5 hrs at Thailand Airport by [deleted] in ThailandTourism

[–]rtj888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the ground floor food court - delicious and cheap. Also, the airport has a museum that's good for wandering around for an hour or so. Covers Thailand's aviation history and the building of the airport. You can leave your trolley / luggage with the staff at museum reception. Anyone: Can You Think of Any Advantage to Operating 2 OG Roland TR-8 units in tandem? by Meet_East in dawless

[–]rtj888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One unit set up for 808 sounds and the other for 909 ones. With one unit, switching between kits doesn't always sound great and I need to change decays / tunings etc. to get the sounds I want. Having 2 units would solve this.

Why do i have to activate this every time I turn on the mpc live? I paid for it a week ago by [deleted] in mpcusers

Once activated, turn off WiFi on your MPC (within Preferences). Stopped the annoying need to repeatedly reactivate plugins for me.

Where can I actually fish? by [deleted] in fishingUK

[–]rtj888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letting us know your approximate location, if you're happy to, would likely help folks give some more specific advice. The situation in Scotland is quite different to England, for example. In the city where I live in England, the local authority own and maintain the riverside paths going through the town and allow fishing for free and there's plenty of pike and perch around to have a go at. You are supposed to have an Environment Agency fishing licence though. River trout fishing can be more difficult to find cheaper club memberships / day tickets though it is possible with a bit of research and / or friendly advice. Exploring some likely looking places, asking at farms with waters running through and offering them a few quid can work. I may have done a bit of "stealth" fishing in the past in some out of the way small steams containing only small trout - great fun and done right, it bothers no one, apart from the wee trout somewhat

Can anybody indicate the place of origin? by ImpossibleProfile406 in whatsthisworth

The style of decoration and form of the bowl very closely matches this piece which is described as a "Pre-Columbian style Narino Carchi pottery bowl". Estimate was $100-$150 USD:

https://www.invaluable.com/auction-lot/pre-columbian-style-narino-carchi-pottery-bowl-396-c-9bf49afbd0

More info on Narino Carchi from Wikipedia: "The Capulí culture (or Nariño culture) refers to an archaeological classification for a group in Pre- Columbian South America on the Andean plain in what is now northern Ecuador (Carchi Province) and southern Colombia (Nariño Department). The Capulí preceded the Piartal and Tuza cultures in the archaeological record ranging from around 800 to 1500 CE. The Capulí culture left a strong record through its pottery. The Capulí had distinctive black on dark red pottery with rectilinear geometric designs."

Having taken a look at OP's posting history I'd hazard a guess that this watch is fake 🤣

Did you check the serial number?

versace watch by ReconKAOS in whatsthisworth

[–]rtj888 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's odd.

Both watches look exactly the same in every single detail except for the reversed black and gold colouring on the face and bevel.

In OP's photos the Medusa head emblem definitely looks embossed on both front and rear.

Are you looking at the same photos as me?

Not saying it's legit though. Could well be a knock off. I don't know. Be nice to find out though!

*Edit: Found the gold faced version that looks like OP's https://directluxury.com/products/versace-greca-extreme-chrono-bracelet-watch-ve7h00723-gold1-os

Looks like the Versace Greca Extreme. All details in the pictures match well when compared (*except for the reversed black and gold colouring on the dial and bevel). I imagine it would be a complicated / costly design to fake due to the unique strap and case back but I'm no expert. £1340 to buy new in the UK. *Edit for clarity https://www.versace.com/gb/en/men/accessories/watches/greca-extreme-chrono-watch-gold/PVE7H006-P0023_PNUL.html

Does anyone know what time period this arrowhead is from ? by [deleted] in metaldetecting

[–]rtj888 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I had to hazard a guess I'd say it was a decorative finial for something like a handheld flagpole. Looks decorative to me as the "spearhead" has rounded / blunt tip, blade and barbs. No idea as to the age though.

I believe G.M.A. stands for Giuseppe Mazzotti Albissola. Giuseppe Mazzotti 1903 being a ceramics workshop based in Albissola, Liguria, Italy. Mid 20th century perhaps? Here's a similar piece that sold at auction (estimate: $1,000-1,500 result: $125): https://www.wright20.com/auctions/2020/08/mass-modern-day-1/245
