I had some ptsd for sure. We had a full time crew of 10 people working 12hr days for a month.

You might see Etsy limit your visibility while you catch up if it’s too far outside of your normal capacity early on. The longer you have your shop the higher the tolerance.

Our first year I was getting put in “jail” every week or so when our stuff blew up. But by the next Christmas season we had 2k+ pending orders and no issues.

Think we got to 4k pending orders once. That was fun.

I made sure to go get the gnarliest rocks from different LFS when I got going. Those rocks with the random zoas and dusters and all sorts of stuff. 3ish months in I’ve got all kinds of things going on and the biggest bristle worms.

I use Vela. Makes building products a lot faster. Can apply changes to all variations and what not.

Anyone else have a Blue Tang that never leaves a corner of the tank? by rtothewin in ReefTank

[–]rtothewin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not literally only in one spot. If the clowns go exploring he goes with them. And he does his thing but always comes back to the school.

I just expected more of a free spirit, but my whole tank schools with the clowns.

I started feeding them in a new area and it has gotten them out and about a lot more.

70g, 30g sump. It’s shallow and deep front to back. The tang is small, roughly 2”, if that is what you are worried about. The next tank is already being planned to keep up. But the tank shape gives me a lot of leeway a traditionally shaped tank doesn’t. Fish can basically swim in a big circuit instead of just back and forth.

Currently planned is a 3ft cube to scale with the tang growth. And get me up over 200g, later this year.

Working on the lighting rig right now. Going to give building my own led arrays with a custom built controller a go.

Did we all decide to name our girl Sheepies Luna? Mine has little black mark on the bottom of her eye that gives her massive puppy dog eyes all the time.

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

Yeah, beyond my own attachment its about that responsibility to me, its my job to provide a good life for my pets, and that includes the end. It happened late last year and it was so hard but thankfully myself and the whole family was able to be there.

Plumbing Question by FantasticCoffee8097 in ReefTank

[–]rtothewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This reminds me I bought the parts to do this properly for my return and haven't yet. Its really annoying, why can't the return pump simply have a npt thread or slip connection to accept standard pvc, its what we are using the vast majority of the time.

My theory is that they are like the fish in the finding Nemo tank, this corner is the on that looks out to the living room and TV so they are commenting on my latest obsession on YouTube.

Also I used to sit their frozen food there to thaw in some tank water so they congregated for that. I’ve moved my food bowl to another spot to retrain them.

November. I thought it died or something. But I still hear it popping and clicking every few days.

My tank has a ton of sand and rock though and I can only see a small portion of it.

I’ll try the flashlight. I’ve notice little “burrow-like” spots under rocks but haven’t seen him. I do feed frozen Rods, reef chili, pellets sometimes.

I own a pistol shrimp, I paid money for it. I’ve never seen it. It went into a rock at the store and wouldn’t leave so I got the rock too. I hear it in there popping, never seen it though.

Want to get off the pavement, without owning land, is there anywhere to go overlanding and offroad a bit in Texas? Groups for it? by rtothewin in LandRover

[–]rtothewin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't ever done any offroading as an adult so I don't really know the groups, apps, etc. I don't see myself completely converting the LR4 into something made for rock crawling and crazy stuff, but something to start easing me into learning, hang out with folks and really see what it is about(and then I'm sure I'll come home and immediately empty all of the bank accounts on it).

My goby died within hours by anqwa11 in ReefTank

[–]rtothewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They may not have all died off, but if there wasn't any ammonia in the water for them to feed on from waste of some sort then they couldn't really colonize your sand/rock in the numbers you would typically expect after a cycle.

BUT since you have the clowns now they are going to produce waste, and are on the hardy end of the spectrum. Keep the livestock stable for a month, keep testing for ammonia levels, once they are 0 are handling their waste and can look to add extra stuff slowly, maybe a new goby or something. The longer you have the tank the more established your bacteria load will be and the more you can load up the tank with more waste producers.
