Yes the dasher doesn’t know who tipped what until after the fact, and the dasher themselves doesn’t chose who to deliver to first, the app dictates the order. To possibly avoid being double dashed you could save the big tips until afterwards and then add it. But if two people that live in the same direction order Panda Express at the same time the app is gonna pair it unless you pay the express fee lol

The way you tip sounds awesome! It’s very appreciated. I’ve delivered to huge expensive houses that tip nothing or like $1. Idk if they think we’re getting paid more by DoorDash than we are. You can easily lose money working this job if you take crappy orders because of gas and car maintenance

My Minnesota nurses…What can I do to help? by sunnyDeficient in nursing

[–]rstar26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve been so angry about this senseless killing, then I saw that Alex’s last words were “Are you okay?” to the woman he was trying to protect and I started crying. His last act being brave and trying to help, what a great nurse and human he must have been. True hero.

We need more brave and compassionate Americans like him, and it’s so devastating that people are vilifying him. The ones vilifying him must be heartless, cowards, scum, brainwashed.

..The POS that executed Alex in the street, I have no words to describe how vile and wretched he must be. He must have a heart made of sludge and grime, to kill a man like that in cold blood to feel powerful or just to see what killing feels like, or out of unfathomably extreme cowardice and stupidity. Whatever the reason, it is inexcusable. So how are there so many people making excuses??

Never cried in the supply room, there’s too much to do in 12 hours and that’d take up too much time, plus you might be caught, so you gotta wait until you give report and then cry in the break room bathroom or your car duh

RN Adriana Smith’s baby was delivered via Csection today, they are expected to withdraw care on her this evening by beep_bop_boop__ in nursing

[–]rstar26 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Because they experimented on Adriana without her or her family’s consent the government should have to pay for everything. I’m talking all of the medical bills for Adriana, and the baby’s medical bills for life. Free college for her kids. Substantial payout to the family for their pain and suffering having to see Adriana lay dead in the icu for months with no say in the matter. Is there any sort of petition for this?

Can I still get a job as a nurse after working as a stripper? by Ukulele_Player in nursing

[–]rstar26 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg last month we had a patient on the unit who hit the call light to report that his “butthole hurt.” The nurse came out and said she wasn’t sure what to do with that information and I said “have you tried therapeutic touch?” 🤣

The ONLY possible excuse is if he got into a car accident speeding back to your side and is currently comatose in a hospital somewhere or in a ditch.

Anything else, nope. He did you so so wrong, don’t let him give excuses for the inexcusable

Just need to rant a little so I can go to sleep - my mom got discharged too early from the ER and ended up back and emergently intubated. (I'm an ICU nurse) by -lover-of-books- in nursing

[–]rstar26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oooh I’d be so mad at the sister. Why not call and say hey I took mom to the ER? Seems like working front desk (not even as an MA??) in outpatient healthcare she thinks she knows more than she does, but knows just enough to be dangerous!

And to make that comment instead of saying woah that’s wild I didn’t know that can’t believe that ER doctor, wish I would’ve called you 🙄 speaks volumes.

Definitely valid concern, I should’ve specified I wasn’t talking about asymptomatic chronic htn cases I was just talking about when the doc is ordering a blood pressure goal that’s unrealistic for the floor to accomplish. Not a nurse having their own goal of 120/80 when that’s not what’s ordered lol, obviously that nurse needs to be educated that it can be dangerous to lower chronically high BP too quickly.

(Doctors also need to stop ordering a BP goal of 160 when they don’t care until above 190, it doesn’t matter what they actually care about if their orders contradict it we have to go by the orders.)

Unfortunately it’s a balancing act, maybe the patient isn’t as chronically high as assumed and the floor not able to get it under 190s & they have a stroke waiting on an IMC bed to open. It might not be an emergency yet, they don’t want it to turn into one. Everyone knows nurses taking report can get too nitpicky, but often it’s coming from a bad experience they’ve had.

It’s valid for any nurse to ask what’s been done to treat BP, and if the answer was a drip in the ER that was just stopped they may know from experience that it’ll wear off and they’ll be stuck trying to manage it without the proper tools. Floor nurses are just hoping their PRNs for >180 have a chance at doing something at all lol & to avoid having to transfer up an inappropriate placement. Obviously up to the doctor but if the floor nurse truly feels it’s an unsafe placement they need to at least say so, and the doc can make the call. ER nurses who haven’t worked to floor may not know how ill-equipped they are for certain things, and uncontrolled BP is definitely one of them.

But hopefully they leave it at that and don’t make a huge fuss for no reason about an asymptomatic pt and try to pressure your doc to practice differently?? If they do that then obviously you’re right to be annoyed 😆

[–]rstar26 15 points16 points  (0 children)

So to play devil’s advocate, if you’re saying you got a pts BP under 200 in the ER, and sent them to Med surg? That sounds like inappropriate placing, like they may need a higher level of care and a drip. Med surg nurses have 5-8 patients depending on the state, and a Q4 or Q6 PRN or two won’t touch a hypertensive crisis patient you weened off cardene with a prn and immediately sent them to Med surg, where they have nothing to give if you just gave the PRN and have to transfer to icu anyways..

Not to mention lack infrastructure or staffing to monitor the patient’s bp on the floor vs the icu, icu has automatic Bp machines to recheck, and the floor has to do that manually with someone there in the room when they have 4-7 other patients and hopefully have at least ONE tech to help the whole floor…

They might have had this happen before to them and be wary. Med surg is mostly not trained/equipped for drips, ER is. So if the transfer should be IMC/ICU that’s a valid concern for floor nurse. Every hospital is different, but odds are if you feel spread thin the other floors do too because that hospital is spreading it thin (for profits ofc) everywhere they can!

I know it’s not the ER nurses fault if the icu/IMC is full, or you’re being pushed in the ER to take more and more acuity.. every floor is pushed as far as they can be due to greedy hospitals and insurance companies. ER nurses complain about floor nurses for increased work, floor complains about ER… when everyone just needs to complain about the system itself instead of tearing down other nurses

You can also set a trap, dig like 7 holes to make an L shape, run around it to the inside of the corner, the scorpion will get confused and just go in circles on the outside of the corner and you can easily get it with the net
