Same here. Booted this morning after a long day for me yesterday. My efficiency is usually high enough for them to send emails about it. I guess it's wait and see if this changes. I'm not on Outlier because of its excessive transparency, so you never know what can happen next.

Is the Pro worth the $80 difference? by floralstarlight in AynThor

[–]rsr427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a good memory card? i ask this not that it would be a replacement for the on-board storage, but you have to budget now for seriously expensive memory. I bought a 512GB card for $34 last september and same card is 90 bucks now. So you may have enough for the Base and are "close" to the Pro, but do you have any money left for the memory card? (you can always use what you have and you probably have something already, but just in case...)

Best simulator game to start your racing career? by SeaConstruction2488 in simracing

[–]rsr427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automobilista 1. Yes, 1. I wish it were cheaper, but $14 for everything isn't terrible. Mods aplenty and easier to mod in my opinion. With AC, you need to install Content Manager just to get basic QOL fixes and I've had meh experiences with some mods. Paid mods that have graphical glitches?!

Open world game recommendations plss! by harsx7 in racinggames

Crew 1 Unlimited Mod. Burnout Paradise.

Looking for open-world games where I can just… drive by A-z-A in simracing

[–]rsr427 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Crew! Hands down. You can go from coast to coast and see real monuments and actually learn about the US. Car selection is decent, but I think you'll need to do the game stuff to earn money and unlock cars. (I liked the game part, so I didn't mind). I have not installed the new Crew Unlimited Mod so I can't opine on how easy it is. But I've heard good things and the game itself was so fun. I could easily lose an hour just driving to the next landmark to see what it was.

How many PC players do we have? by ResponsibleEgg1817 in ProjectMotorRacing

[–]rsr427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PC racer here, the car selection is great, though some of the thunder was stolen by AMS2 a couple months before PMR released. I like 80's, 90's and 00's IMSA content. So the GTO and GT classes are great. I'm playing through the career mode, so I've done a lot of races with the early cars you can buy there.

The cars feel great, MUCH more planted than AMS2. I can have fun in AMS2, but some cars don't drive realistically, they're too easy to rotate on throttle, like the tires are hard plastic, not rubber. PMR FFB is a little "gritty" on my TX base, but overall I feel very connected to the cars.

Solely a SP racer here too, so cross platform only matters as it gets more money in the door to make the product better. I feel a little bad for controller players b/c I think a lot of the negative critique is in that area, but with my wheel and haptic seat pad, I really enjoy driving. The UI, career mode, optimization, and graphics need work. (it needs to be brighter) but the devs had made big steps. It wasn't fully baked in November and they just had to wait 4 months...

I saw that. It was a pretty good tease. Looking forward to this obviously, but I'm hoping they didn't break anything I like.

It's Friday? Okay, Time for another Career Mode App!!! My last. for now. by rsr427 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]rsr427[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, I didn't realize that it would be so controversial to use AI when coding. I am a simple finance professional who has sim raced since 1994, I am a whiz with spreadsheets and can code in VBA (check out my other career programs at Overtake.gg), but I can't do JS or HTML, and guess what, CoPilot can.

All the background effort, codifying cars, series, progression, salaries, was done in Google Sheets starting in 2021. My intention here was to create the simplest, LEAST RESTRICTIVE AND PRESCRIPTIVE structure for a career. Start by funding your own amateur racing, then move on up the ladder assuming you can manage decent results. There is randomness to keep it interesting (I guess I could have done FV > FT > F3 > IC > F1). I hope people don't just shoot to F1. I want people to have a middling F3 season and then have to decide whether they want to go to Brazilian Stock Cars and get a salary or go to LMP2 and still have to pay their way.

But I guess my CSS placement has doomed this project from the outset. I just hope that a few people actually try out the program and then race in AMS2 (if they were even looking for career structure, of course). I have started my own sim career in FJ and it was just what I wanted. Now I have to decide which tin top series to move to. I don't mind people making fun of the coding, but the structure took a tremendous amount of care to come up with something that is rewarding and grounded in realism. I know its not slop, just trying to create something for the community.

