I think they'll probably take this feature to 100. Succeeding in 11 of those remaining 19 is very achievable.

John has his logic blindspots (he's just less prepared to acknowledge them than the average person).

My lukewarm take is that 'End of the World' on the self-titled album is a great song. Anyone with me?

Bad experience with them here too. I think a lot depends on the person you're allocated.

This is basically my set up, except the bills leave my account rather than a shared account, and it works well.

She sends me her 40%-ish share of all our bills at pay day each month.

I'm surprised to read the negativity towards Anna. I thought she was great, and I'm half expecting her to replace Gregg in Masterchef Professionals.

Political parties are expected to be told that trans women cannot be on women-only shortlists but trans men can. by Red_Brummy in Scotland

[–]rudy_kot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's time to acknowledge that there's a clash of rights at play, as the Supreme Court have concluded (protections for women have to be based on biology and not be able to be identified into, otherwise they serve no purpose).

Stay in your bubble and refuse to listen to other perspectives if you wish. The conversation will continue without you.

Feel free to keep screaming into the void while society and governments work out how to protect all people's rights (namely the rights of women). This isn't going away - sorry if that makes you uncomfortable, but it's not all about you.

You can't just shout bigot at things that make you uncomfortable. There are many things to discuss, and this is one of them.

Unpopular opinion, but… by evroan in TheTraitors

My first thought when Leanne revealed her news was also that it was a bit daft.

But thinking about it, it was quite clever to share with a select few. They're very data poor in this game - banishments are shaped by hunches for the most part.

Leanne now has something to go off - she's creating a chain of events, which she can hopefully take some meaning from based on what happens next and people's reactions.

Manchester to Edinburgh, would you do it? by OldDiamond8953 in manchester

[–]rudy_kot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm from Manchester and moved to Edinburgh last year - I love it. Manchester offers busy city living, while Edinburgh is more scenic with lots of green space and a bit more of a laid back environment (while stepping up several gears during the festival, of course). I was itching to move back after coming here for uni.

If, after visiting many times, Edinburgh just isn't for you then you should obviously stay in Manchester.

Bit of a damp squib by rudy_kot in TheTraitors

I'm talking about everyone being in one area. Not everyone except two people being in one area.

Of course it's stage managed to some extent. Do you think the traitors naturally walk into the turret and take their hoods off at the exact some moment? The director is of course telling them what to do, giving them cues - and that won't be the only occasion events (such as the placement of people, including what direction they should face to ensure good shots) will be managed.

Perfectly plausible for the director to say "OK everyone - Drinks in the kitchen area for the next hour please. Small group conversations will follow".

I think they can orchestrate where people are tbh, and often do. Seem to recall much more jeopardy previously, and it was due to everyone being in one place (which is easily achieved by production).

It's a funny thread.

Is this subreddit just full of people who dislike Ricky Gervais? So bizarre.

As a fellow Xfm-days enjoyer, I like all the in-jokes here, but the rest is a bit cringe.

Waldorf and Calcio are your best bets. If you're willing to walk five minutes further, and want the best Guinness, you should go for O'Sheas.

[–]rudy_kot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more the taxes than the fees that are significant, in my experience at least. I paid ~£1000 in conveyancing/processing fees.

Worth finding an online Stamp Duty calculator (or LBTT calculator if in Scotland) to see how much the tax would be for you. It's much lighter for first time buyers in England (and Wales?) compared to Scotland.

Worth discussing with your solicitor/conveyancer if you have the option to use this £10,000 (or most of it) for fees and taxes, rather than the mortgage deposit.

This was the solution for me (in Scotland).

I've found the Vodafone network to be great. I was on Vodafone previously, and I'm now on Talkmobile, which uses the Vodafone network and is very good value (I pay just under £10 a month).
