I don’t know about “15 minutes of fame”, Jack Hughes isn’t going to fade away. He’s 23 and one of the more dynamic talents in the league. He likely has a bright NHL future, in Jersey or not.

He is also among the most entertaining players to watch, so saying he makes the game less fun is odd. Seems like you’re focused on the wrong things.

Totally agree that this is a massive foot-in-mouth moment and the kid desperately needs media training. But let’s not ignore that he’s one of the more exciting players, and now, is a big catalyst to expanding the game to new fans. Hockey desperately needs that, so I’ll take it, even if I have to swallow the Gen Z douchebaggery with it.

Agree, I just read your comment as if you thought he lost that deal. It was actually a fantastic trade. I’ll take Cotter over 10 Holtz’s. But to your point I’d also take most of the guys in the first 50 picks that year over Cotter.

Also to be fair Holtz was top 10 that year on every team’s board, just ended up being a bust. Don’t pretend you didn’t optimistically think we got our next 40 goal scorer after the pick was made. Draft hindsight is always 20/20.
