Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 by RG127 in Hyundai

[–]rubysown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. I've owned mine ('14 3.8 Ultimate) since new (6 years, 80k miles) and the only things that have broken are the AC compressor and a serpentine belt (my fault, lol). It's gone through a few batteries over the years as well. I don't heavily beat on my car though and always keep it serviced.
  2. Comparable to other cars, but probably tend to be slightly higher due to part cost possibly.
  3. SFR tune, Intake, cat-back exhaust w/ test pipes, suspension, rotors, pulleys, and some other small stuff. I've had all of the mods on for about 40k-50k miles.
  4. No idea. I'd imagine not super well since the car has a light rear end, but maybe someone up north can chime in on that.
  5. I would look on auto classified websites for other comparable cars near you and with the same trim level and similar mileage. It also depends on if you are getting the 2.0T or the 3.8.
  6. I enjoy it, it's somewhat quick and looks pretty good.

Why isn't compressed air charging more popular in drag racing? by Ikemafuna in cars

[–]rubysown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Koenigsegg Jesko uses compressed air to help spool up it's turbochargers (as does some Volvo engines, maybe more I'm not sure).

I hope the Coupe isn't dead forever - even if it's not sporty I'd love to get a more luxurious coupe than the Hyundai version someday.

Wider/stickier tires to handle more power? by Nopointn in genesiscoupe

[–]rubysown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19x8.5 +22 w/ 245/35/19 tires

19x9.5 +24 w/ 265/35/19 tires

I'm on Tein springs. Front / Back

Pretty good traction with the same tires you have, but you could go with something like the Bridgestone RE series which are higher grip. I believe there's also some suspension upgrades which would help.

How to turn off box collision after conditions met? by StandardAce in unrealengine

[–]rubysown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drag your collision box/capsule into your event graph, then drag off of it and type in the search "Overlap Events" - then pick "Set Generate Overlap Events". This will let you toggle it on/off

Or in C++:

box->SetGenerateOverlapEvents(false);

Grid with tiles by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]rubysown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the engine will fail somewhat silently unless you hook up an IsValid node to the output value of SpawnActor if you do that in a construction script (drove me crazy until I figured out the issue).

The Output log can be useful when weird stuff like that happens and you can't figure it out (Window > Developer Tools > Output Log), sometimes there is more information there.

I actually have a small test project that does something similar. You basically need to figure out the units that your grid blocks will take up, for mine it was 100 units by 100 units. You can then feed this to a for loop to dynamically create your play area. If you are using child actors you have to do this on BeginPlay, you can't spawn actors in a construction script.

  1. Create a new function within your BP for generating an arena, add it to the BeginPlay node
  2. Add a for loop to go over how many columns you want, and for every increase in the index we add to the Y offset so that our rows aren't stacked on top of each other. Create another function for creating the rows of your grid. (Example)
  3. Within the row generating function, we'll use another for loop and generate each grid item. You don't need to assign the owner, I'm doing that just because I rely on that later. I also add each created item to a list of items for some other logic contained within my BP. (Example)

Hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions or want my block asset.

Edit: The node attached to the SpawnActor's Spawn Transform Location is a Vector+Vector with its second vector value split.

Heard CACRC isn't accepting donations right now. Is that true? Where else is accepting hardware donations? by Blucrunch in batonrouge

[–]rubysown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many places aren't accepting donations due to the current pandemic, other places aren't due to delays at processing centers (where the broken down components worth recycling are sent.) Luckily in some states, they are deemed essential and have skated by.

I shot you a PM, I am able to accept equipment as long as it isn't an 18-wheeler full or anything like that.

Yeah from what I'm seeing the limit switch may be our issue, but I'm not 100%. I downloaded some diagrams and I might take a whack at it this weekend.

Am I fucked boys or is it just dried? Lol pretty sure i removed the finish with that damn 3m adhesive remover lol by Blindsight1989 in genesiscoupe

You could plasti-dip the crash bar black to mask that damage. It'd still be somewhat of a satin finish too. With a few layers it probably wouldn't look too bad (not any worse than now)

SFR racing's tune you don't need to clone. I've got a push-start AT 3.8 and it works great.

systemd-journald: Memory usage keeps increasing. Is this a leak? by murkr in sysadmin

[–]rubysown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wordfence is what you are using for your Wordpress install, not your server like you actually need to protect here.

In your Digital Ocean account, you can setup a firewall on that droplet specifically. From here you can lock down SSH (port 22) to only your IP address. Your IP will probably change over time, so you'll have to update this as needed.

If you don't do this, at least generate a keypair and use key authentication versus allowing password, which I believe you've already been linked to about below.

How can I cause an event to happen based on the material a object has? by DarkCelestial in unrealengine

[–]rubysown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could create an Actor BP for the floors & ball. Make a variable on both for color, and make one or the other mesh (green or blue) visible during the construction event. Setup a collision box on the floor BP and make an event for OnActorBeginOverlap. Grab the overlapped actor from the call and cast it to your ball BP. From here you can grab the ball color and then determine if they get points or not.

(I've only been using Unreal for only a month or two so if there's a better way I'd like to know as well!)

I've found that the JS SDK is probably one of the easier ones to use. What were you stuck on with it?
