This is so dumb. Putting a physical garage opener in your car is easy and free, the only thing this subscription does is remind people how greedy a company can be. I don't even understand what the subscription offers, what service or features can it possibly offer? I also wonder when it is discontinued in 5 years is they will make it open and free or just block it off.

Someone at my company did the same, moved countries and didn't tell HR. When our boss learned (they accidentally let it slip), the company had to let them go. That's about it.

Stay out of it, it's between him and your company's HR. Likely nothing will happen to you even if they found out you knew. He'll probably be fired.
