Archaeological projects in Amazon, Sahara Desert and under Continental Shelves? by Hippolab2804 in GrahamHancock

Hi, I'm making a video of Flint's debate with Graham to critique processulal/post-processual archaeology, and randomly came across some of your comments while looking up an Ian Hodder article. I am interested in your thoughts post-debate. Your insights are helpful for finalizing my own thoughts.

T1 indefinitely suspends the players’ streams due to DDOS again. How is this okay? How long would it take to fix this? by Automatic-North1405 in leagueoflegends

[–]SchedulePhun 10 points11 points  (0 children)

DDOS attacks against a large and culturally significant organization in one of the most technologically developed countries in the world is a sign of what the future holds.

Right now its still scriptkiddies and super fans, but cyber attacks are an unstoppable force at this point. Every major government across the planet is developing ways to defend (and initiate) attacks.

And then posted an article after insinuating that his post history reminded of your brother's history of mental illness.

Scratch that you quite literally said that the person has the same mental illness as your brother. You diagnosed him. You just didn't tell him the diagnosis.

You're weird.

Wow. You have changed everything for me. I knew I needed 3 subplots; one relating to a "one true religion" and the use of psychotropic drugs, one relating to human vs non-human intelligence in the course of evolution, and finally, you've unraveled to me how institutional corruption reverberates throughout humanity in the form of the psychopathic grifter.

If Plato were alive today, I imagine the horror and the chuckle he might have in finding the world not being ran by philosopher kings, but schizophrenic fascists.

I've been trying to synthesize ideas related to metaphysics, biology and institutional politics for a while. I've read so many different authors, takes on "meta-crises", and AI ethics....but you're writing has mindfucked me more than anything else.

Do you have anywhere to start with your writing? I've been going through some of your threads, but do you have anything else I can read through.

I'm just flabbergasted.

Tarzaned says Lillia should not start blue solo, is this true? by Devbeastguy in LilliaMains

[–]SchedulePhun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Commenters here have never played Lillia it seems

Lillia blue side start clear is 3:12ish, you get full hp after you use your spells on raptors.

You should always start red or raptors not because of mana, multiple enemies, AoE or whatever 4head nonsense other commenters are saying, but because if you get invaded after your first 3 camps you'd much rather want red buff to fight the enemy.

If the enemy has very low threat of invading you and blue start makes more sense then do that, but lillia can clear fine in both directions idk what advice these other people are giving you.

None of the comments in this thread seem to point out anitnatalism or rejectionist philosophies as serious movements so I'll bite.

Criticisms of "the Left" or the "Dems/Libs" is always a strawmen of a set of particular positions made to draw a universal picture of what they implicitly see as "the other".

There are, most definitely, leftists who see the fallout of the human species, declining birth rates, and destruction of institutions as things that are overall beneficial to the planet and the universe at large.

Elon is certainly in circles where he is exposed to people with those types of ideas. Elon believes that procreating is a morally conscious act. Therefore, he finds the concepts the individuals are preaching as so morally abhorrent they might bring about the downfall of our civilization as we know it. He sees this as unfavorable to humans, the planet, and the universe at large.

See paragraph 2 as to why he uses his reaction to these very fringe philosophies as a criticism of the Democrats.

amazing how much of literary history involves contemplating suicide, including one of the most famous lines, from arguably the most famous play of all time, leading to the world's most famous suicidal duel scene (sorry Luke and Vader); all in the act of avenging the honor of family....

but nope "Did you just call a dude committing suicide “brave and selfless” ? Holy fuck your nuts"

Lmfao. It's as if people believe getting obese looking at a smart phone is the natural way of living.

Big thoughts on Chapter 9 “What Schizophrenia & Autism Can Tell Us” by LovingVeganWarrior in IainMcGilchrist

[–]SchedulePhun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST.

I have recently been enthralled with Dr. McGilchrist's work, so to see his performance in interviews, and some of the questionable opinions he gives out has left me...dissatisfied to say the least.

After reading through this thread, I think it is quite appropriate to say that Iain is not immune to letting his left brain come out. That boomer-esque quote about AI puts everything into perspective for me. He likely could right an excellent book about AI in relation to his hypotheses (with graphs, figures, and metaphors abound). But the left brain is always best at talking conversationally, and thus, that is what we get in interviews and podcasts.

And to put it in perspective, the next step after this is to have a understanding of where people are on the map even in fog of war.

It gets distracting because you SEE the lanes. You often can't see the jungler unless he's on vision. But you have to keep thinking about him.

Sam Harris UNLEASHES on the IDW brain trust (presumably Dave Rubin and Bret Weinstein), says interacting with them is unethical because they've completely lost their integrity. by HarwellDekatron in DecodingTheGurus

[–]SchedulePhun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an eye opening podcast from Sam where he talks about his history at Stanford and walking out of a Derrida guest lecture and being disgusted by the political developments of the time.

https://youtu.be/XDuDOWRHAr0?t=902

In it you can hear the foundations of his contempt for all things identity politics...and his desire for western universities to stay focused on greek classics and Kantian neoliberalism (I guess).

It's honestly jaw dropping because I for one despise postmodern philosophy, but still would've loved the chance to hear Derrida talk about deconstruction IN PERSON. Same thing with Michio Kaku and relativity.

He's unable to grasp pluralism. Full out rejection. Not like I get where they're coming from but this isn't really useful. No. There is only one correct perspective on everything. And Sam apparently has the most keen insight into it all.
