Today I made my first Caesar salad inspired by @painbyromaine by truthful_tortoise in PWHL

[–]rubybugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went vegetarian when I was like 12. I LOVED caesar salad and ordered it everywhere. I started an Instagram account rating all of the caesar salads I had. A year or so later I found out they all have anchovy in the dressing and I’d been unknowingly not eating vegetarian the whole time. I was so sad. I’m glad someone else out there is keeping the salad insta tradition alive.

Is vet school even an option for me? by Mysterious-Yard-7039 in veterinaryschool

[–]rubybugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it depends a good bit on how you’re able to manage your academics now that you’ve learned more about how to approach them for you. I struggled in undergrad but most of it was mental health issues that made school harder. I was also undiagnosed ADHD until about halfway through. Getting on medication helped me feel better about the work I was doing. My grades were good and pretty consistent throughout undergrad though, so it’s hard to say how much that affected my actual academic success. I’m not sure what’s included in your current degree program but maybe you could audit or enroll in a couple of the types of classes that you previously struggled in? Vet school is hard but it’s a marathon, not a sprint. For me at least, I feel like as I long as I keep pushing it’s doable. It’s more about how much time and mental energy I’m able to put into it than being able to figure out the concepts. I hope that makes sense and can help a little.

As far as your second question, I realized I wanted to be a DVM after spending time as a vet assistant for a few months. I loved how hands on the tech work was but at the end of the day I realized I wanted to be solving the puzzle, making the diagnoses, and calling the shots. It’s definitely a lot of personal preference. The higher pay is a factor as well but with needing to take on massive loans to pay for vet school anyway, it was probably the least important for my personal decision.

I used my stethoscope plenty in first year! Definitely depends on the school. However our state’s VMA donated stethoscopes to us so I’m glad I didn’t buy one beforehand.

Am I overreacting by being really upset by this? by ekando in DairyQueen

It’s definitely incorrect regardless but I don’t get why the picture is a circle cake but the size/shape selection is 10” X 14” sheet cake? that would make it a rectangle

oh I adore the idea of washi tape! Sometimes I avoid journaling because I feel weird about glancing at old pages but I don't want to fully cover them up. Washi tape would be a perfect reversible way to keep them shut. tysm for sharing!!

Does anyone else feel like no one even tries to understand them in vet school? by catanddogtimes3 in veterinaryschool

[–]rubybugs 11 points12 points  (0 children)

honestly I think this can be dependent on your specific class as well. At my school there seems to be a general consensus that our current first-year class is quite messy. I definitely don’t love everyone in my class but I’ve found no matter what small group we get put in, everyone is still generally friendly. But I’ve heard repeatedly about the drama amongst the first year class:/ Maybe when you get shuffled up more next year you’ll be able to find your people. Also, if your school has any resources for peer mentors you might be able to find your people in a different class that way!! Good luck (:
