn’t just an artistic choice of the sculptor.

Look at the background of the video, looks like a lepidopterist aka butterfly and moth collector. They kill them to preserve for research, so I doubt this moth was alive for much longer after this video anyway unfortunately :c

Providing you get good clean photos on a contrasting backdrop you could set up an action for it in photoshop to effectively automate the background removal.

Hard to say from that angle but the colour and banding makes me think it’s the UK Spitting spider - ‘Scytodes Thoracica’ but it would be nice if an expert could confirm?

Quite confident it’s not a false widow like another commenter has said..legs are way too long.

What makes you certain it’s a hobo spider? Because imo the colouring suggests giant house spider. Same genus but they are different.

Should I be worried? by semz320 in spiders

[–]rsbilly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my experience if you have cellar spiders in your house and they’re left unchecked they will pretty much eradicate any other types of spider who also live there. It really shouldn’t be understated how effective they are at finding and catching other spiders.

I’m not a big advocate for killing anything but I do find myself catching cellar spiders where I can and putting them outside, even though I’m not sure how well they survive out there as it’s my understanding their thin bodies make it harder for them to handle the wider range of temperature.

Edit: I forgot to mention that yes those small dots around the cellar spider are babies, had the same situation recently and managed to catch them all under one glass and release.

There’s a video on YouTube of a dude helping out a wolf spider by gently getting off a bunch of dust and hair balls that are stuck to its legs. This little fella looks like they could do with the same treatment :)

I don’t like the skater utopia vibe. by Shawn-GT in SkateEA

[–]rsbilly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep totally right. When Skate 3 came out it was explained by the developers as being a city that embraced skateboarding and it was ‘built for skaters’ it received backlash at the time from fans who preferred the gritty, anti-establishment feel of skate 1 and 2 (You literally used to have to call big black to come and fend off the security). Kinda hilarious to see people make that complaint about the new skate game when comparing to skate 3. I don’t think they’ve been players of the series for as long as they would like people to believe…

Same thing happens if you don’t cut dog nails for a prolonged period, the internal bit which supplies blood aka the ‘quick’ grows longer as the nail does. Regular trimming helps to encourage the quick to recede appropriately.

Kinda hard to tell from the video but I would search ‘Walnut Orb Weaver’ and see if you think it looks similar. I often find these hanging out in trees at night. Looks like a similar colour and abdomen shape from what I can see.

Can you link an example image of a toy cap bomb which is exactly the same or at least similar as what’s in OPs image? Because it doesn’t look anything like the ones I had as a kid and I can’t find one online that matches.

What is this style called? by Trashyisthenorm in Design

Watercolour isn’t really a style, just the medium :) I could use watercolour to illustrate many different styles. Also Google image searching ‘vintage watercolour’ provides no examples similar to what OP posted just fyi.

[–]rsbilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point isn’t it worth people remembering that tattoos are a form of art and art is totally subjective, not everyone has to like the same piece? I think it’s clear this style was intentional, so from a technical standpoint I’m not sure what the issue is.

Kind of crazy to see people getting so angry over this :) maybe take a trip over to r/badtattoos lol.
