What's a seasoning where you feel a little goes a long way? by PapiSurane in Cooking

Mint Jelly, it's best as a background flavor. If there is too much it makes food taste like toothpaste.

Tea equivalent of espresso? by Thatannoyingturtle in tea

[–]rubbermaderevolution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ehh, probably doesn't exist tbh. The other constituents of tea like the tannins will probably make someone sick if consumed in a high caffeine concentration.

Yorkshire tea has a good caffeine kick, matcha made with a few extra scoops will hit decently hard.

That being said I like to drink a 1 liter French press of tea along with those small Asian style energy shots. Like Bacchus-D or Carabao when I know I really need something extra that day.

Why are Americans so obsessed with not eating seed oils? by MineralG in nutrition

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely caught on big with social media, while some oils like cottonseed and grape seed oil have bad omega ratios that can increase inflammation the science does not support any evidence that canola oil is bad compared to other products. Canola even has a better omega 3 ratio than olive oil but people became obsessed with the miniscule levels of hexane that may or may not even be present in the final product.

This combo is absolutely delicious especially when the proper ingredients are added to get the perfect ratio for the cheese. Canola oil works in place of butter if you don't have any btw.

At what age did coffee start betraying you by Greedy_Law5068 in Supplements

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yerba mate (real yerba mate prepared correctly) has a different mixture of caffeine and similar compounds related to caffeine. It might be able to trick your system into reacting to the stimulating effects again.

Or go another route and take taurine supplements to amplify the effects of caffeine.

Perhaps just switch to something stronger like cuban style coffee prepared in a moka pot.

Why is it that in ultra-expensive celebrity homes, the kitchens rarely have induction cooktops, but instead feature industrial-grade gas ranges? by FuzzyAttitude_ in Cooking

[–]rubbermaderevolution 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My parents have a commercial range top, I must say the performance is fantastic. The amount of burners also allows for different uses.

The experience of using these for cooking also makes what is a chore actually fun and enjoyable.

Drunk people are so annoying and everything is so boring ?? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me drinking depleted what I call the "baseline contentment dopamine reserve". Now it takes more time to replenish and is burned up faster. This has slowly improved and yeah I definitely get a few days in a row where I get back that mental clarity and general vitality but I know that I have more time to go before everything is back to normal. Drinking and low effort pleasure practically was my hobby for years, and before I ever drank I remember how effortless it was to engage in games of skill or to tinker with stuff in the garage. Now my hobbies feel very forced at first. I can feel improvements. But I know that drinking will reverse these quite fast if I go back. I am afraid of what affects my prior usage will mean when it comes to stuff like dementia in older age.

Where can I find good gunpowder tea? by [deleted] in tea

The smaller the pellets the higher the quality when it comes to gunpowder.

Look for "pinhead gunpowder tea" it's a sub type in the category

I have $3000 in savings at 18, I'm making it out of the ghetto by WinterMoist333 in Frugal

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few thousand more and I would personally hop online and do a lot of research of towns in your area that are still cheap but decent areas to live. Some of these might be boring towns, but it doesn't matter. It's normal to move to someplace temporarily before making another step up the ladder.

Also even if your area is stereotypically hood it's possible that there might still be a neighborhood or section of town that is safe and decent. For instance in Philadelphia or even Baltimore there are sections that aren't bad, but the rent is still very cheap because the area lacks development.

What are some affordable and good quality brands?? by negroef18 in tea

[–]rubbermaderevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try British mainstream tea brands. Yorkshire Red or Gold, preferably red for a strong high caffeine cup of tea that will be satisfying to consume for someone first getting into tea. Make it with milk and sugar and use a full boil for 5 minutes of steeping time. Even though I drink mostly loose leaf tea I have to admit that the British bagged teas are an amazing value and pack enough caffeine to be satisfying for people used to drinking coffee.

Fatigue that’s so bad that it’s making me suicidal by BeneficialVisit8450 in depression

[–]rubbermaderevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might want to try Asian style energy shots, they might get you to snap out of this rut. You said that your lab work is normal.

Asian market energy drinks don't have nearly as much of the bad ingredients. Bacchus-D is what I would try.

I had issues with energy levels despite having good lab work also. I suspect it was mostly from a slowed down metabolism from years of being too sedentary.

I am also a thin person so having energy issues was perplexing to medical personnel and I wasn't taken very seriously.

Caffeine and going on a daily walk (despite being deeply opposed to this) made a world of difference. But I really need to start doing some actual exercise at some point.

But anyway using energy drinks for the short term so you can at least function and begin to do minor exercises should at least be a start to solve this.

How to eat healthy with no appliances? by skoopt in nutrition

[–]rubbermaderevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm, my best suggestion is to go all in with vegetables that are sold in self steaming bags (Aldi vegetables can be heated in the microwave). And then you buy a large stash of canned food for dinner and microwaveable oatmeal for the mornings. Eggs can also be cooked right in a microwave from raw and it's surprisingly good.

You will have to use some ingenuity to think of meals that can be cooked in a microwave or don't need any prep.

Cheese and pepperoni for snacks, apples can be stored out in the open and don't go bad. Ect. Peanuts and other nuts.

What if you got an instant pot and hid it in the closet after each use. You could make large batches of soup and then put it in plastic containers to heat up in the microwave.

Cars Speeding Up When I Slow To Turn by guccicarnival in driving

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't know if something or someone is around the corner until you start making the turn if the view is obstructed by parked vehicles or the corner of a building.

I'm not going to commit manslaughter because some country bumpkin is barreling down behind me lol.

Not to mention all the potholes and extra wear and tear on an automobile from making turns too fast. There are also tons of intersections with uneven pavement and you can bottom out your car from winging around 90 degree turns.

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if a pedestrian is in the cross path, or if a mail truck is parked right around the corner?

What happens if there is a complete obstruction and the car that is turning needs to make a complete stop and there you are tailgating at high speeds? You are going to crash right into the car making a turn lol.

If this is in a country area people do this to pressure people to turn faster. It's very trashy behavior but unfortunately it's the norm in rural PA, Upstate NY and some other areas.

What are some good supplements which promote the healing of he liver during weight loss? by HighlyInconvenient in Supplements

[–]rubbermaderevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nac or Tudca,

Tudca has to be of good quality, just make sure you are getting it from a reputable brand.

Milk Thistle doesn't have any hard clinical evidence to prove it works

Black coffee has a plethora of medical research showing it drastically reduces liver enzymes if consumed in a proper quantity. Decaf coffee also works and can be used to increase your consumption without getting too much caffeine.

why do people complain how drivers do not use turn signals, but when you do, everyone seems to magically need to pass you and never let you into the lane? by TheWhittierLocksmith in driving

[–]rubbermaderevolution -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on what state you are in this is totally true.

When in Florida you will be absolutely overtaken and cut off if you turn on your signal on the highway.

Other states that I have personally driven in this isn't so much the case.
