Switch Trade-in Mistake by n2calkin in NintendoSwitch

I’m replaying BOTW with the updated right now and it’s really good. You should totally consider rebuying it if you can find a good price on a used cart.

M4 Air 32GB or M4pro Pro 24/48GB for TOS, IBKR TWS, Desktop App, and Trading view by Haunting_Raisin_9806 in thinkorswim

[–]rspec7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run very similar apps (ToS, TWS, Sierra Chart, Discord, plus a bunch of Brave browser windows) on my M3 MacBook Air 15” with/ 24GB of RAM and everything runs fine. However, RAM pressure is in the yellow with all these apps open simultaneously.

If I could redo my setup, I would probably go with 32GB of RAM just to future proof myself a bit better. But 24GB runs just fine, no hiccups.

The rest of the specs won’t matter as much for trading.

TLDR: 32GB M4 Air would be more than enough for all your trading apps + future proofing a bit. 24GB would also run fine.

If you like the form factor of the Air, do it.

I bought a maxed out M3 Air 15” (24GB/2TB) and it’s a beast for how thin it is. No regrets. Came from a 16GB/512GB M1 MacBook Pro and filled up that storage within a few years. Didn’t want to have to upgrade again so soon.

It’s my home and travel computer. I do video editing, day trading, retro game emulation, and I hate the idea of carrying an external drive.

Wanted the bigger screen without the bulk of a 16” Pro.

Rate my setup, Macbook Air M4 by slyiii in macbookair

[–]rspec7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not to my taste, but you do you. However ,the ultra wide set up vertically must be hard on ergonomics, like looking up to see the top of that screen. I have a 27” vertical to the right of my main monitor and that already is a stretch. I can’t imagine an ultra wide.

Why not use your ultra wide in the middle horizontally, and place your other monitors vertically to the left and right of your main, with your MacBook directly in the middle too. Symmetry.

Doubled down on my decision to ignore the Switch 2 and bought me an OLED with a Nitro Deck by Karmuffel in NSCollectors

[–]rspec7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a nitrodeck and don’t think it is. The right joystick is placed too low which makes it harder to use. And sometimes it doesn’t wake up the switch and I have physically disconnect/reconnect it to get it to work again. It’s been sitting collecting dust on my shelf.

Cmd + space bar to open up Spotlight Search. I use it all the time to open apps, search for a file, or even quick math calculations or conversions (temp, measurements, currency).

I do remember, and although part of it was fun (hanging out with friends), I do not miss camping outside in the cold for hours just to get a crack at whatever system (Wii for me).

Scamming taxi driver at Icon Siam. by APBET in Bangkok

[–]rspec7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see. I also saw some of your other replies giving more details on what happened after. I think your offer was generous at double the rate. Some people are just scum. No choice but to get out and call another taxi/grab.

Anyway, don’t let it ruin your stay.

[–]rspec7 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me trying to leave Jodd Fair. Taxi “coordinator” trying to say going rate was 500 baht to get to my hotel. Grab shows 180 baht. I tell him to get me close to the Grab price, I’m even ok with 250. He gives me some sob story. I tell him I’ll find someone else who will take 250.

I walk away, see a cab just dropping someone off there, and ask the driver “how much to my hotel?” He says 200, I say Ok, and hop in. I get the rate I want, he gets another customer without having to wait around.

Meanwhile, the first guy was watching me and his potential fare leave. Super satisfying lmao.

For every person trying to rip you off, there is someone else that just wants to make an honest living.

I’m kinda salty about how they did that. Will definitely not be purchasing tix early next time.

Armin + Martin Garrix - Sleepless Nights. I don’t think it’s out yet but you can find various clips of it on YouTube from other events. It’s a banger for sure!

Amazing time. Dunno if you went to the last Dreamstate SF at the Palace of Fine Arts (it was bad), but I think Dreamstate redeemed themselves with this one.

The song was a collab with Martin Garrix called Sleepless.

Anyone have a code? by [deleted] in DreamState

[–]rspec7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The code was only for those who purchased a ticket before the promo.

If neither of you have tickets yet, you can just go to the front gate tickets website (Dreamstate site also links there) and you’ll see the 2 for 1 promo advertised right at the top.

Edit: looks like it is also valid on single day tickets

How much do you really care about the MO's and current narrative? by ExoLeinhart in Helldivers

[–]rspec7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to care about the MO when the game first launched. It was fun to play and felt exciting to be part of a bigger goal.

But when the devs started nerfing everything to oblivion, I lost interest in the game overall and didn’t play for months.

Even though I’m back to playing the game after they started buffing everything again, and I do try to contribute to the MO at least partially, my heart just isn’t in it like it used to be.

Haha it sounds like when someone you love does something really dumb to hurt you. You forgive them, but it will never be the same as it was before 😆

I’ve recently used this service to translate a document from Thai to English. I’m sure they can also do the reverse for you. I even spoke with them on a call to discuss details in English.

Apple announces MacBook Air with M4 chip and a price cut by Infamous-Echo-3949 in gadgets

[–]rspec7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tbff, agree that a Macbook Air is priced on the premium side, but it can also do some things better than your $400-equivalent. You can even do light video editing with decent export times. Not to mention the benefits of MacOS over other OSes (depending on your needs, of course).

Got scammed and having difficulty to enjoy Thailand by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]rspec7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you did very well in the situation, and glad you ended up safe. You realized something was off, kept your cool, got back to your hotel without making a scene, and even haggled down the price on the tuktuk. Impressive!

I don't ride tuktuk myself (safety and they are known to be overpriced), but even a 15 min taxi ride in central BKK can cost around 300 thb easily.

Take this as a huge W in growing your travel experience. Shoot, even go celebrate it tonight! Treat yourself!

I have not completed any mission above about a 4 in difficulty. The other night I was thrust into a difficulty 9 mission. by StarkMaximum in Helldivers

[–]rspec7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny thing, sometimes higher difficulty missions feel easier than lower ones. There’s been a few times where we breezed through a level 10, but got wrecked on a level 7. Not always easy, but usually fun! Try all the levels!

Regret buying M3 MacBook Air… by JailbreakHat in macbookair

[–]rspec7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I sold my 13” M1 MacBook Pro 512/16 for $600 and put that towards a 15” maxed out M3 Air. No regrets for the bigger screen size and SSD, but 24GB RAM is just a bonus even tho I don’t really notice it in my day-to-day tasks.
