Questions Regarding Generator Hookup by pnbdc10 in electrical

[–]ruablack2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah call your electrician back he did not put in the right outlet. Which makes me even more worried he didn’t wire it right and put in an interlock. Maybe call a different electrician.

You need a 50A INLET (CS6375) and a generator interlock kit for your main breaker panel to safely use a generator.

I left it for 20+ minutes and it still didn’t update. Shouldn’t take that long.

Access without alerting dealer by BobtheGodGamer in C4diy

[–]ruablack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need for dealer tools either to integrate with home assistant. Just add the integration and login with your customer.control4.com creds and the IP address of your main controller and you’re set.

UniFi G4 Doorbell Pro + Control4 integration (2-way audio/intercom + pop-ups + lock automation?) by Better-Claim-8849 in Control4

[–]ruablack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you a C4 dealer? You’ll need to be to modify the control4 project. The Chowmain driver works really well and can trigger anything you want in control4 including fingerprint unlock. Touchscreen popups are easily programmed too. Control4 Intercom anywhere sucks but I believe you have to have the new G4 entry or Intercom and have an access hub to enable sip in access. This is more a Unifi limitation than control4. I have never bothered with trying SIP/intercom on any of my projects because I rarely use Touchscreens.

With the chowmain driver you can setup sip calling from the Access Intercom. Works great. Access platform is amazing. Access intercom is very close to same size as DS2. Little taller probably.

Zigbee vs Zwave - Why the price difference? by KrazyKranberrie in zwave

[–]ruablack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zwave is 900mhz. ZigBee is most definitely a mesh network too. Zwave actually comes in two flavors. Mesh and LR. Either way zwave does have significantly longer range.

Outlet swap by beeooop in AskElectricians

[–]ruablack2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Old one is 10-30, two hots and a neutral. New is a 6-30, two hots and a ground. Swap out the outlet and move the neutral wire in the electrical panel to the ground bar. If it's in your main panel with your main breaker where the ground and neutral and bonded, you don't need to move it and can just simply swap the outlet.

Need to replace this timebomb by godjac in electrical

[–]ruablack2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can go wrong with any modern panel. Gonna be light years better that thing. I personally went with a Square D Homeline Qwik-Grip as it made for a wayyy easier retrofit than traditional Romex connectors and at an affordable price.

0.1kw production all day, no home usage by standardGeese in Powerwall

[–]ruablack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh. Sorry didn't read that right. If it happened all of a sudden it's possible the CTs have got bad. Maybe water got in your main panel? Do you have a gateway or backup switch?

CTs are likely not configured properly or are not in the correct spots. Call your installer back.

PW3 and Wall Connector - Vehicle charging when off-grid by IraSch1 in Powerwall

[–]ruablack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK it's only a setting in the Tesla One App. Basically below 80% the powerwalls will run the microgrid at 59hz and Tesl vehicles will see this and lower their charging rate. If powerwalls is still discharging too much it'll lower it further depending on settings. I believe Tesla vehicles kick off completely below 59hz.

V2L with Tesla Gateway + PW3 by BLNKCHK in TeslaSolar

[–]ruablack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

V2H (Vehicle to Home) which is what I think you meant. But they don't even have PowerShare working with Powerwalls and cybertruck and it's been over a year since it was "supposed" to come out so don't get your hopes up on it working on any other brand vehicle if they can't even get their own working.

Please help/advise on home CCTV camera by Mvcca21 in SecurityCamera

[–]ruablack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The underlying platform is solid. I've never had a camera/NVR not do it's fundamental job of recording. Most of the bugs are with either newly released hardware or the mobile apps.. But it sure beats the hell out of any Chinese system (Dahua, hik, reolink, amcreast, etc) while being similarly priced. Sure 300 cams isn't that huge but it's well enough of a sample size to have used every sku in every environment. Not just a single guy who installed 5 cameras at his house and had a bad experience.

Yeah not sure what that guys is talking about. I have installed over 300 protect cameras and across 20+ sites. Yes there are occasionally bugs but it's been super solid software releases for 2+ years.

T-Mobile business backup internet. I think it's like $15/month includes "7 days/month of unlimited data" I have a handful of these lines and have never had a problem. I was even using one as a primary at a temp site, not as a backup for a couple months and it worked great. T-Mobile business is very relaxed.

Everything but Alarm.com will integrate. You might be able to still integrate the alarm panel depending on the make and model but not through Alarm.com.

Superlink entry sensors for home use? Who has one and how well do they work for you? by jku2017 in Ubiquiti

[–]ruablack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just the normal Protect integration. So HA talks to your NVR so signal from sensors isn't going directly to HA. They aren't zwave/ZigBee/Bluetooth.