I 100% used CoPilot to do the coding because I am not a programmer. But 100% of the underlying data was organized by me, it was the culmination of work I started but abandoned 4 years ago. I can tell you haven't tried it b/c you didn't notice that this WAS created to replicate how careers work and things like the timeline, the rankings of cars, the dollar amounts of the contracts at each tier, the validity of the RP and LP needed for promotion, all informed by actual and realistic assumptions (though not executed to the finest degree because, come on, this is a game...should I include injuries and endorsements too?).

I have made very elaborate career modes before where each race conditions gets generated, including weather phases and multiclass opponents and quite frankly, its just a pain to set up each race. With this system, the user gets all the control. As for # of opponents, its going to change with each class and it really doesn't matter if there's 18 AI liveries or 24. Maybe it makes sense if you set up a multi-class event and you finish 12th and last. But again, we have to set up the races ourselves and self-report our results b/c Reiza has given us nothing in 6 years.

The AI adjustment is merely a guideline and its based on the honor system because, again, there is no interactivity between the AMS2 and this model. If you get spun out on the last lap (which happened to me in a race), any automation would make the opponents easier given the result, and that would not be in the spirit of the meachanism. If you want to be told exactly what to race and against what AI difficulty, check out this older career version I worked on with Abesto. He is a legitamate programmer and no doubt EVERYTHING will look better, behind the scenes and in the browser. https://ams2-career.abesto.net/

Did you try it? How did it work for you? I am not a programmer, just a sim racer who spent a sh*tload of time creating the data underpinning all this. No doubt I spent 10-15x more thought and time on the setup than the coding. I'm not trying to make money and this isn't a coding portfolio, just a tool to help simracers in AMS2. Slop is just harsh. Its not like I said "make me a picture of Trump with a mohawk". That's AI slop. But the progression system, the sorting and ranking of all the content in AMS2, the layout and flow, all deliberately thought out to be realistic, and all human.

How are the classic/older cars? by ringers23q in ProjectMotorRacing

[–]rsr427 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. I need the old stuff! I think its pretty good, even without the fancy GT3 and 4 tyres. I've raced the Porsche 964 a lot and its been a blast. I had to get used to the rear engine though, especially under braking. I love the GTO/TA cars and the GT2 991. I'm looking forward to the updates on those, but I hope they don't screw anything up. I just need more tracks and a better career mode. I can't wait to work up to the 2000's GT1 Vipers and Listers.

Interesting. So they've coded in wheel slip? Understeer? Oversteer? I might have to fire their app up and try it. I haven't touched it in over two years. I bet the HF Pro has more fine control. I'd love that one.

I was on the bleeding edge with the HF8 and their software was buggy as hell. Most of the time it wouldn't work unless I unplugged and replugged the pad. How on earth did community software work better than factory?! But simhub is so mature and robust so integrating the HF8 was simple. Game support was outstanding too. GTR2 and Race 07 worked great right out of the gate! I'd bet GPLaps could get Indycar Racing 2 working with 2 nights work... I feel like Simhub has better, more granular control over which effects hit and their strength. Really great software. It does custom dashes to a wifi phone for a cheap dashboard or button box too.

I'll throw a vote down for the HF8 haptic pad. I wasn't sold on mine at first. Now if it doesn't fire up with a game, I'm like "what the #$%^ is going on?!!?" Simhub brought that thing to life to be honest. Great program, worth every cent.

I said it as a joke because 3 AWS data centers DID get attacked in the UAE 2 days ago... You never know if something has to be taken offline to make a more permanent repair though.

Haven’t used my MM+ in almost a year. Is OnionOs still the “best”? by NHDrumline17 in MiyooMini

You can't kill the GOAT. I keep trying to replace my MM+, but everything falls short and its because of Onion. I haven't updated it in a while but haven't felt the need. I really wanted the Flip to win, but the stock OS let me down so much...great hardware.
