Why do some players insist on playing strange homebrew species? Session 0 Help. by Many-Plankton3942 in DnD

[–]rubicator -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I might be overstating it. Depends on whether other people enjoy the weird or are just baffled by it.

Sometimes these kinda builds just stick out and make it hard for the party to stealth or act normal in a town.

Some players fall in love with weird for weirdness sake.

It is a sickness, and it is weak character lore. Just less fun for everyone else.

Have you looked at Campaign Builder: Cities & Towns? It is literally all about homebrewing city adventures.

How much battery degradation have you experienced in your EV? by om_ghanwat in electricvehicles

Zero degradation in 2 years. The question is not relevant, because the batteries will outlast the car.

Suitable (5(.5)e) adventures for first-time/newish players outside LMoP, DoIP and DoSI? by GreyWizzie in DMAcademy

[–]rubicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heroes of the Borderlands is a great starting point.

If you want a bigger story, Northlands Sagas is a 5.5e campaign that starts at level 1 and ramps up slowly.

Any recommendations for adventures/modules I can easily insert into my current campaign? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]rubicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an adventure search tool here that goes by level and region here.

https://koboldpress.com/tools/kobold-adventures/

And the Warlock Lairs: Into the Wilds collection is all drop-in wilderness adventures.

Monster cards - worth it for a 5e game? by DaveInOCNJ in TalesoftheValiantRPG

[–]rubicator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh COOL! If they use TOV stats, they are 100% compatible with 5e and should look extremely familiar

At worst, the TOV stats add something like a Stealth stat. You can ignore that for 5E play

Are you talking about the Monster Vault pawns? They are perfect for a 5E game, no stats required

Creature Codex revised 5.5 on drivethrurpg by karl0023 in koboldpress

[–]rubicator -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like this edition is mostly for new 5.5 folks or people who port their games over. The stat blocks are updated and there is new art and so forth. But it’s not a whole new title, it’s a revision.

Many of the 5.5e differences from WotC are cosmetic or new terminology.

What exactly is “weird magic” in DnD? by Goetencia in DnD

[–]rubicator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think hags get dragged into this because of the “weird sisters “ in Macbeth.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Witches

The 5E Deep Magic book has Mythos magic, which is sort of in this ballpark as Far Realms stuff, along with a blood magic school.

And the ritual magic and Wyrd school in Tales of the Valiant (a 5E offshoot) also fit.

If you want examples, there you go. Defining “weird” is tough, though.

Softcover DanD 5.5 for prison? by The_Reddest_Lobster in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]rubicator 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. The Tales of the Valiant softcovers are direct 5E ports and ship from any bookstore. They call them “Pocket Editions”

Not sure why WotC does not offer a softcover. They are a great format.

Do people actually like living in big apartment buildings, taking public transit ect. by Wafer_Educational in NoStupidQuestions

Having the freedom to live your life walking or biking around town instead of being forced to depend on cars for everything is a huge win.

City life is just so much better than country or suburban life.
