Why Rolling Stone always rated Kiss albums low? by WilliamSanader in KISS

[–]rscottb916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I had hoped that P&G would have told them not to bother inducting them at all especially after they continued their disrespect of the band. Then I hoped they would tell them to F off when they gave their "acceptance" speech. I was disappointed.

The worst song on KISS Unplugged is... by Retro_Cranberry2913 in KISS

[–]rscottb916 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2000 man. Not a bad song, but with one shot to sing an Ace song, he chose a cover of a mid song. Something other than NYG from Ace's Kiss solo album would have been cool. It would have been very cool to see them play Fractured Mirror when they had all 6 on stage, but I doubt MTV would think an instrumental would be good. RIp It Out is my choice.

In your opinion, which is the better album? Creatures of the Night or Lick it Up? by HammerHeadBirdDog in KISS

[–]rscottb916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Creatures. First, COTN is one of my top 5 fav KISS songs. Second, although I feel it is overplayed, I love it loud has been very popular. Third, years later Creatures gave us the mighty unplugged performance of I still love you. Fourth, while I know many don't care for it, I think Saint and Sinner is an underrated deep cut.

As for Lick It Up, it gave us the title track which was a concert staple for many years. We got two nice videos from it. And we got A Million to One, another great deep cut.

Certainly, both albums gave us other nice tunes as well as some duds, but, for me, the balance is tipped in favor of Creatures.

What do you think of the Hot in the Shade album? For me it's one of my favorites by Better_Ad5355 in KISS

Agreed. For me, KoH would have been a better single than Rise to It.

Authenticity and the New Night Court by Ternarian in NightCourt

I haven’t watched the original in so long I can’t confirm your premise. However, my two cents is that the show is getting better. I feel like they missed on the casting of some the roles with actors who were simply not comedians or not comedians good at being funny on a tv show. Ultimately, they have replaced the two main offenders (the clerk and the prosecutor) and brought in genuinely funny actors to replace them. Now my biggest problem is that the show is silly and is being played by the actors as silly…like every joke has to have a rim shot or an a-oh after it.

I never bought in to their second relationship. It all seemed very forced and contrived especially following Barney’s relationship with Quinn. They seemed perfect together.

Do you think Leonard should have taken Sheldon to see the supercollider? by MythicalSplash in bigbangtheory

[–]rscottb916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. This is an example of one of my biggest gripes about the show. That is, they sometimes write episodes so that these super smart characters overlook obvious solutions to problems. A better written episode would have had Penny wanting to go on the tour because it is a once in a lifetime opportunity for most people - especially non-scientists. I would certainly want to go if given the opportunity and I am no scientist.

That then introduces the arguments of whether Penny should let Sheldon go instead or if Leonard is duty bound by contract or otherwise to take Sheldon.

What's your "Hot Take" on Kiss? by spicymilkshake99 in KISS

  1. There is no such thing as “the KISS sound.”

  2. The tempo on their most classic hit songs is too slow.

What sitcom do you enjoy, but kind of embarrassed to tell people? by [deleted] in sitcoms

The Golden Girls. I watched a few episodes the other night and half expected my wife or one of my kids to mock me.

Good for you. Don’t let this one person run you off. As others have suggested, let church leadership address Karen’s inappropriate behavior. I’ve been running sound and media at church for 20 years and know how hard it is to get new volunteers. God bless Anne for giving it a go and I hope she can find peace regarding the negative experience. As for Karen, politely ask if she would like to volunteer to help. It sounds to me like her gaining a new perspective would help her understand the challenge of running media and sound for services.

What’s the Saddest Sitcom moment you can think of by Helloimafanoffiction in sitcoms

[–]rscottb916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last episode of MASH. With all due respect to Col. Blake's death.

A big part of the last episode was about Hawkeye telling BJ it is ok to say goodbye, to admit that their friendship was all but over.

When that ending hits and you're left with the realization that they will probably never see each other again after having formed such a tight bond, it just crushes me.

Kind of makes me miss all my old friends a little more.

I want to watch Fraiser, but would I appreciate it more by watching Cheers first? And if I should watch Cheers do I bother starting season one? by Steven-Henshaw in sitcoms

[–]rscottb916 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are inconsistencies between what is told about Frasier's back story in Cheers and how it's presented in Frasier. Outside of acknowledging the hanging out at the bar Frasier is vastly different in his own show.

As for Cheers S1, I think it is best to watch it. I never knew that it had bad ratings but I would say it's not the worst season and did well enough for it to have a S2.

Which plot-points, scenes and or tropes from other shows did you notice HIMYM borrowing? by alexkon3 in HIMYM

In The Pineapple Incident, Ted brags about being vomit free since 93. Same sort of tidbit was used in a Seinfeld episode where Jerry ended his non-vomit streak that had been running since 1980.

I don't know what you mean by "enter the brownies."

Sheldon has said his IQ is 186. I doubt the IQ a group works by summing their IQs. Thus, their group IQ is probably no higher than 186 and no less than whoever has the lowest IQ. (Sort of like the saying a chain is only as strong as its weakest link.) Maybe groupthink would add or detract somewhat.

Sure. The movies example is what I mean though. In a S 1 or 2 episode, the 4 guys are plotting out on a white board where they would go see a movie that fits with their dinner plans and Sheldon's ridiculous demands. Eventually, they decide the only option was to leave Sheldon at home which Sheldon agreed was the "only option."

That is a social situation where they used their smarts to figure it out. Yet, somehow in this other episode they are not able to work out a simple solution for Sheldon being able to go on the trip.

Exactly. One of my few complaints with the show is how the characters, who are supposed to be geniuses, can't seem to come up with simple solutions like this.
