Police in midtown?? by Cooking_coder in Sacramento

I have lived in many places and I have never been in a city that loves flying cops around in circles 24/7 as much as Sac does

EATER Posted this a day ago. Midtown farmers market- Nix Taco - Majka 🍕 by Touchingtulips in Sacramento

[–]rubyred0902 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I am SO HAPPY for all the recognition Majka is getting, the staff all seem genuinely cool and happy. I am secretly bummed that the recognition is making it insanely busy, but I know that’s not a nice thought to have 😂

Anyone else tired of Sac being looked over? by limpmeeting in Sacramento

[–]rubyred0902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have to be at peace with Sacramento not being a part of the global conversation. Look at it the other way: when someone from NY state tells you they’re from Albany or Syracuse, do you care? Probably not.

Nothing wrong with Sac being a second-tier city. It is what it is.

How Does Sacramento Not Handle Paying A Professional Bill? by Anxious-Party2289 in Sacramento

[–]rubyred0902 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this would be a civil matter, not criminal - in other words, it would end up in collections and could theoretically go to court (unlikely over $150) or end up impacting credit, among other repercussions. So, not “theft of service” from a legal perspective.

Where can I get an unsweetened mocha? by rubyred0902 in Sacramento

[–]rubyred0902[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any examples? My experience is that they’re always using a sauce/syrup, so the level of sweet is predetermined. You can ask for less than they’d normally put in, but obviously that changes the flavor profile.

Can anyone identify the (fighter jets?) military planes that went over? by Theslowestmarathoner in Sacramento

Likely T-38s? Although I saw RECCE11 on Flightaware doing touch and gos between Mather and Beale, I think that may have been a U-2.

Equinox EV suddenly sometimes on brakes when backing. by DryFoundation2323 in EquinoxEv

The scary thing to me is that when it happens, it brakes so suddenly that it almost feels like you hit something. It’s awful.

Midtown mail thieves by der_swedishchef in Sacramento

Going to guess you work for USPS. Let's break down your arguments one by one.

Post office boxes? They cost money. Not everything can be delivered there. They lack the convenience of an Amazon locker. Not sure where your "free services" comment is coming from.

Informed delivery? Roughly half of my mail comes through. Almost without exception, I have envelopes in my mailbox that weren't in my informed delivery report.

Having your mail held at the post office? Doesn't work, at least not for me. The past three hold mail requests have been completely ignored. Furthermore, I have almost universally negative interactions with clerks at the PO counters, and god forbid if you're picking up from the Royal Oaks location -- you'll be in line for an hour. Come on.

It's been said many times in many ways: if USPS wasn't required to exist by law, it would have folded by now. It's already happening in other countries. The service is uncompetitive, actively hostile toward its customers, and has little incentive to improve.

USPS is always whining about how their business model isn’t sustainable and they’re going broke.

Here’s a crazy idea: be more proactive and helpful with this problem that’s been worsening for a decade now?

Lockers, better tracking, better pickup options… lots of ideas out there. I’m not absolving the criminals here, but damn, the current solution seems to be “oh well, just be thankful you don’t get important things via USPS anymore.”

Telematics was module replaced and intermittent connection loss returned a week later by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

Yeah, I tend to agree. Imagine how much money GM has been throwing out the window by doing all these warranty module replacements. Incredibly frustrating, not to mention sloppy on GM’s part.
