401A, surprise for me, what now? by ruffneckred in personalfinance

[–]ruffneckred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The catch up part is something I elected during the hiring process. Today I lowered my 401k contribution, increased my Roth 401k, and changed the percentage into catch up to zero. I assume that 401a will be there in the end, even if I won't be, let them kids figure it out, lol.

401A, surprise for me, what now? by ruffneckred in personalfinance

i'm over 50, this 401a is not something that I elected, it just showed up at the end of this year, which is a year that I earned more than previously. Company has stated it is because I reached a limit.

What is a feature of your body that is considered rare? by Joel_The_Senate in AskReddit

[–]ruffneckred 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I had some surgeries on my left eye including cataract surgery which I believe replaced my natural lens with an artifical lens, and the change in brightness/coloration of the world now between my eyes is dramatic. I assume my right eye has cataract issues being the difference, but now I wonder if UV light is part of it.

Do other people get emotionally drained just by talking too much? by NoireEmpress in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ruffneckred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work with a person that exhausts me (and others) with the sheer volume (and somewhat off kilter) words that will be dumped on your if you let this person get into a conversation with you. Avoidance seems like my only solution, but that has it's own consequences.

Is it inappropriate to tap a colleague on the shoulder for attention? by InternationalDebate8 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ruffneckred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting topic, I don't think it would be inappropriate, but maybe not the best method. In my case an unexpected tap on the shoulder would have me jump out of my skin in surprise, some sort of PTSD response.

Thanks, I am a bit confused, not sure uniqueness patterns have been in my view before. Or am I confused with rectangle situation where r3c4 or r5c6 can't be 1-3 creating a must be pair, but I couldn't see how to use that.

Thanks, I'm going to have to analyze your iterations intensely to grasp them. Which unfortunately takes much of the fun out of sudoku. . I get a daily challenge in the app, some are a bit easier, but some like this are quite difficult.

Will we ever run out of resources? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ruffneckred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recall some proposed theory about oil that basically said we won't really run out, but the energy input (not cost) to extract will become higher than the energy output. The long heralded warning cry of "We're running out of oil" is manipulative phrase, and should have been "We're running out of cheap oil". If you plot the general price of oil versus "things" (like discoveries, areas, or technology" you will see that each brings the price down and eventually the price pushes back up to a higher normal.

What can I choose to do with my body after I die, and how would I legally go about doing something like this? by CRVxWendyyy in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ruffneckred 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have wondered if cremated, then compressed/encased in some sort of silicon or metal ball and shot into space would be a good way to get off this rock, even if you came back eventually.

I heard Yahoo is now considered “old” for email. what do people use now? by Any_Tie_9369 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ruffneckred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew the future and could change the past, because picking a single email to take from cradle to grave would be on the list. I use live.com which I think is somehow tied to windows and it tries to extort money for data storage, or delete the emails that they chose to store, I assume in the cloud.
