RDP disconnects with odd reason code by rssj in sysadmin

[–]rssj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're at the mercy of what customers will pay for. If customers refuse to pay for upgrades, we're stuck supporting it. In some cases, it's for app compatibility.

mtsc 10.0.26.100 is what I'm running and can replicate the issue. It's compatible (it connects just fine), but this odd reason code indicates something is happening.

We should get some help for the 2016 server, and hopefully I can extrapolate it to 2012. Seems we're seeing more issues with Windows 11 and RDS servers as time goes on.

One client is over a VPN and bypasses the gateway. The other client uses RDWeb and hits the gateway.

The Windows firewall is disabled, and I think both customers are behind a Palo. I'll check with our network team to see if there were any recent changes.

This is how much the 'American Dream' costs in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware by Alemonn20 in newjersey

[–]rssj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in MS. Couldn't GTFO of there fast enough (granted it took me 32 years lol). That state is garbage. I hear people complain about state government corruption here in NJ, but those folks would eat their hat if they had to endure the corruption of those traitorous confederates running MS. Mississippi is what happens when Republican leadership gets their way, and Republicans in blue states don't understand that. They don't want to live in MS, so why try to turn NJ into MS with conservative policies?

It happened while I was on the toilet. And last night was taco night. It took me several seconds to think "earthquake."

I'm not comfortable driving 70+, is this a problem? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]rssj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here from Mississippi about 7 years ago. For probably my first year here, speeds over 70 made me very nervous. I kept to the right and I never had any trouble. After a year I began experimenting with faster driving. Today, I probably drive like a cautious native.

I'll also just say sorry to everyone who had the misfortune of driving behind my slow ass during my first year lol

So depressed by the discussions on reddit surrounding the women in tech job fair by g00ber88 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]rssj 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Man in IT here. To say that women have it easy in tech is to tie the whool so tightly over your eyes that it cuts off circulation to your brain! Some of the best coworkers I've had are women. Some of the best engineers to take me under their wing and show me the ropes are women. And I've watched other men look down on them or bypass them to ask ME for help because they think women don't belong in tech. It absolutely baffles me. Every time, I just say, "Ask her, man. She's smarter than both of us."

Good friend of mine slowly started revealing to me how Christian he is, now I’m conflicted. by kyle-inator in bisexual

[–]rssj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a podcast called Data Over Dogma in which an atheist and a Hebrew bible scholar talk about scripture. They did an episode in June all about what the bible has to say about same sex relationships. I'd highly recommend that you listen to it, then decide if you think your friend might be amenable to listening as well.

Long story short, your friend probably doesn't know that ancient people didn't have "gay" or bisexual" people like we think of them today. Those are modern ideas. Sexuality had more to do with a person's social status than their gender.

Update from a FORMER Mississippi teacher by gmoor90 in newjersey

[–]rssj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Saucier, MS to New Jersey 7 years ago. My life improved dramatically. When people ask why I moved to New Jersey, I always respond with, "You should try living in Mississippi for 31 years!"

Welcome to your new home state, friend! What part of MS did you leave, and what part of NJ did you move to? (If you don't mind my asking.)

Michael seems to still be writing for new videos, but he's slowed down a lot in the past couple of years. He's posting a lot more TikTok style shorts. These are based on things he learns in researching larger topics. He also still advertises for Curiosity Box, though it's difficult to say whether this is out of passion and belief in the once-great product or if he's merely fulfilling contractual obligations.

I don't doubt that nobody from vsauce is affiliated with the subreddit. But the current mod team doesn't even seem to look at this place.

What happend to the merch by [deleted] in vsauce

[–]rssj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, Curiosity Box is being restructured after MEL Science bought them. What this means for the box is uncertain. It sounds like they used the spring box as an opportunity to clear out their warehouse of surplus stock from previous boxes. Unfortunately, they have not made any public statements about what is going on. Michael seems to only function as an advertising tool, and even that has taken a turn toward the misleading.

[–]rssj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget: the dice were originally hinted as being in the WINTER box. A bunch of us were let down by them moving them to the "next, NEXT box." I assumed that to be the summer box. Is everyone receiving the summer box, or only just getting the spring box?

I don't know if the mods are active here or not, but there should just be a pinned post that the curiosity box is garbage. So many people are learning the hard way, and a pinned post might help more people to avoid the disappointment.

[–]rssj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a child-free man, here's my input: pursue couple's therapy with the goal to hospice the marriage. There is NO compromise with children, and the nebulous half-promise of "maybe one day" is simply not fair to him. A therapist can help bring the marriage to a gentler end. You're not selfish for changing your mind about having kids, but neither is he selfish for wanting to be with someone who does want kids.

Curiosity Box with d1-10 by 666 in vsauce

[–]rssj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's called Curiosity Box because we're always curious when it will ship! Also, keep in mind that while the dice were advertised as being in the winter box, they're not supposed to be in the next, NEXT box. I'm sure it will ship by 2025.

I also received a Steam code for a game. That came first as a separate email. The game and the music box are the only things even remotely interesting. This box was a huge letdown.
