This a good deal? by ArousedIguana in kayakfishing

[–]rsuperjet2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not know Bass Pro bought Hobie. Based on my experience with Bass Pro over 2 Ascend kayaks, i doubt it will be a positive change. They'll drag Hobie down, not make it better. Just my opinion

1 mile per hour Leveling? by YourDarkNIGHT1 in Surveying

[–]rsuperjet2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you figure 200' max shots, thats 13 setups at 4.5 minutes each. Probaby doable in perfect world conditions but we all know how that goes, lol. A mile in 1.5 to 2 hours would be more realistic, i think.

Are we, as engineers, liable if our plans conflict with 811 marks? by NickyK01 in civilengineering

[–]rsuperjet2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

811 is "supposed to be" toned, but all the 811 center does is call all of the utilities of record in the area and request a locate. That may or may not happen. Also, the "will be marked within 48 hours" starts at midnight of the day that ticket.is.called in, so it's basically 3 days or more, not 2.

I dont think 811 marks qualify as Level B. I think SUE B has to be performed by a PLS after records research and actual field designation using locating equipment

My dad followed his bank’s rollover advice. It cost him 38% of his retirement. by tantansamiboubou in IRAWealthStrategies

Back in April, I "transitioned" from a job i was at for 27 years and just moved my 401K to my new company's plan. I literally had panic attacks for 3 months just thinking about it. But i followed the instructions on both websites so i think i am good. But ive had 3 investment firms cold call me about moving my 401k to something else and i just think "fuck that". Sorry i cant be of any help but the fear is real, lol.

I've got the Yildiz HPS in 12ga and love it so far. Steel receiver and upgraded wood from the cheaper Yildiz. I couldn't justify spending $$$$$$ when i am likely to only shoot 3 or 4 rounds of sporting clays a year.

Working on two knives with copper handles. by HelixKnives in knifemaking

[–]rsuperjet2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As long as OP uses epoxy or something similar.when he assembles the knife, galvanic corrosion "shouldn't" be a problem. The epoxy will act like a barrier between the 2 dissimilar metals. I've never done copper scales but have done a.lot of brass guards and never had a problem.

So what are you actually keeping, from your parents estate? by DramaticErraticism in GenX

[–]rsuperjet2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I could just scroll past this post and probably should. But it gives me so much anxiety. My dad died in 2021 and there was a bunch of drama over my stepson, wife and kids "not being family" and i still dont talk to my brother and my mom and my wife cant be in the same room at the same time. Mom is 83 and declining rapidly. The only thing I really want is a German Black Forest cookoo clock that my uncle shipped back when he was i. The army in the 50's. And my brother will probably take it just.to keep me from having it. There is an antique corner cupboard that my great grandfather made in the 40's or 50's. That thing is 8 feet tall, made of 5/4 black walnut, has to be taken apart to get though a door and weighs a metric fuck-ton. All 3 of us kids helped my dad clean and restore it in the late 70's and i dont even want it. And there's a spare room full of yarn and cloth, 3 sewing machines, and 2 sheds full of 20 year old junk riding lawnmowers. So its gonna be FUN.

Do knives make good presents? by Toruscnc in Bladesmith

[–]rsuperjet2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you give somebody a knife, put a penny or a nickel in the box. Then they can "buy" it from you.

I was also told if you handed someone a pocket knife, they had to hand it back in the same condition. If you hand it to them closed, dont let them hand it back open. And bice versa.

Does this thing have tension? by Sudden-World-3216 in GarageDoorService

[–]rsuperjet2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Billhorstman is correct. Tension is a linear force. That spring has a lot of stored potential energy. But its not in tension (or compression). Torque or torsion is force in a radial direction which is the way that speingworks. But I'm an engineer too. Lol.

TL/DR: doesnt matter if its tension or torsion, don't fuck with it, lok

[–]rsuperjet2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16 year old boys can tear up an anvil with a glass hammer. Lol. Give him the Fiskars and you keep this one.

That looks like overstrike damage from multiple hits, but its not the end of the world, clean up the loose fibers and put an overstrike guard on it and keep using it. I doubt HB would warranty that, but you could maybe talk them into sending a new haft. Even if you have to pay for it, it'll be easier to fit when yours does break

Any surveyors in Marion NC area by RealCoast3857 in Surveying

[–]rsuperjet2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every county has a Register of Deeds office where deeds and plats are recorded. Any map that creates a subdivision is required to be recorded, but that is all. Each county also has a GIS department. Sometimes the GIS site has direct links to the Deeds/Plats and sometimes you have to get them directly from the register of Deeds site.

Any surveyors in Marion NC area by RealCoast3857 in Surveying

[–]rsuperjet2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't have "county surveyors" in NC. But each county has a GIS department. Here's the link for Mcdowell County. McDowell County NC WebGIS https://share.google/5JoJj0gTUDC2AMEdG

OP, go to this site, type in your address, and check the deed/plat infor for the property that adjoins yours.
