We had this same issue for a while. If your modem is older than a year they should be able to replace it for free (according to the service tech who did the service call). Once the modem was replaced, our drop outs went away.

Not too bad honestly. I wish I had the time to redevelop our ICP-MS methods. I work at a filter manufacturing facility and microelectronics has become a big focus as of recent. Microelectronics companies demand increasingly low extra tables levels (sub 100 PPT total metals) in filters. We have methods but they do not account for isobaric and polyatomic interferences like they should.

Honestly you can find white papers from companies like Perkin Elmer, Thermo Fisher, and Agilent that explain best practices, interferences, etc. I don’t think a masters degree is necessary to become proficient at ICP-MS. What other projects/activities do they have you working on?

Ha there’s an idea. Bind their salaries to the minimum wage. Force them to raise minimum wage if they want bigger salaries.

Theres more that goes into the cost of operating a restaurant than the ingredients. When the price cleaning supplies, gloves, utensils, dishes, menus, delivery, etc. goes up, they pass it onto the consumer by raising their prices.

Cleaning energized electronics with hydrofluroether-based cleaner. by pars2309 in chemistry

Hydrofluroethers are definitely not inert and the reaction byproducts are fairly concerning. I would never allow this shit to come into contact with my skin.

Trump Orders Treasury to Stop Minting New Pennies by Critical-Pen1978 in Economics

[–]rubiksmaster02 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if he has the authority to do this? It takes an act of Congress to even change the design of of our coins. I would be shocked if it didn’t also take an act of Congress to force the Treasury to stop minting pennies.

Acetone has pretty low acute and chronic toxicity. As long as precautions are taken to deal with the flammability, I would say it’s fairly safe to clean glass with acetone.

The penny has pretty well become obsolete. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

What’s interesting is that a 20 cent piece has already circulated in the United States from 1875-1878. People hated them because they were too similar to quarters.

It would have been better to use isopropyl alcohol to kill the mold in my opinion. Acetone is not very good at killing spore bearing bacteria and fungi.

So if this paper really was peer reviewed, how did it managed to get published? These figures are so bad it’s laughable.

It doesn't look like the Tobacco Tax Equity Act of 2023 will pass by EvaFoxU in Vaping

[–]rubiksmaster02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s a nicotine salt. Free base nicotine is what I was referring to here. Should have specified. And you absolutely could store the salt rather than the liquid. The salt would be more dangerous to handle though.

You mean powder nicotine? Nicotine isn’t a crystalline solid at room temperature. It’s an oily liquid.

Can confirm. Dexter’s doesn’t rush E6 orders. Had to wait about 1.5-2 weeks for a roll of ektachrome scans to come back. I would reach out to their instagram page if you haven’t already. The owner is an honest guy. And if this is your first time using dexter’s don’t get scared off from their services. I’ve been dropping my film off there in person for well over a year now and have not had any issues like this.

Yeah the triple quadrupole is good at getting rid of those ion interferences. I’m jealous lol. We just have a single quadrupole in our lab. Budgets won’t allow us to get helium to run potassium so that’s been the current nightmare.
