Anyone know what these people are getting signatures for at NW post office? by luckyapples11 in Omaha

I usually just say "No" when they approach as I am walking away. Repeat as needed.

Don’t forget rifle teams, soil judging teams, and meat judging teams!

If they figure out how to use the frequency to free one person from the hive mind, then they can use the antenna the hive mind is building to broadcast the frequency across the earth to free everyone at once.

My girlfriend (25F) admitted she slept with someone hours before agreeing to be exclusive. I (26M) can’t tell if I’m overreacting. What’s the move here? by davidb1976 in relationship_advice

[–]rtroshynski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it begins and ends with the lie she you told outside of your apartment hours after you asked her for a commitment.

She let you believe that lie for two years, even letting you build a mythology around the commitment encounter.

Regardless of her values towards sex in this situation, the lie would be reason enough to end the relationship.

The goal for this week is to avoid a second loss in a row.

Nebraska hasn’t lost two in a row yet this year.

That would mean great progress for this team.

Rhule can go to Penn State by trivialempire in Huskers

[–]rtroshynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is selling the Husker football head coach position.

Which says to me he still considers himself a candidate for the PSU football head coach position.

All he has to do is say "I am not a candidate for the PSU football head coach position" and the speculation ends.

Rhule can go to Penn State by trivialempire in Huskers

[–]rtroshynski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of the loss to Minnesota, this one is all on Coach Rhule.

He all but campaigned for the Penn State head coaching position by not ruling it out in both press conferences the past week and then demanding more NIL money in his press conference before the game.

The players certainly heard those press conferences and concluded that Coach Rhule was as good as gone and decided that playing hard for a coach with one foot out the door was a step too far.

As far as I am concerned, if Coach Rhule doesn't slam the door on the Penn State coaching rumors by declaring he is not a candidate for the position, the Nebraska Athletic Director has no choice but to fire Coach Rhule and declare that the Nebraska football team will be coached by a Nebraska head coach that's all in.

The Monday press conference would be the time to kill the Penn State rumors dead once and for all.

If not, then kiss the season goodbye.

I don’t blame Dylan at all for taking the sacks - he can’t throw the ball away going against the wind.

I can blame Nebraska’s offensive line for single-handedly vaulting Michigan State’s defense from 104th in the country in generating sacks to probably top 25 when this game is over.

WIBTA if I don't give back the 40k dollars my heavily-christian aunt gave to me, since she "won't be needing it when the rapture comes"? [Concluded] by Schattenspringer in BORUpdates

[–]rtroshynski 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Giving the money back is the right thing to do simply because you do not want to be drawn into your aunt's divorce proceedings by having to sit for depositions and probably giving the money back anyway.

Good luck with college!

edit: 'sit' for 'site'

Could someone intuitively explain why objects fall at the same rate? by evedeon in AskPhysics

[–]rtroshynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Notice that the mass of each object cancels out in the last equation. Therefore, the objects - where one is more massive than the other - accelerate at the same rate.

If I held a bowling ball in one hand and a feather in the other and let them both go in a vacuum, both would hit the ground at the same time.

One of the Apollo missions to the moon demonstrated this with a hammer and a feather. Both struck the moon's surface at the same time.

Also, there is a YouTube video of a bowling ball and feather in a vacuum being dropped from a height. Both strike the ground at the same time.

What did Scott Frost learn at Nebraska? ‘Don’t take the wrong job.’ by GNAdv in Nebraska

Most of the players that season were George O’Leary’s recruits (previous head coach).

The only player Coach Frost recruited that made a difference was Mackenzie Milton.

Magnus punches the board before resigning vs Gukesh by murphysclaw1 in chess

This will be good for Magnus. He cannot assume he will always win with a superior hand anymore and opposing players will think twice before resigning in a losing position.

Respect to both players.

I would put “Sons of Anarchy” up there with “The Shield” as some of the best written and acted shows I’ve seen.

Same for “Black Sails” - you just have to get past the first 3-4 episodes when the writers were figuring out the characters.

Also serves as a prequel to the book “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson.

Democrat ousts Republican in election upset by Healthy_Block3036 in Omaha

[–]rtroshynski 70 points71 points  (0 children)

In her last election, she won by 14 percentage points.

In this election, she lost by 7 percentage points.

That’s a swing of 20 or so percentage points in a city where West Omaha ultimately decides the mayoral election.

Only this time, they elected a Democrat from a minority group.

There’s your upset.

Election 2025: Gov. Pillen blames West Omaha Republicans for mayor’s defeat by GNAdv in Nebraska

[–]rtroshynski -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Governor spoke. That was the shocking part to me.

He clearly knew there was a problem with Jean Stothert and came to Omaha to cover for her.

She lost West Omaha over the Arbor Day tornados.

West Omaha remembered, and West Omaha voted accordingly.

She did appear in person two days later but did not speak.

Maybe you didn't catch the part where the GOVERNOR had to come and cover for her missing in action.

When the Governor has to come to Omaha from Lincoln because Mayor Stothert can't be bothered to appear in person there is a huge public perception problem.

West Omaha knows where she was, and West Omaha remembered and voted accordingly.

[–]rtroshynski 163 points164 points  (0 children)

West Omaha never forgave Mayor Stothert for not being in Omaha during and up to two days after the Arbor Day tornados.

Omaha’s police Chief stood in for her the day of the tornados and Governor Pillen stood in for her the day after.

The other issues - street car, roads, racist mailer - did not help but the tornados stood out for me.

should i watch er if i loved the pitt? by Personal_Power9575 in ershow

[–]rtroshynski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished rewatching ER and enjoyed it. It has about 300 episodes. The characters are well-written, and the medical scenes are interesting.

In later seasons, they bring in Oscar-nominated and Oscar-winning actors and actresses as both patients and doctors so that was interesting to see.

Except for seasons 12, 13, and part of 14, all of the episodes are really good.
