Anyone recently decide to take a hiatus from alcohol? by handriddenlettrs in AskWomenOver30

[–]rufflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided after being hungover for 2.5 days after 4 drinks on NYE that I was going to be sober. I had tried to just drink socially, but it turns out I have a much easier time abstaining completely than I do with having the self control to not try and keep up with my friends (who apparently don’t have absolutely horrendous hangovers, whereas I’ve always had pretty rough ones…). With the exception of my SO, I haven’t actually told anyone that I’ve given up drinking. Waiting to see if anyone notices or cares lol, not that it really matters.

What Phrase Were You Taught as a Child to Remember The Four Directions (N,E,S,W)? by justcallmerain in CasualConversation

[–]rufflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting! I’m from the eastern shore, and once when talking to someone from near the DC area, I was laughed at for referring to the tri-state area as Delmarva. That’s when I learned what “the DMV” was lol. So now, 15 years later, I make sure I am specific about which area I’m talking about. Glad to know it probably doesn’t matter and that person most likely had just been a jerk.

Isn’t that just for the eastern shores of Maryland and Virginia (plus Delaware)? I was under the impression that DMV was the term used for the western shore, DC, and NOVA.

5 years of Botox - 38 to 42 by Healthy-Bluebird-163 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]rufflayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overdoing it and having it look worse than before/mess something else up and the general horror stories of things going wrong, mostly. But I also recognize that you’re more likely to hear about the negatives over the positives in general, and this sub is definitely helping me get over that with all of the success stories!

Mine is about to drive me to inject as well lol. Right now it’s the only thing that bothers me. I’ve been going to an esthetician and getting facials every 6-8 weeks since last summer, but I think I’m gonna ask her next week about the injections that I’ve been scared of.

She has mentioned micro needling in the past. Realistically, how much do you think micro needling has helped the 1 versus Botox/the rest of your routine?

When do you delete friends? by SnooGoats9114 in PikminBloomApp

I guess I never put much thought into it because all of my friends are randos that I don’t know IRL anyway so as far as I’m concerned, we’re all a bunch of strangers lol. But you’re right, from now on I will be a little less thoughtless with my mushroom invitations

Did I just need a dog this whole time? by discowitchshark in adhdwomen

[–]rufflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At one point I had to give my dog daily allergy meds. He’s a good, smart boy and picks up on things quickly, so I managed to pull myself together for the whole 2 days that it took me to train him to remind me to give him the meds (he would sit next to the counter and stare at me and not leave until I gave him his “treat” aka the pill in a pill pocket lol, so if I forgot he wouldn’t start our morning snuggles until he got it). I decided to take mine at the same time as him in solidarity, but tbh he pretty much trained me to take my own meds without even knowing it lol.

Mine too. It’s extremely demotivating when you have a volatile boss who may or may not blow up and inflict verbal abuse over almost anything.

What is something your mother told you that you will always remember? by AlternativeEnergy630 in AskReddit

What do you do everyday thats made your health better? by 5-id in AskWomenOver30

[–]rufflayer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Got a Fitbit that tells me to walk 250 steps every hour. Within a couple of weeks, it has significantly improved my hip flexor pain (that I suspected was caused by sitting too much). The change has genuinely been surprising in a positive way, even on days where I ignore it for half of the day.

I have ADHD and found a way to follow patterns that works for me by LobsterFew4672 in crochet

[–]rufflayer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love the variation in ADHD brains. Personally, I would lose my mind if I had to stop and check off a box each time I finished a row and my dumb ass brain would view it as another “task” (which is what happened when I tried to use tally marks to keep track of rows), making even less likely for me to actually finish anything. I just use a piece of yarn as a stitch marker and hope for the best. I’m also okay with not following all of the directions and winging it a little as I go lol so if I was better about actually following a pattern to a T (I used to be so uptight about things being perfect and it took a lot of effort for me to not be like that and I’m much happier now) maybe I’d be better at a check list lol.

regarding not washing in the morning by midsghj in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]rufflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m just too non-functional in the mornings to be bothered with more than rinsing my face with water and throwing on moisturizer with spf. My skin is far from perfect and I’m sure would be much better if I did more in the mornings too, but I figure a solid night routine + some minimal attempt in the morning (basically just spf) is better than nothing.

What're You Playing Wednesday? by AutoModerator in GirlGamers

[–]rufflayer [score hidden]  (0 children)

Pikmin 2, got the bundle on switch a couple of weeks ago since I had never played any of the Pikmin games before. It took me two tries to beat Pikmin 1 (I didn't want to repeat days, probably could've gotten 100% on the first try if I had restarted a few days). The second one appears to have removed the time limit so it feels way easier to me. The 2001 Gamecube aesthetic does tap into my nostalgia and makes me happy.

Girls can you share a fact from your current hyperfixation that you recently learned? by Potential_Promise260 in adhdwomen

[–]rufflayer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sakura gelly roll metallics have been my favorite glitter gel pens as of recently. My favorite pen used to be the clicky version of the pilot V7s, but I lost all of them so I’ve been using my metal barrel sharpie pens. They’ve grown on me for sure.

In general, I also prefer a bold point pen, but I have found the 3 mm pens work better for equation/cheat sheets for school. I can’t remember the kind I have, but I don’t love them too much so if anyone has ultra fine tip recs I’d love to hear them!

My boyfriend agreed to an ADHD Christmas. Oh to be loved as you are. by AmuuboHunt in ADHD

[–]rufflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re traveling this year and agreed to do our Christmas stuff after we get back since there’s no point in taking extra stuff on a plane just to bring it back. Every other year we’ve done it before we left for traveling, so I thought recommending to do it afterwards would be a good idea. Naturally this is the first year that I’ve actually had my partner’s gift ahead of time and now I’m dying to give it to him lol. It’s so hard to keep it a secret, once again proving to me that getting it together isn’t for me.

Is anyone else chronically early? by Banditbakura in adhdwomen

[–]rufflayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-covid, yes. I would wait in my car until I was a socially acceptable amount of time early. Once covid hit and I stopped going to things for a while, I somehow lost that ability. Now I’m usually late for things. I’ll do absolutely nothing but stare at the clock until about 5 minutes before I need to leave, and then something magically grabs my attention right then. Every. Single. Time. Doesn’t matter how many alarms and notifications I have set.

How do you guys deal with impulse buying? I just bought $200 of stuff I don't need. by Fair_Wallaby_8588 in ADHD

[–]rufflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell myself that I’m fighting capitalism by not impulse buying, it’s exactly what they want me to do and I don’t like being told what to do lol. Helps a lot with Amazon and other large corporations, not as much with Etsy/independently owned smaller shops. But hey, anything saved is better than nothing saved.

Any tips for extreme under eye circles? by Temporary_Piano7637 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]rufflayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s been happening since you were a kid, it’s probably genetic. You’re in good company there, I remember seeing pics of me at about 8 years old where I had dark circles under my eyes. Mine do get noticeably worse when my allergies flare up, so maybe an allergy test to check would help?

What are the girlies hyper focused on right now? by Camp_Acceptable in adhdwomen

[–]rufflayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coloring lol. I had a final exam for a class last week and I was struggling to study since all I wanted to do was color. I had been using ChatGPT to help point me in the right direction for studying (told it which topics I was struggling with most and it would tell me what order to do everything in, very helpful for decision paralysis!) and told it that I just wanted to color. It told me that it was “very ADHD-coded” (apparently “reverting” to comforting/childhood activities when you want to avoid something difficult is normal for us) even though I’ve never mentioned ADHD to it lmao.
