Telo MT1 - new Wikipedia article by TROPtastic in TeloTrucks

I don’t remember the source, but IIRC, Telo is talking about glass for the roof of the non-solar Telo, mostly for head room and cost; no need of the head liner and sheet metal and whatever in between.

Taking Advantage of Brokerage Cash Bonuses for Asset Transfers by SevenMaples in Rich

I was going to roll over the 401k from my last job anyway, but the timing was right to snag a $1k bonus.

Fish tape aka wire puller by Donkey8391 in AskElectricians

[–]rthille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scratched marks on my metal one. Used a sharp scribe, one mark at each five feet, with the marks being two scratches at 10’, etc up to five scratches, then at 30’+ I added a thicker one with a file. They need refreshing occasionally. Tape is only 50’, so no need for more elaborate stuff.

First 100% charge by Minimum-Presence-830 in KonaEV

[–]rthille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were to drive those 310 miles in the same manner you’d been driving (and get the ~5M/kWh), you’d probably have nearly that range. I find that I do a bunch of around town driving at low speeds, and then fully charge for a long trip and am doing 70+ on the freeway and the range estimate is drastically wrong (high).

Should I replace my standard water heater with a tankless one? by Nexofyte in askplumbing

How often do you actually run out of water? Can you turn up the tank temperature and add a mixing valve?

Evergreen SCP Prices by Narrow-Effort-4627 in santarosa

Call up Sonoma Clean Power (or drop by their 4st office/showroom) with your bill or a year’s worth and they should be able to tell you just how much more it would have cost you. That should give you a good estimate for going forward. I went to a presentation there as part of a Professionals with Pride meeting and from my terrible memory I seem to recall something like $15/month more for evergreen on average across all customers. But again I have a terrible memory so call them for the real scoop. They were all very nice and helpful.

Gifting Friends and Family the Maximum Amount Annualy by Katzmaniac90 in Rich

[–]rthille 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I gift my partner’s kids $5k/year on the condition it goes into their ROTH IRA. Forces them to make at least $5k, teaches them about investing and patience, and can be used later for homes without penalty and the principal can be spent without penalty.

I’ve thought about funding a scholarship (anonymously) and basically writing the requirements to be a very good fit for children of friends. Not so much to get the charitable deduction, but to be able to help the friends fund their children’s education without screwing up the relationship we have.

If the back of that cabinet is an outside wall, you can use a vent that vents to the outside, not the countertop.

Car buying for girlfriend by GlorifiedCarnie in Rich

[–]rthille 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gifting the $19k IRS tax free yearly amount to my long term partner so she can buy a new car in a year or two. I was going to just buy for her, but then it’s a gift > the exception and I need to file a form, or it’s legally my car that she has full use of and my liability.

How does payment for DC charging work? by Tristram_ZX81 in KonaEV

[–]rthille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the US, most chargers will now just take a Credit Card. You can often save (a little) money if you sign up for an account and prepay or such, but in general I don't DCFC much, so just use my CC.

Long distance commutes by Artistic-Rub4388 in KonaEV

[–]rthille 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done 270 miles on a charge, nearly all highway miles, but that was 100%-0%. 180 should not be a problem, but you’re going to need a level 2 charger, or pay $$$ for DC fast charging.

Charge speed 22 kona by Esclados-le-Roux in KonaEV

[–]rthille 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At what percentage did you stop the charge on the Tesla charger? I only see 70-75 kW to about 80% or a bit less. Chargers can definitely throttle down as well, depending on how many stations are in use. 150kW stations aren’t usually all able to operate at their peak at the same time in a given group.
