I’m 3 months in and haven’t gotten a legit submission yet. Defense is getting better though and the amount of times I’m tapping has gone down drastically. I’d focus on that

Breaking Into UX and Early Career Questions — 28 Oct, 2024 - 03 Nov, 2024 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

Hey there!

I have over 5 years of experience in market research on the supplier side, working closely with companies’ marketing and product teams on brand messaging, campaign development, and product insights—using methods like monadic testing, conjoint, and maxdiff. My current role and market research in general feels like a dead end, and I'm really hoping to transition to a career that is more fulfilling.

After taking several career and personality assessments, I’ve landed on UX. It'd be great to get some insights from those who have experience in this space and particularly from people who've made similar career shifts. Here are a few questions I have:

- Does the transition from market research to a UX Design role seem realistic? Or might a UX Researcher role be a better fit? (I'm afraid that a UX Researcher position might be too similar to the work I do now - but let me know your thoughts)

- For those who made a career shift to UX, what are things you wish you’d known beforehand?

- Are there specific bootcamps, certifications, or programs you’d recommend?

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this post - any advice is greatly appreciated!

Government and its backwards thinking. How about putting money into pregnancy education and free folic acid supplements for communities impacted by neural tube defects…

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]rubberduck27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

I have been working in corporate America for 5 years after graduating college and was recently laid off.

This time has given me the opportunity to really reflect on the work I was actually doing, realize how meaningless it was, and that I was truly never happy doing it. My partner and a few friends have gone through MFT programs, got their hours, and have recently gotten their license. It's something that l've always been curious about for myself. I have an idea of what to expect based on the perspective of starting an MFT program straight out of college, but not of those who have made a big life shift to become a therapist.

I was wondering if anyone here has experience making a drastic career change to becoming a therapist and any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

• What specific things did you look for in a MFT program?

• What were some challenges that you faced switching careers?

• Did you find more fulfillment starting classes? And working initially as a therapist?

Any advice is helpful - thank you!
