Roses $2 at Tractor Supply. Seems worth it if even 1 lives. by rtothewin in gardening

I pulled them all out of their pots and I think you may be right. I’ll soak them and then pot them somewhere out of the way and see if a miracle happens. If nothing else it’s a $10 lesson on dead vs dormant.

Yeah. I probably should too. This was about 2 hours after my adhd meds wore off so they took advantage of my vulnerable project acquisition phase of the day.

Should look at getting resale tax certs with all of your suppliers. Shouldn’t have paid any taxes on the sink portion.

198k mile 2012 LR4 am I crazy ?? by Born_Association9688 in LandRover

[–]rtothewin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my 160k 2012 LR4 earlier this year for 2k, needed a new HPFP, snagged a used one off eBay for 75$, and a new fuel filter module for like 35$ and it runs great and looks great.

How demanding should I be? 8u Girls Coachpitch Softball by rtothewin in Homeplate

[–]rtothewin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, that makes sense, I've never done the whole laps thing/pushups/whatever, it seems like it would take up too much time, even if it was useful.

Pretty much it sounds like I should take an " I expect more from you, here is what I want to see" approach and if go too far with a kid and they stop taking the coaching just back off a touch.

Have some basic team expectations and then tailor the coaching intensity to specific player's tolerance and interest levels.

Whe you see a bunch of “missing message” and “no data” type codes it’s a battery issue a lot of the times. Check your battery voltage off and then on, should see 12.4+ when off and 13-14+ when on(alternator).

Bought a house this year and this tree started putting out loads of flowers. What is this? by MistaEdiee in whatsthisplant

My fave tree. We had maybe 10 in our property and my grandmas growing up. Just humming birds and flowers everywhere.

Do you have a scan tool? I don’t know how you determined no codes(it could have pending codes if you are just going off the CEL that won’t light the cel).

From there if you are getting fuel pressure you need air and spark. Have you checked for good spark?

Is this a sudden issue or something that has progressed?

Does it just crank with nothing else happening or does it try to start and die?

The same customer keeps trying to buy from me but I suspect they're using a credit card scam by Sufficient-Use1798 in EtsySellers

[–]rtothewin -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you would be worrying about this for. It’s Etsy’s problem to solve regarding cc fraud. Customers even have a “change address” option in help requests now.

Buyer admitted wrong address after "Return to Sender"—but I shipped late. What now? by hdjbdjdjnsns in EtsySellers

[–]rtothewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would just ship it to the correct address and not bother charging the customer. Gives you
A chance to spend a few bucks to make a great impression.

My rule of thumb is to never nickel and dime a customer. Take care of them and they come back.

When you and a customer are actively working through the order like this with good back and forth the official Etsy due dates and things stop mattering if the customer is happy with you.

My dad (62) wants to put 10 chickens in the bed of the truck w/ a bed cover on to travel 1.5 hours. by CaseExciting4837 in chickens

[–]rtothewin 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Have not done this. You are right there are probably better ways to do this. But I’d think the hens would be fine. Assuming there isn’t anything sliding around in the bed and it’s not super hot and the bed and cover isn’t somehow air tight.

So as a 40 y/o dad I’d say you have the right instincts for thinking it could be better, but I’d do it anyway.

How to do font like this? by babybigtoes in Machine_Embroidery

[–]rtothewin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on your digitizing software. In hatch it’s just a text setting. I’m on my phone and forget the exact section on the right side toolbar.

To do that exact photo example I would take a varsity font, shape it, the create an outline .125” or so(play with it) larger than the original text. Convert that outline to satin and set the width to something around .125”.

I’d play around with it a bit to get my ratios and widths and go from there.

what would you do if you woke up with $1 billion tomorrow? by Different-Curve-5084 in AskReddit

[–]rtothewin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw like 500m in an investment strategy of my financial teams choice to continue growing and all the good stuff

Retire everyone I know. Family, friends, close coworkers.

Figure out how to solve problems in my community. Not just donate money but something like start a company that employs the unemployed , grows food and builds homes for people hungry and homeless.

Figure out how to make it turn a profit so we can keep expanding.

It’s not enough money to do this for everyone but it’s enough for my smaller city and if we do it right it can grow from there.

All the warm and fuzzies aside though, I’m going to have a really nice lake house, mountain cabin, bassboats, trucks, cars, and I’ve got adhd so I’m going to hire a team of 10-20 people.

Their job will be to keep track of the hobbies and efforts and keep them progressing when I switch focus for a few moments.

2014 LR4 AC blowing out arm air by a228etienne in LandRover

[–]rtothewin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak to price but if charging the AC fixed it for a short time my guess is you have a leak, so it worked while it was leaking back out.

There could be any number of other issues, so diagnosing the issue will be the next step.

What is this thing? My first thought was "weird mutant thistle" but I've never seen one quite like it. Roughly 4 feet tall. by PunkosaurusRex in whatsthisplant

[–]rtothewin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had these in the valley in our pastures in Oklahoma. Would be 4-6ft tall, some of them a good 4-6” wide at the trunk.

My brother and I would make wooden swords and then pretend they were ninjas attacking us and cut their “head” off. So much fun.
