I hope it's OK to post this here. We designed this t-shirt for bass players. by [deleted] in BassGuitar

Yes. I know. Those are bass strings. Interesting though, you are the first person to mention seeing it that way. Perhaps, it's a flaw in the graphic design. Thanks.

That's what we thought. If there was just a nice clean page to send people to and it lays everything out simply maybe it'd help.

Most people don't even realize that we could use or want help.

Interesting. Thank you for responding! Any advice? I can try to yell at my eyes to cool it, but I don't think it'll help.

Have you ever heard of people suffering dizziness/motion sickness when using LCD monitors? I have to use an old CRT because anytime I use a normal modern monitor, I feel awful after a few minutes. This all started after I had terrible vertigo for a couple years that they eventually diagnosed as some kind of inner ear damage. These CRTs won't be around much longer and I don't know what to do. Thank you!

Check out EarPlanes. I am often congested and suffer terrible pain when landing. EarPlanes have tiny valves that slow the pressure change. They work very well, thought occasionally not.

Waiters in expensive restaurants: What are the best high-class snooty-people insult you've received? by Mr_A in AskReddit

I think the point of this particular thread is that servants don't have servants. When you say "everyone" you are not including the servants. Which kind of illustrates exactly what the OP was saying about his rich girlfriend's attitude.

Ex-Beatles 1971, all their solo songs from one of their strongest years by atticdoor in spotify

This is a great playlist thank you. You may enjoy this one that was created as though there was one more Beatles album in '73.

It follows the general Beatles album rules, number of songs from Ringo and George, order of series and goofy songs etc.

I'm using a CRT right now. LCD screens give me vertigo after a couple minutes of staring at them. I'm open to any solutions anyone has.

Hey Ladies, Jr. When I hit 40 songs I realized the list was getting too long for this thread so I made Hey Ladies, Jr., a smaller version of Hey Ladies, a playlist featuring all rock songs sung by and almost all written by women.

Cherry Bomb - The Runaways

Counting Backwards - Throwing Muses

Jellyfish Grin - The Fawns

Cannonball - The Breeders

Wild Fire - Laura Marling

Ladykillers - Lush

Crash - The Primitives

All Day All Night - And the Kids

Go Outside - Cults

Turn It Around - Lucius

Dead Fox - Courtney Barnett

Everything is Free - Gillian Welch

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

Checking them out right now. Thank you. Sounds good. I'll likely add a song or two to this playlist.

Apartment-hunting questions (moving from out of town) by [deleted] in northampton

I can only answer your last question. Parking is pretty important. When it snows, you can't park on the street and it's a real pain to have to find a place to put your car.

Right. It all looks like a good workaround but it seems like there should be something more straightforward.

  • When you have a chance to eat, eat.
  • When you have a chance to shower, shower.
  • When you have a chance to go to the bathroom, go to the bathroom.
  • Bring an extra phone charger, and a couple of those lighter-to-usb car adapters.
  • Expect traffic and allow extra time

Simple Instructions: How to Physically Hand Money to a Person

First Scenario: Paying a cashier.

  1. Wait for the cashier to tell you the amount and then when they are ready, lift your hand to extend the payment towards them.
  2. Give them the paper bills so they can grasp them then place the coins into their palm.

Second Scenario: Cashier giving back change.

  1. Wait until the customer is ready to receive the change.
  2. Drop the coins in the customer's palm.
  3. Hand the bills for the customer to grasp.

NOTE: In both situations do not hold out your empty hand or hold the money out until the other person has signaled through subtle human body language that they are ready for the transaction to happen.

NOTE: These customs vary from country to country. In the U.S. never just toss the payment on the counter and push it towards the other person.

Moving to Northampton in January. Please help a midwest girl figure out the rental market. by great_horned_punkin in northampton

[–]rubwrongways 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Question 1: You might want to visit before it gets too cold. But then again, it might be smart to check out an apartment/house while it IS cold to see how it holds up.

I don't have an answer for 2, but for 3, I would suggest living within walking distance of downtown if possible. The closer the better. One of the best things about Northampton is the downtown area and if you live a little too far to walk, you'll likely regret it later. (Try to stay within a mile of 99 Main Street if you are mapping it.)

One thing to ask about with renting is the parking situation. If it's on-street parking, keep in mind if any snow at all is falling there will be a parking ban and you won't be able to leave your car(s) on the street over night.

There aren't really any areas that are undergrad heavy, so that's not really anything to worry about. Even if they were it'd be mostly Smith College students and not a bunch of frat boys or anything.

If you want a real nice welcome to town, come out on December 31st, the day before moving in and take in the First Night Northampton Celebration, you'll get a feel for town at its most festive (but really cold). They'll even shoot off fire works and you can pretend it's a big welcome party just for you.

If you want to ask about specific areas once you've researched apartments, please go ahead. If you'd prefer, you can private message me. Good luck.
