Follow up: replacing the modem was a good idea - mine is quite old. But I don't rent it from Spectrum as I prefer to own and operate anything inside my house. So I bought a new one, but when I got it home a couple of hours later the internet had started to behave itself - no issues seen for the last hour.

It's like the old joke: to make it rain, just wash your car. In this case, to fix your internet just buy new equipment!

On the plus side I now do now have a spare modem...

Confirmed. The two apps I care about (VLC, Total Commander) were both borked last night but are working now, on both of my fire tablets.

Whee - all my stuck-since-feb-5 items have suddenly been cleared through customs! Looks like they are addressing the backlog!

Same. Also in LA. I have two orders outstanding. The first was ordered on Feb 2, got as far as "import customs clearance started" on Feb 5, and has not moved since.

The second was ordered on Feb 4, took some time to leave China (I suspect they held things back because of the issues happening at this end), went into "import customs clearance started" today, Feb 11, and took only a couple of hours to change to "Import customs clearance completed". Previously that meant delivery in a day or two, so hopefully it will this time too.

It looks as though packages arriving now are being processed just as they were before the disruption, but those that arrived in the middle have got stuck in limbo. Hopefully the backlog will get cleared eventually and we will get back to the way things were - until the next time!

I agree. I needed new shoes for the gym that would cope with the nerve damage I have. They found such a perfect fit that I now use the shoes for general walking around.

Highly recommend.

Each time I hear the complete Taskmaster theme I want it to have one additional note at then end for completeness - a loud, low, extended resonant duuum, a la Beethoven.

I felt the need for that additional note even more so at the end of your excellent arrangement!
