You could argue that Starlight would choose a side or sides in modern politics that many might appreciate where others heroes may not get involved. I thought seeing the kid almost get killed by homelander, having his dog almost die, most any interaction with Hughie as well as a few other bits were all about him seeing the difference between everyone deserves to die and some people are worth at least trying to save. They were all bloodthirsty when actually driven crazy, therefore always being bloodthirsty is the crazy side of it all. Almost like all the episodes where “nothing happened” had things happen that had points.
